Surprise... It's Someday!! A Dec 2010 PTR!!

I'm in!!! YAY for your PTR!

I love that you were able to cut out a couple things and afford a trip, the kids will have a great time!!!

I'm loving it! You sound like a wonderful family. And your kids are adorable.
I thought I would mention...though I really don't know much about it...but have you looked at Make a wish for a future trip? I'm sure you would qualify.(though I really don't know the rules)...but I'll just put that thought in your head, and then you can look into it. I think there is a section about here on Dis too.

It really is amazing when you sit down and look at what "extra" things you waste money on...at least for us. I tend to be a shop-a-holic... and I must admit, I know its not the right thing but I tend to buy WAY to much for the kids because I sometimes feel so guilty about things. I am really trying to work on this. None of this is my fault. We are just dealt a hand and we have to deal with. I not helping either of the kids by buy so much stuff for them.

Thank you, Jen! My family really is my entire world. Its so easy to just be so in love with my hubby and kids!
We have considered MAW before. We decided that since we could swing this trip that we would pay for it. The way I understand it, a child is allowed 1 wish over the course of their life. We didn't want to take Gavin's only wish and have him 5 years from now do something really cool that we could never swing...or meet someone that we could never get for him. Give Kids the World will be one of our contacts for medical things that we may need. If something happens we contact them and they can either point us in the right direction or obtain whatever it is we need. They can be in constant contact with Gavin' specialists. Thank you for the idea though. It was a huge decision for us and we took several days to decide what was best for us. Just hoping we made the right choice, but I am sure we did.

I am reading! It's so great that your hubby listened and found a way to make it happen, what a great guy to actually listen, rare quality! Your kiddos are too cute, they are gonna have the best Christmas ever!:santa:

I was so surprised that he really was listening. I would love to tell you that is the case all the time but I know there are times he just smiles and nods...not even in the same zip code as me when I am talking! :rotfl: I think the kids will have a great Christmas. I know it will be a time they will never forget. I know I won't and with all the scrapbooking to be done afterward they will always have that to help them remember every minute of the trip.

I'm in!! Your children are adorable! I can't wait to hear what happens next...popcorn::

Thank you! I was over on your PTR and your girls are cuties too!

Working on my next installment and should get it posted VERY soon! Got to tell you all of Jon's stipulations on our trip.

Great installment!! It is nice when we find out the men in our lives are actually listening to what we say :rotfl:. I totally get why you wanted to save Gavin's wish for later, very smart of you! You never know what he will come up with in the future.

Can't wait to see what Jon's stipulations are and I really hope we can meet when we are there together!!

I was actually ecstatic that Jon had remembered. It was almost as good as getting the trip. If it were just any old trip I think it would have been better...but being Disney the trip won out! LOL

Getting ready to type Jon's Stipulations. Should be posting those in the next 5 minutes. Had been meaning to get to it all day but so many things to do.

I am hoping we get to meet too! I think you and Bill would be a blast to meet!

Welcome! So glad your stumbled in to my PTR!

So...the award for the best listener in this CrAzY family (first time going to male I am sure) goes to my sweet hubby, Jon!

Up next...Jon has some stipulations!

Okay, I'm going to agree with you on this! Especially since MOST husbands don't listen at all (just don't tell my hubby I said that).

Can't wait to hear Jon's stipulations (I hope there aren't too many).

When last I wrote Jon had dropped the Disney surprise on me...and only me. The kids, well they were supposed to be surprised but you all know how that goes sometimes. I'll tell you all about that in another installment. It didn't take Jon long to throw out some stipulations...including the budget.

STIPULATION #1
First we would be driving :sad2: . we had driven this trip many times. In March 2002- March 2003 B.C. (Before Children :rotfl: ) we (Jon and I, along with my parents) took 3 cruises in 53 weeks. One out of Port Canaveral and 2 out of the Port of Miami. BUT...we had never done it with 2 small children...just 4 able bodied drivers! So we would need to stop 1/2 way. Jon would do all the driving overnight. He is already working overnights so no real schedule change for his body. Brenda and Gavin will be sleeping the 10 hours it takes to get us from here to NC where we will stop at his parents house. They will watch the kids. Jon will sleep and I'll do whatever I need to. He would be getting up just as it is time to leave and drive another 10 hours to the happiest place on Earth! I really am ok with that, especially when I think of the $800+ it saves us in airfare.

STIPULATION #2
We not use credit cards for ANYTHING! I so totally agreed with that one! For me its just too easy to spend and spend. And we do have to live once we are forced to leave and come back to the REAL WORLD! :scared1:

STIPULATION #3
Since this is the kids Christmas gift we would have to go over Christmas! :scared1::scared1::scared1:I must tell you, this is the hardest one for me. I was so torn. First, I didn't want to spend Christmas in Florida...I know you are all thinking I am CrAzY! I spent Christmas 2002 in Miami and I HATED it! Christmas, for me at least, is supposed to involve REAL snow... or at least weather that freezes your breath when you walk outside. Its a HUGE dinner I spend days preping for... not Denny's! Ok, still I give in...after all it is Disney World!!!!

So the award for the best trooper in this CrAzY family goes to ME!!!

Up next dates and places!

Those stipulations are very easy to live with. And I'm with Jon...I'd go over Christmas to. I would do ANYTHING to get out of Chicago at Christmas...but then Mark and I HATE snow.

Even if I did tell your husband, he wouldn't be listening anyway! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Tammy, you are SO right. :lmao::lmao:

I can totally sympathize with planning far in advance... I started planning our December trip last August! My grandparents used to live in PA so we have been to Hersheypark several times over the years!

Those stipulations seem to be reasonable to live with! Though I admit you are brave to drive wih 2 little ones! My kid is the type to start with the "how much longer" before we are out of the neighborhood!:confused3

And on my end, I have no idea what a white Christmas would even be like (from Houston here). It snowed in Houston for Christamas a few years back, we were in Canada (where DH is from) and it was the one odd year that there was no snow in Toronto, LOL! But just think, now rather then cook, you can enjoy a Disney meal!!! YAY!

How sweet of Jon to suggest the trip. You must have been floored! I totally understand the cutting back of things.... like you said, it's amazing what you can live without or less of once you set your mind to it.

I understand what you mean about tradition, the dinner, the snow.... but I'd love to be in Disney over Christmas. The only snow I like is sprinkles on Christmas morning. The rest of the winter....not so much. :sad2:

I agree. Most of the stipulations were perfect. I love Christmas snow... and that's the only time I love snow. There is just something about Christmas snow... but stay tuned!

We really like Hersheypark at Halloween and Easter. They do a Christmas thing to but that is just too long to have Gavin out in FREEZING weather that time of year. And I hear it has a lot less.

I think we will be ok driving with Brenda and Gavin. They usually go to bed before 9 and sleep till at least 8ish. They don't nap anymore unless Gavin is not feeling well but they are good night time sleepers. I think I will put them down and then Jon and I can transfer them into their carseats around 11 when we are getting ready. They most likely go right back out... if not we can put a movie in and they will be out soon after it starts.

I would so miss snow at Christmas. We don't get it every year but its always a nice, cold temp and just the way I have always had it. I guess its a comfort thing. At Christmas 2002 we were in Miami. We were leaving for a cruise 2 days later. We spent Christmas at the Miami zoo and puttering around at the Beach. Something just felt wrong. When we called home the family and friends here were in the middle of a blizzard...the way things are supposed to be in PA on Christmas day! :rotfl:

I was so surprised when he mentioned it. I had just moved that to the "dream file" in my mind. I have this filing system and the things in the "Dream File" never materialize. We have done pretty well with the cutting back. To be honest though, not going to Hershey at Easter was a cheat. Jon and I were both baptized in our church on Easter day this past Easter. There was no way we could have gone to Hershey. Part of me will miss Hershey at Halloween though. I can't lie about that, but I will just remind myself where we are going instead.

I agree about the snow. The only time snow is good is at Christmas. Makes the whole holiday more magical....even Disney thinks so. Why else would they make it snow on Main Street?!?! :rolleyes1

Here I was, about to send the award out to be engraved for the PTR reader that picked up one little change in the stipulations and I don't think anyone saw it...... :rotfl:

Do you mean the change that you are not going at Christmas and going at the beginning of December?? Am I right? Am I close?:yay:

Ding, Ding, Ding!!! Tracy is the winner...

So the award for the person paying attention to my many ramblings in this CrAzY family PTR goes to Tracy!! Tracy your award is being engraved and should be there any day.. :rotfl:

I'll post tomorrow and let you all know how I got Jon to change one stipulation... which BTW was not hard!
