We will be travelling with another family of 4 (8 total) early next year. We are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary year, as well as 20 years of being friends..

I am racking my brain to come up with a good celebration idea that will not break the bank.. We have considered taking them to California Grill for dinner. We have not nixed this idea but the cost of a meal for 8 Disney adults (all the kids are beyond kids meal age).

So my question.. have you done something out of the ordinary that would fit the bill? Any other suggestions are appreciated.

How about one of the private Illuminations or Wishes cruises? They run about $350 for up to 10 people.

Or dinner at O'hana followed by fireworks viewing from the Poly beach or the outdoor patio at Trader Sam's.

Dinner at Trattoria al Forno on the Boardwalk followed by the evening entertainment and carnival games.

Best thing every done at Disney was a scavenger hunt inside Magic Kingdom, arranged through Gifts of a Lifetime. We did it as a surprise to welcome my stepson's fiancée to the family (only my ex-husband and I knew about it and everyone got to participate--we were all Disney adults). Prices start at about $350 and go up depending on what you select. I've done all of the special things at Disney--fireworks cruises, spa treatments, parasailing, several of the tours, V&A, all of the signatures, etc. This scavenger hunt was the best of them all. I picked the theme, the duration, the park, etc. At the end was a small gift and a letter welcoming her to the family--up to that point, nobody knew why we were doing it but everyone had a blast.

If your days are already scheduled, does this take very much time away from them? It sounds really awesome, just wondering if you have to set aside several hours for it and schedule dining and FP+ around the hunt. I was thinking about something like this for my son's 14th birthday. Tks!

Another thing the OP can do is order a cake to be delivered to your ADR. I am going to be doing that. Last year we did the illuminations sparkling dessert party and we LOVED it! I would think it would be an awesome anniv. gift as well.

You could order them a gift from disney florist and have it delivered the day they arrive or day of anniversary.

I second the Wishes cruise. The nine of us were celebrating DW 40th (or an anniversary of her 40th!!). We had soft drinks and snacks, and a birthday cake. No crowded streets, with strangers pushing you, and an unobstructed view of a fabulous show. Congrats on you r 20th!

I did the cake for our 20th wedding anniversary.. Yeah.. we are and our best friends are big Disney fans.. The only issue I had with the cake was what to do with the left overs! I had to either toss them or take the time to go back to our room to store them and then back to the park with the family.. we ended up tossing it.. broke my heart.. but the time to take it back was not worth it to us..

Seriously considering one of the fireworks cruises..
Thank you both who posted about it...
