Surprise, Honey! You're Taking Me to WDW! (6/10) Coming Soon, to a DISboard Near You!

I'm sorry about the job but if it didn't feel right, it's for the best! Good luck on continued job hunting and I hope the back feels better soon, that's no fun!

Thanks, it is feeling better... and I feel okay about the job.

 Kathy I am so sorry about your back, I hope it gets better soon. I pray you and Ed get the jobs you are looking for and you don't have to relocate. I know how much you like Billy's school and that must worry you. We are here whenever you get feeling better.

It would kill me to take him out of that school! But I have to leave that up to a Higher Power.

muscle relaxant gud.....

Hi Jordan! So good to see you DISing! :goodvibes

Now that I've booked my resort & airfare, I'm anxious to hear how things are coming along with your trip plans. popcorn::

I hope thing are going OK & your back is feeling better. :goodvibes

Back is improving; trip planning update coming right up!

Chapter Six: Out of the Widerness and Headed Southwest!

Well, I finally got my butt moving and decided to change my birthday weekend ressie from DVC to a regular resort reservation, using the latest discount code. (I called because I wasn't sure how to use the code when I accessed the on-line system.) Guess I waited a bit too long because there were no rooms left at Wilderness Lodge... that is, unless I wanted to book Club Level! :snooty:

Yikes! Even with the discount that would be about $350 more than a Woods-View room for the three nights. Sorry, too rich for my blood!

Tried the Poly and discovered the same thing... no rooms left on the discount except Theme Park View, Concierge... for a cool $1400, with the code! :faint: Same for the Contemporary! Time to look beyond the Magic Kingdom Area....

I was somewhat tempted by a pretty good rate for a standard room at Animal Kingdom Lodge, but, we just stayed at Kidani Village last Fall and my heart yearned for something a little different.

Keeping in mind that I still have to save for our Family Vacation next June, I decided to look at the Moderates and try for our old romantic favorite, Port Orleans French Quarter. (Romantic for us because we honeymooned in N'awlins.) No King Beds there, or at Riverside for that matter.

Hey now, what's the point of getting two double beds if this is supposed to be a romantic getaway?!

The reservationist did find a King-bed room available at Coronado Springs... and the price was definitely right. I decided to book it! :woohoo:

At first I was a little disappointed about not being close to the MK, but on the other hand, we've never stayed at CSR before and I love trying new resorts at Disney! It's always an adventure exploring a new place.

I know that the rooms there have been renovated recently and I'm really happy to get a King room. It also makes me feel better to know that I'm saving money by switching from a Deluxe to a Mod and that I'm making good use of the discount code. Less guilt = More fun!

*ETA: Just checked the CSR convention schedule and was delighted to discover that there will be no conventions at the resort that weekend!!

Also, I requested the CABANAS section.

I'm still waiting to share my plans with Ed. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers concerning our job hunts. Hopefully Ed will get something he feels will allow him to retire soon. And as for me, well, the doctor had a second interview yesterday with a young female dermatologist who may join the practice! :goodvibes
If that comes through, there will be more hours for me and I won't need a new job after all!!

Keep your fingers crossed!

Kathy

Congrats on Coronado Springs Resort!! It is always great when there is less guilt.

I will continue to pray for you and Ed. I hope the doctor hires the new dermatologist and you get your hours back.

Bummer... I was hoping you'd end up at one of the Port Orleans resorts... that would have made a Dis-meet really easy! But I'm glad you get to try a new resort & I guess a king bed room is an important part of a romantic weekend getaway with your husband. :goodvibes

Laura & I are planning to get together this weekend to discuss plans so we can make some ADRs. I'll be anxious to hear about your plans too.

Keeping my fingers crossed that you add a doctor to your practice! pixiedust:

Less guilt will make it hopefully an easier sell to Ed too. ;)

Fingers are crossed your hours increase! That seems a great solution for you.... and :goodvibes Ed finds what works best for him as well.

There is definitely nothing wrong with saving money! I've seen pictures of the renovated CSR rooms and I think they are gorgeous! They have a deluxe look for sure. :) Good choice Kathy!

Thanks, Tracy! That would be perfect! :thumbsup2

You know that I was thinking DIS-meet... still am! Hopefully as the time draws closer we can compare our schedules and work something out! :thumbsup2

Thanks... I appreciate it, really!
I keep thinking that any money I save can go right back into the fund for the next trip! ;)

Thanks... I agree, the "new" rooms are very pretty! I love when the theme of a resort can make it feel as though you've been transported to an exotic place. It makes it just that much more romantic! :lovestruc :lovestruc

 for Ed and Kathy!

CSR looks like a lovely resort. We ate at Pepper Market there in 2003, and it was nice. Close to AK and BB. I'm guessing your longest ride will be to the MK, and the shortest to AK. BB is almost literally across the street, which is cool. I like the Southwest theme; the pool also looks really pretty.

Less than 60 days for me! :goodvibes

Wow! Getting closer! :thumbsup2

I've been looking at CSR pix for the last hour... the resort looks so pretty! And I love that its something "new" for us...

You'll love CSR! It was the first resort DH & I ever stayed in together, on the trip when we bought into DVC.

I'm glad things seem to be looking up for you at work. Hopefully Ed will find something soon that allows you to stay in the same area.

Oh, I hope you get the new dermatologist in your practice and you can just stay put!

I think you'll like CSR, it's very pretty. Since I just got back from a stay there, I'll throw in my two cents. I know you said you requested Cabanas, but just in case you didn't know - Casitas 4 and 5 are closest to the first bus stop, to be picked up and to be let off, if that is of any importance to you. It's also the prettiest part of the resort imo. Longest bus ride was to DTD, furthest park is MK, and really that seemed pretty short as well (unless it was the end of the day, and you were standing......). We didn't eat at PepperMarket, but just a little tip if you do, get it to go and eat at the tables outside by the lake - its a nice view, plus it saves you that 10% mandatory tip :thumbsup2

Hey Kathy! When you first posted that, I thought you'd completely bagged your trip, and were going on a US Tour of the SW?? I should have known better... :lmao::lmao:

I think you'll like the CS. That was my second choice after POR for my trip. The grounds looks so pretty!

Thanks, I hope so too!

My DSis has stayed at CSR on a couple's only trip and she loved it!

Thanks for the tip on avoiding the tip! :rotfl:

I think that each section has it's pros and cons... it's hard to choose! I know you wound up in the Ranchos section... that does seem a bit far from El Centro. Of course, with it being just the two of us, we could probably be happy anywhere!

 Silly woman! (Although I'd love to do the Adventures by Disney SW Tour someday!)

At first, I was a bit bummed about missing out on POFQ/POR... but now I'm thinking we'll really enjoy trying something new!

Happy Double Digits to you! :cheer2:

Trust me, the thought was very momentary! :rotfl2:

Yup, the countdown has begun!

I think you will really like CSR -- it's very pretty, and we loved our stay there in April '08!

Thanks, Jackie! :goodvibes

(Although I must admit, if my hours get increased significantly at work, I may just re-think our resort!) :rotfl:

I do so want to be close to the Magic Kingdom!

*You'll have to take lots of pictures of the Main Street Electrical Parade for me! ;)

Kathy

Awesome news switching to CSR! I don't know much about that resort but from the pictures I've seen of the grounds and the renovated rooms, it looks beautiful!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Thanks, Jenny!

It does seem like a very pretty resort... now if only it were just a quick boat ride to the Magic Kingdom, I'd be set!! :rotfl2:

Kathy

It is a pretty resort and the newly remodeled rooms are beautiful. We did enjoy our stay there, and the bus service was top notch... probably the best of any Disney property that we have been at.

Will you do the dining plan? The Pepper Market is pricey... the cafe is a better price. The bar food was good at the pool too!
