Hello everyone,

I posted a similar thread, once before, but did not receive a reply. Today, I am hoping to have greater success.

At BLT, PVB and VGF, each shower, in the traditional studio, has a support rail.

BLT:

PVB:

VGF:

At VWL, there is no support rail.

Does anyone know about BCV, BWV, OKW, SSR? I have called member services, but have not spoken to a cast member that seems to understand my inquiry.

Thanks,
Jim 8O

The studio photos on AllEarsNet show a support / grab bar in the BWV studio bathrooms:

I didn't check the photos for the other resorts you mentioned, but it wouldn't take long for you to do. :)

FWIW, I would be very surprised if they didn't have the support bar.

I'm really surprised that there isn't a support bar in the VWL studio bathrooms. Maybe I misunderstood what you are looking for?

Thanks, Carol.

I have surfed the web and viewed numerous photos and videos of VWL. The shower is simply tiled, without a rail. Yesterday, someone in member services called over to the WL front desk and confirmed what I had found.

Oddly, online photos show support rails in the bathrooms at BCV and BWV, but member services seems to think they are simply tiled.

Looking through photos of AKV and VWL, I'm also surprised. Not only are the rails not there in the regular units, but for someone with knee or hip issues, but not needing a chair, even the accessible units are laid out poorly. All they'd need to to is add a rail next to the commode and one next to the showers, they wouldn't require much more.

I am pretty sure that BWV has one in a studio.

I have gotten a chair for the bath tub at BLT. I think you can ask for a chair in all of the resorts if that helps.

I know the shower stall in BWV 1 bedroom does not have anything to hold on to, so, I asked for and got a chair for the shower stall there.

Adding the rails now would not be that easy. To have them installed properly, there really needs to be supports added between the studs in the walls. Adding them now on top of the tile will result in them eventually working loose and being more dangerous than helpful.

I didn't realize a rail would need more support than just connecting into the studs. Thanks for the info.

You have captured our situation. My Mom does not use a wheelchair, so the roll-in shower is unnecessary. She does have problems with her hip, so the support rail is necessary for her to get in and out of the tub.

Before I book a studio, I want to be sure that it will have a support rail.

I've found video reviews of OKW, BWV, BCV, SSR, AKV Jambo (not Kidani), VGF and BLT all showing a rail in the shower of the studios. Note, the rail is angled against the far wall, not on the entry side. Ask your mom if that would work.

Neither Kidani nor VWL have a rail in the non-ha units. I don't think we have a clue on the Poly yet.

Example of one (all the rails I see are the same, just different finishes):

Thank you, so much, for taking the time to explore the tub configurations. I truly appreciate it :thanks:

It seems as though VWL and AKV-Kidani do not feature a support rail in the bathroom shower.

Given our available points, I will explore availability at BCV and BWV.
