So do any of you believe in them?

Reason I'm asking is earlier a Bird flew right into our kitchen, via the backdoor it seemed it was unable to fly very well, but it did go back out via the backdoor after some screaming, flapping (us not the bird):rotfl:
Thing is as soon as I told my dear mother she went quiet and said "OH it's a superstition" (thanks mum),she says it means Death :scared: Ever since then I'm feeling like eek! but on googling it says a bird in the house means death,OK then? what about a pet bird, birds the cats bring in? Trying to make myself feel better here.
So go on ever happened to you? Am I over reacting.:flower3:

I think these old superstitions weren't about any random bird, I think they were specifically about robins and sparrows and about them flying in through a window, not a door.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. I would be more concerned about the bird being hurt and any damage it could cause whilst flying around inside.

Try not to let it worry you. We flew in from WDW on Friday 13th last trip so you can see I'm not a superstitious person :rotfl2: although I do find all these old superstitions very interesting.

the only thing I believe in is that stupid verse when you see Magpies, I always have to find a second one if we just see the one, they totally freak me out :scared1:

I am superstitious i'm afraid - drives DH nuts but i'm also slightly OCD ish as well so have to have even numbers like the volume control or £1 in a jar etc, books, cds & dvds have to be in alphabetical order, clothes have to be in alphabetical colour order

I always say hello or salute Mr Magpie if he's on his own!

I don't walk under ladders or under scaffolding (although I think that's more to do with bricks falling on my head :lmao:)

I don't put shoes on tables.

I won't pick up a single glove.

I won't cross in front of a black cat.

I get out of bed the same side I get in on.

I try not to step on cracks in the pavements (although in Dundee this almost impossible :lmao:).

Itchy right palm coming into money, itchy left palm losing money.

7 years bad luck for a broken mirror.

I chuck salt over my left shoulder if it's been spilt.

I won't open an umbrella in the house.

I have to lift my feet off the floor when driving over train tracks.

Always set a table for 14 even if 13 are coming for dinner.

Yeah I know, i'm a real bundle of laughs to be around :rotfl2:

I'm not really superstitious at all - although it drives me mad when it's raining and people bring their umbrellas indoors and leave them open to dry out

Well I've come to the conclusion what will be will be. :)

OMG @ the clothes in alphabetical order :rotfl:
