Stopped by Super Target (to get PJ deals...I don't do Black Friday crowds...I find nearly as good deals online!)...they had a TON of their meat marked down ($2-3 off/pkg)...I paid $2 or less per pound for pork chops, Italian sausages, stew meat, ground turkey & chicken breast. If I wanted to pay more, there was fresh fish for $3-4/pkg, Rib eyes, roast.
I'm gonna remember this every year the night before Thanksgiving! (hmmmm....bet they do the same on Xmas Eve!)

Ah. I always look for those meats with the stickers! Wish I had gone today.

Target has some seriously good meats. Their Sutton and Dodge has made us not want any other steak anywhere. Not even eating out. I guess Ruth's Chris would be better, but out of our price range! Their pork is very good also.

Now that our local Target has added the small grocery section I have also seen great deals on their meats. I now make a point of looking.

So, when you stock up on all this meat ... do you freeze it? Cook it up and then freeze it? DH and I tried to buy up enough meat to get through the week without having to hit the store twice. Well, the stew meat and roast we bought went bad within 3 days. They were still 2 days (and one 3 days) inside the "sell by" date on the package. I usually just buy the meat within a day/2 day span of needing it, so I have no experience with buying ahead like that. I vowed that next time, we would buy it and have "cook" day. We can then freeze it in family size servings.

I usually freeze it. Sometimes I do cook extra pork chops and freeze them, or make soups with the beef and freeze it.
When I freeze meat, especially the beef from Target (they have a lot more air in the packaging) I always re-wrap it in saran wrap. Air tight.
When Target has their steaks on sale I always buy several and freeze them. Hate paying full price!

If I had meat go bad prior to the sell by date, I would be asking for a refund.
