Super Soap Weekend 2007

I'm not sure what the friend's game is -- if you haven't received the checks, are you supposed to take her on the trip and wait for the checks to eventually arrive, if ever, and her responsibility ended with putting them in the mailbox? If my checks didn't arrive somewhere I'd be cancelling them and overnighting a check for the payment in full.

I'll be there that week and probably will avoid Soap weekend. Last year we were there but were at Universal on those two days. Should I just write off MGM for Sat and Sunday or Friday night, too?

Last year they had stuff on Friday during the day as well. I am not sure what they are doing this year. Nothing official has come out yet.

I don't mind coming by myself, but my mom isnt keen on the idea. I will be 19 by that time so I think I will be old enough. Do you know of anyone going solo who wants to meet up? I think she would feel more comfortable if I was going to meet people.

I will be attending Super Soap on Saturday only. My husband and kids will probably be hanging out somewhere else while I'm doing the Soap thing, so you're also welcome to meet up with me. Maybe several of us could meet up together.

No we are not paying for her to go. Mom is in Aruba this week and we both told her if the checks are not here by the time she gets back which gave her another 10 days then she is cancelling the trip, but I still want to go really bad! So now I am trying to find other people going to meet up with or something because she doesnt really want me going alone. Mom did ssw with me in '05 but this yr she can't get it off of work or else she would just take this girls place. I am trying to see if mom will just take her off and leave me on the reservation. She will prolly check out this thread when she gets home b/c she is the one who introduced me to the dis. Her name on here is snowwite

I'll be there with my mom. We went last year it. I'm not a huge fan of soaps but I do watch every so often. My mom loves the ABC soaps so I took her last year for her birthday (which is November 5th) and am taking her back again this year.

So is MGM really only staying open until 7PM? What? They must change that for SSW. It was open until 9PM last year ...

What resort do the stars usually stay at? I've heard the Boardwalk. I've heard Susan Lucci stays in a suite at the Grand Floridian.

Nevermind about the Hours thing. I just checked the official site and it says MGM is open 8am until 9pm both days!

Just like normal.

I always forget that the park opens an hour earlier ... I MUST remember that when we go, lol!

I have given up on trying to trust the girl I was going to come to ssw with and I am trying to book a solo trip now. My mom is trying to see if she can cancel the reservation and book me at the swan and dolphin or something. I also need to find airfare. It is a lot harder now though because it is just me trying to save money. I really want to do it though. You guys have all been so sweet. Hopefully we can meet up

I know I loved when I went for my bday in 2005 for the 10th anniversary . As far as the airfare there boston is closest to me, but they do not have southwest. I have flown southwest though out of nh. It all depends if someone in my house would be able to drive me up to the airport and pick me up b/c it about an hour away where as boston is only 15-20min. My mom really wants to go with me but she can't figure out a way to take it off of work. She took off xmas eve as her holiday and it is too late to change it. I am really trying everything possible to be able to make it this year. I can't wait til I have it all figured out and booked . Then I can just worry about where and when to meet up with people and all that good stuff

It is so hard to figure out how you want to do things because they don't release the stars attending until October, I think. We had no plan last year but still had great fun. I still want to have an operational plan this time, lol.

Yeah I had a ton of fun when I went and I just winged it. I had accidentally found the secret entrance where the stars come in so I met a bunch of them first thing in the morning It was so cool. I had noticed before anyone else so there werent the huge crowds yet hovering over them. I hate when people are crazy and attack them and their kids.

We stumbled upon that last year too. We got pics of the stars with my b/f and Cameron Mathison and Forbes March were so nice to us. We are definately going back there this time.

Thats awesome! I only got a pic of forbes because we had to leave for the airport before I had time to meet him. Was it the entrance by star tours?
Cameron is a sweetheart . I had met him at ssw and he seemed kind of stressed, but last september the weekend of my birthday he came to the boston womens show to speak and there was barely anyone there who knew who he was so I got to talk to him for a long time. He was super sweet and signed a pic of us from ssw and took some new pics. I want to go into performing arts somehow even if it ends up being backstage, but he gave me a bunch of acting tips and ideas. He was soooo nice

Yes, it was between Star Tours and the Backlot Express. The lady with Forbes pointed my b/f out. He is in a wheelchair. Bill got a pic with him, Forbes, and Kelly Monaco. We got a pic of Michael E. Knight with Bill when we were watching him give autographs. He almost climbed the barrier to get closer to Bill and talked to him for a bit. He is fantastic. We got a pic of Bill with Justin Bruenig right after he was done with autographs and getting ready to leave. He saw Bill and stopped to talk.

We are going to try to do one day of pics and shows and one day of motorcades and interviews. It is hard to leave the wheelchair area after you are in there if he wants to be able to see anything so we will just stay there that day.

Very cool. Kelly was really nice too. Michael was sick with phneumonia when I went so he sent autographs signed to the studios but he had to stay home in nyc. That was really sweet though. My mom sprained her ankle the first night and we had to get her a wheelchair, but they couldnt fit her in the area for them by that time. This year when we went to disney for april vacation she needed a scooter b/c she has bone spurs in her heals so she couldnt walk that far each day. I couldnt believe how rude people were. The first night there some guy made me and her both cry going down mainstreet because her tire was stuck in the train track after the parade in the crowd and when she moved out of it into an empty space he screamed and tried to hit us with the stroller and said we were trying to cut him off. The disney employees had to move us away from him with the flashlight wands to a better place to drive b/c he wouldnt stop screaming. I couldnt believe how rude people were when we had the chair. We have gone 10 or 11 time but that was the first with the chair and it was awful
