Ok, its a lousy thread title, and we can let Lisa edit as necessary, but I wanted to get a thread up for us as Lisa likely still has intermittent access.

Great job in February Goofs, lets stay consistent in March!

Here's the link to the spreadsheet.

February Totals for SuperGoofs: 1170.5 Miles, 240:31:00...thats 240 HOURS of exercise. GREAT job goofs! :woohoo:

Mike

Got in 8 miles in 1:15 on the elliptical and 40 on the bike.

My knee is flaring up pretty badly right now, so I'm glad today is just a swim, and an EASY bike.

Have a great day Goofs!

Hey Mike. Thanks for starting the thread. I was trying to catch up on everything in between, you know, working...:surfweb: I was a little slow.

I am not going to edit your post, I don't have that ultimate power. You are going to need to post the team totals in the first thread and update them as necessary. I also like to include the spreadsheet link in there (mostly for myself) so we can all use it at will. Wait until I update my totals though dang it!!!!

I got in a long, slow, cold 10 miles yesterday. It almost felt like punishment for awhile and then I got into more of a groove with it. I maintained an 11:38 mpm pace which is where I think I am going to stay for the full. I am slightly sore today, mostly because of hills, but all in all it was not bad considering I have been skiing most of my miles instead of running.

We are in the heavy snow zone today due for 10-14 inches of wet heavy yucky snow. No mixing in sight for us thankfully, just snowpack and more shoveling for tomorrow! They called school before it even started that's how bad it is supposed to be here. I will let someone know if I lose my power or net again so you all don't worry.

Have a great day everyone!!

More proof of my theory, no good deed goes unpunished...

Got in 2300 yards swimming in 45 minutes today, and have 30 minutes on the bike on tap.

Lisa, hope your feeling better, and don't hurt your back staying ahead of the shnow!

Mike

Oh come on now, captaining is not THAT bad, is it??? I was so happy to see that you started the thread I could throw you a virtual hug and a kiss!!! :love1:

lol...I'm neither a captain nor a wannabe...I just like my team!

Good morning all.

I was lazy yesterday and skipped my "long" run. Just couldn't work up the motivation. I did it this morning instead. Just 6 miles.

Lisa Hope the storm doesn't knock you out again. I think it's cruel to have snow storms in March. Although I do remember taking finals in May one year and having snowflakes in Boston.

Only 4 more days til I run away to sunny, warm Florida for the weekend. I've even found a little 5k race that I might run in Ocala.

Maura

Good Morning All-

This month I am going to really try and extend myself out a little bit more. I have not been feeling the team vibe so much this time around so I am going to try work on my attitude and become more involved with everyone.

Cecilia- thoughts and prayers to you and your nephew. Joining the Marines may be the best thing to ever happen to him. College will still be there.

Lisa- we can compare notes on the horrific weather we have had this year!
We have another snow day today- 15 inches of snow predicted. I am hoping we don't loose power- fingers and toes crossed. Who knows when the kids are getting out of school this year. We have had so many snow days. Several surrounding communities have canceled Spring vacation and the kids are going to school then to make up for some of the lost days. We will be in Disney so that is not an option for us.

Maura- hope it was a good six miles!

Mike- you will never catch me in a bathing suit so swimming will never be an exercise I participate in! We should compare notes on the knee issues! Naprosyn is my new best friend!

April first are sign ups for MCM- I can't wait. DH is going to try and do it this year. Hopefully my knee/leg issues will be resolving by then. I am seeing a orthopedic specialist because no one seems to know whats going on.

I will never call the treadmill the dreadmill again- I only wish I could run on it (more then a few tiny miles)!

Since the gym is closed this morning due to the snow I am going to do a fat burning program on the treadmill and a round of Bootcamp DVD (yes I fell for the infomercials!) I modify them a little but I do like them.

Have a great day all!

1) Whatever it takes to keep you moving, whether its infomercials or drill instructor!

2) Knee problems stink, but i'm glad they aren't back problems. One of my best friends and co-hunters has had back problems for years...they were so bad this year that I had to take his dog bird hunting so she could stay sharp. Not that I minded, but it was very weird being out there without him, bossing HIS dog around.

3) I was taking Naproxen, but the orthopod wanted to take me off it when on another prescription med. I've been taking aspirin for 3 weeks to ensure that I don't get any clotting post surgery, but that is about over, too.

I know you didn't ask for knee advice, but is there any way to find another orthopod? Have you had MRI, or just x-ray? I found out who the orthopod for the Chicago Bears and Blackhawks was and went to him...I don't remember what area of the country you are in, but if you can find the orthopod that treats the local professionals, you will be in good hands...better even that Allstate!

Mike

Nice knee advice Mike. I totally agree. I would go searching Boston Joanne. They must have some good docs available there.

I agree about the weather. Last year was worse for me though. Storms every Saturday and Wednesday really put my world in a spin. No skiing, no outside running, no snowmobiling we just could not keep up. The kids are cheering and lamenting at the same time. No school today but more school later. Not such a great alternative.

We will be in Nashville at CMM for our spring break (April 20th week) so I hope they don't decide to make the kids go to school through that!!!

Good Morning all!

Gee Mike, you are a much better co captain than I am! Thank you.

Today is beautiful and sunny but super cold (for Georgia). The snow actually fell SOUTH of us, so we only saw flurries yesterday. Nothing stuck here but some areas in Georgia got several inches. Our county is practically the only one that didn't cancel school today. My kids were so bummed.

I am thinking of my friends in New England today. Hopefully this is winter's last big hurrah before spring starts to break through.

Cecilia

Good Morning all!

Gee Mike, you are a much better co captain than I am! Thank you.Cecilia

I'm no co-captain Cecelia, I'm just an early riser! :goodvibes

Hope it warms up in GA for you...its 14 and snowy here, so it will be quite some time before I get to ride outside....

Good morning Goofs...updated my February numbers late last night, now moving on to March!

Did the ESPN 5K on Saturday, it was fun. Doctor told me no jogging, just walking but once out there, my feet just had to move. Kept a 14 min/mile pace so there was lots of walking inbetween and was happy to finish. I talked a group of people from work into signing up, most have never done a race before. The week before, everyone was asking the normal questions of what do I need to eat the day before, what do I wear, where do I put my number, etc. All the stuff I asked here on the DIS last April and May before the Minnie!

Weather was in the mid 50's at 6am which is chilly for us Florida wimps so I wore a long sleeve under my WISH shirt and within 5 mins of the race, wish I hadn't!

Race started in the far parking lot of Hollywood Studios where the cast members park. An out and back through the side entrance out to World Drive and back then into the park. Through the side entrance into Lights! Motor! Action! or whatever it is called! Everyone was on the jumbo screen!! Around NY Street, past Muppets and then Star Tours and Indiana Jones. Past the Great Movie Ride, down Hollywood Blvd, down the side street to Tower of Terror, around the back cast areas, up the hill by Fantasmic! and then back out to the street, back down Hollywood Blvd to the front and then out the side cast entrance by Guest Relations and back into the parking lot for the finish. Miami Dolphin cheerleaders and the Harlem Globetrotters at the finish although I wasn't paying attention to that, just crossing the mat. My DH and DD said they saw lots of sports stars while waiting near the finish line, some ran and others just did interviews. Over 1400 finishers although I think most were cast members as I saw lots of people that I've worked with over the last 23 years!! It was like a mini reunion.

A few pics below, cute medal, I'd do this one again next year if they continue it!!

Before the race in the tent...me and a few girls from work.

Good Morning Team!

Suzanne - WTG on the event!

Lisa and all other New Englanders - be careful with the heavy snow. Think we are all quite done. Woke to find snow falling this morning that was not forecast (Mike do you recall them saying snow?). Fortunately not heavy but it's still snow...and cold....and I'm done.

Got my new bike on Saturday! Took it for a spin around the neighborhood when I got home - not the smartest idea. It was 20 with wind chill of 10. Had chills for couple hours. Brilliant, huh. :sad2:

Only 3 days of work this week then heading to Florida! Looking forward to sun, friends and the half. :beach:

recall snow in the forecast, but it sure made it hard to get to the pool today!

I know, its just a dusting, but I am SO mentally finished with winter!

Post up a pic of your bike, it would be nice to see a harbinger of spring.

Mike

I would take a dusting...:cold:

Or a trip to Disney...:beach:

Or a harbinger of Spring...:flower3:

Well, I didn't feel like working out on Saturday, but after looking at the spread sheet for the month, I couldn't not work out. I worked out every single day of Februray and couldn't let the last day of the month down! So I logged 3 miles on the dreadmill, just for you team!!!!

I didn't think I would be able to run yesterday. So many chores to do, and I came into work for a little to catch up......but my dh helped me to find the time (bless him) and I got a good 5.25 miles in 60 min OUTSIDE!!! Yippee! and I didn't feel like death! (even better!) I was a bit faster, and didn't have any pain or discomfort! Yesterday's run is the one I am always looking for! And I am grateful!

I did get up this AM to do 3 miles on the dreadmill, since the snow is flying! I am hoping to get to Pilates class tonight......
