Super Goofs on Parade: Foward...MARCH!

Heya Goofs,
Just a quick post - barely maintained my running streak yesterday. Work starts on our kitchen tomorrow, and there was a chance that they were going to start the demo work today. Yesterday afternoon was taken up with a family bowling outing, so I spent most of last evening trying to finsh getting everything out of the kitchen.

I managed 3 miles, and barely beat the midnight deadline. Got in an easy 4 this morning, some nine hours later. This week should be easy - no long runs, though I plan on actually racing a 5k on Saturday.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Hey, I can't let Mike be first too many times....people will talk!!! :lmao:

I got in 3 forced miles with the Leslie Sansone DVD yesterday. Then about an hour of shoveling on top of that. We didn't get as much snow as predicted (thank goodness) but still more than we really needed. We ended up about 8-10" total depending on the drifting situation. Needless to say I stayed out of trouble yesterday afternoon!!

Today is girls to the gym and 4 miles for me. I am in a search for another pair of kicks. They have changed my Saucony's again and the Asics Kinsei has been replaced too. I have a pair of NB that are okay and a pair of Nimbus 10's in wait for the marathon but I need a pair to rotate out with the NB. The NB are okay for shorter runs but not so much on a longer run. They need a little more cushion for my old bones. Anyone have a new sneak that they love??

SAHDad What 5k are your running? Are you in Michigan? Guess it doesn't matter for me though--still will bask in sunny Florida and plan to run the Southwest Ocala Rotary 5k. Not glamorous, but hopefully fast!

I'm a day behind in training this week, so today was weights for me.

Lisa, Angie, Joanne (did I forgot anyone?) Hope you're digging out of the snow okay. Angie--I may see you this weekend. Are you going to the meet on Saturday? I may make it, but depends on how long the passholder event really goes.

Maura

Good Morning Lisa-
I really love my sneakers- Mazuno X10. I would be heartbroken to find they weren't made anymore. I am super picky about shoes!

Girls are back at school today- happy dance! We had a winter vacation last week and a snow day Monday so we are all looking forward towards this morning.

Fitness yoga (75 minutes) on tap today, spin class (1 hour), riding (1.5 hours), and bootcamp (20 minutes) on tap for today! I may throw in a 30 minute fat burn on the treadmill.

Have a great day, my team!

Wow Joanne, you make me feel like a slacker with my little 4 miler today!!

Maura, have so much fun in FL!!! I truly wish I could go and just feel some warming sun. Ahhhh.....

I am currently looking at the following:
Pearl Izumi syncroFloat III
Puma Complete Concinnity 3
Mizuno Wave Exlir 4
Saucony ProGrid Echelon

The Saucony has the highest arch and I do love my Saucony's for their long wearability. They did an in depth study of shoes in Running Times this month and it shows you the heel drop, cushioning in the heel and forefoot, lots of other stuff. I have super high arches and narrow feet making me a problem child from the start. I also am a very neutral runner which is odd for someone with high arches. Yeah, just a mess here. I have my list and will try on the shoes. The new Saucony Guide hurt my feet and the new Asics Kinsei 2 just did not feel "right", on top of which $165 for a pair of sneaks is a bit ridiculous...:sad2:

jmasgat - I'm planning on visiting my dad and other assorted relatives in Illinois this weekend. There is a 5k Saturday morning, which, as long as I can register on race day, I'll be doing. (It's a small event, probably less than 100 runners and walkers, so it oughtn't be a problem.)

To all those with snow - good luck digging out. We just had freezing temps yesterday and today, but no snow here.

groovygirls - That's an awful lot of stuff for just one day. Made me tired just reading it.

Joanne That is a ton of work and time...your team thanks you!

Lisa You definitely smoked me today...but then again, I can't run and today called for an hour on the elliptical...I'm going at lunch instead of 0400! Sleeping in for the win!

Steve Where in Illinois are you going to run/visit? I live in Downers Grove. Also, YOU are a machine for your running streak! :worship:

Everyone else Stay warm! you can tell I'm still in 16 degree weather here, since warm is all I can think about...have a great day goofs!

Mike

Good Morning Team!

Joanne - all that in one day! Sheesh and I thought I was doing good with my 2 hr total work outs.

Lisa - I've got a pair of Saucony ProGrid Rides that I like but had to replace the sock liner to get more cushioning. Generally don't wear them for anything over a half. My faves right now are Pearl Izumi SynchroPace II (which of course are now the Pace III). However these are a moderate support shoe vs the Saucs that are neutral. I really hate when they change my shoes.

As promised, here is a pic of my new bike. Of course it's on the trainer - hoping it warms up soon so I can get it out w/o freezing. SPD pedals are on and have the aerobars waiting until I can get it out couple times first.

Hi Goofs, just a quick fly by for me tonight.

I just received my confirmation email for the 2010 1/2!!!! So excited!!!

Did 5 miles walk/jog today and getting on the bike soon for a few more. I walk with a friend on Tuesdays and we usually just walk and talk, don't worry about the time, just get the miles in. We decided today to start jogging inbetween walking to move it along faster. She did the ESPN 5K with me last weekend and saw how much I try and jog during those. We are hoping to jog alittle more each week until we can jog more than walk. There's a goal for ya!!

Getting ready for the Princess 5K this Saturday. Maura and I are trying to get our schedules together to meet and cheer for the 1/2. I'll be out there in my bright green!! Angie, are still coming for the 1/2? We'll be looking for you!!

Hey Super Goofs I just wanted to drop in on the Goofs and tell you all Super Job in February!! You guys are awesome!!

Maura Have a great time at WDW during the Princess. I sure wish I was going. It would have been great to see you, Tracy and all of the other WISHers that are going to be there. I will be cheering you on from Alabama though!!

Hope everyone has a fantastic March!!!:cheer2:  :yay:

Hey, I'm excited that I'm going to finally get to post some miles along with times on the bike trainer; I was able to finally get the sensor to work on the rear wheel, so that might help our team.

2500 yards on tap in the pool for me...bleh!

I also have 50 minutes on the bike scheduled sometime, I don't know when thats going to fit in today.

Liz, where did you buy your bike?

OK, going to stretch and get in workout for the scariest part of triathlon.

------------------EDIT--------------------

Got the 2500 yards done. The scary thing that I realized while rinsing off is that the warm up (900 yards) was about what I used to consider a long swim! If I was a smart man, I'd say something very deep next.

All I can come up with is "Daily incremental improvement means that eventually you can do things you never thought possible!"

Keep fighting to get in the next workout Goofs...its worth it!

All this bike talk has me thinking about getting a new bike. I have a mountain bike but it really doesn't fit me right. I've had it a few years and I can't get comfortable on it and I can't figure out what the issue is.

Today I have a riding lesson- jump week! I am really working on getting over my anxiety that has increased over the past few weeks involving jumping. We had some pretty scary issues a few times but I have to keep telling myself- just grab mane and hold on!

I am meeting with the personal trainer today so I will try to get in a good cardio before I meet with him.

Plan for today- 2 hours riding, 1 hour cardio, 1/2 hour with trainer, I am debating doing the body combat (I am supposed to do it 6 days a week) I guess I'll check on my energy level at the end!

Have fun every one!

Joanne

Hey Goofs.

Suzanne, great pics of the race! :thumbsup2

Cecilia, we didn't get any snow, either. My kids were also majorly bummed.
Did you see that prisoner that escaped yesterday who was being transported? That is by my house! I got up this morning to check and they never caught him!!! That is a tad freaky... My youngest was scared last night and I told her that I was sure they had caught him. :rolleyes1

I'm recovering well so far. Still haven't gone out and walked yet. I'm thinking next week. They took my drain out Monday and told me to take it easy this week. Having some issues with my blood pressure, but I think it is not related.

I hope everyone is doing well. For those on their way to WDW and/or doing Princess Weekend have fun! :yay:

Morning Super Goofs!!

Mike - got it at Performance. Also where I got my hybrid and Patrick got his road bike last year. Really nice folks to deal with and good prices. Bike was regularly $749, sale tag said $599 with extra 10% off but when they rang it up came to $449. Gotta love it! And WTG on the swimming! I've gotta get some lessons in. Patrick rigged our cyclo comps to the rear wheel when we put them on the trainers in Nov. Not pretty but it works.

Shan - glad you're feeling good but remember to take it slow and easy at first.

Joanne - I highly recommend getting a bike. Great for cross training and just fun IMHO.

Finished packing for WDW last night so no work out. Hoping to get in some cycling tonight before an early bed.

Keep up the great work everyone and I'll be back next week.

I've gotta get some lessons in.

RUN don't walk and see Preston at Urban Tri Gear...its farther than Endurit is from you, but he is about 1/2 the price ($45/session, less if you pay for 5 or 6 lessons up front) and made a world of difference in my swimming!

Have fun at the world!

Mike

Joanne 6 days a week of "body combat"? Sounds like you're training to be a Marine!

Shan:flower3: for your recovery.

Liz Great price on the bike. I got a road bike last year. Very nice, but a lot pricier! Good bike store though.

Mike Wow--almost 1-1/2 miles. I still haven't gotten into the pool yet this year. Sorta dreading it. Really wish I could find someone local to do a little evaluation/coaching.

I have to cook, launder and pack tonight, and tomorrow night I will hopefully be toasty warm in FL. Of course, now the weather report here says 55 degrees on Friday!

Maura

Liz, Maura and Suzanne, hope you have a blast this weekend!

I'm feeling like such a slacker compared to all of you. I ran last night for the first time in a while. Tried to do some "speed" work (10-minute miles, which -- sadly -- is max pace for me), but I've lost a lot of my prior conditioning. Ended up taking a bunch of walk breaks, but finished my 2 miles. I guess I am one of those people who are only motivated when there's a race coming up. It's too easy for me to slack right now, knowing that my next race is the DL half. I'll just have to find another race to train for, stat!

Maura - you mean 55 for a low, right? Forecasts I'm seeing are all 75-80 for highs thru Monday. Low's mid 50's. Which considering the 20 degree avg we've had for months, I'm just fine with. :-)

Liz Actually I meant the high in Michigan will be 55-60. Meaning, now that I leave, of course it finally warms up!
