Super Goofs moving into May

Lisa, I looked up your pictures from the CMM, I think you look great and you finished!!!

Can't believe its almost May.

I've updated the spreadsheet from memory. I will add more later or make corrections as necessary.

Still here, still running. Just need to update a couple weeks worth of workouts.

Hey, I actually updated the spreadsheet before the month was over....Yeah! (All becasue I am not cooking dinner tonight--took home some leftover food from a teacher lunch)
Back to the gym tomorrow. Took today off since I needed to do an early in/early out day at work.

Maura

4 miles in the rain. Updated the sheet with my minutes and miles for the month.

Happy Friday! I had a good 5 mile tempo run this morning--indoors as usual. Looking forward to the weekend, fixing my oven (second replacement part finally arrived), clothes shopping (not looking forward to this, but must do--need stuff for work) and overall relaxing.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

And in yet another irony, today--International Workers Day/Labour Day--is the day our salary cut takes effect! But having a salary is better than NO salary.

Maura

Good Morning Goofs!

My training has suffered this week. I had such good intentions but LTO. Between my three kids, we have 10 games this week so its been insanely busy. But May will be better.

The big excitement this week was that DD13 hit her first honest-to-goodness, not on errors, Home run. The kind that when you hear the bat hit the ball you know its going far. And it did, the ball sailed over the Centerfielders head and hit the 350' sign on the fence right smack in the middle of the 5. She had an awesome game all together - got 5 outs on defense as well including an amazing catch and tag at third. Then to our surprise, the coach from her future high school came up and introduced himself and introduced a couple coaches from his feeder teams. It seems they were there to watch Charley and one of her teammates as potential players.

Morning everyone!!

Cecilia, that is great news!! Give your DD super congrats from us. DD14 hit one in the same place but unfortunately we have a netting for a fence and it rolled under giving her a ground rule double. She was NOT happy. Sounds like DD had a great game though!!

Maura, sorry for the salary cut but yeah, anything is good right now all things considered.

Everyone else :flower3: It is spring right?????

Busy planning out my garden which will hopefully get planted this weekend. DD14 has field hockey practice and DS7 has his first baseball game all on Saturday. :sad2: At least I have Sunday left to salvage. That in amongst the laundry. It will feel funny not to have to run 20+ miles too. I did bike yesterday but only 8.82 measly miles as I was under time constraints there too. Good thing this is recovery week or else I would feel bad, lol.

Today I am headed to the gym and the local nursery to buy some seeds/plants for the garden. The kids will LOVE that. It should be a short weekend for me. I hope everyone else has something fun planned!!

Hey guys (and girls) I am still around, but very busy! I logged yesterday's miles and minutes today, so I should be up to date. I have a 1/2 marathon on Sunday! The Runner's World 1/2 in Lehigh Valley.

Beth

Best of luck tomorrow, Beth!

Congratulations to all our Country Music runners. I'm so impressed by your accomplishments, despite the brutal conditions.

Today is the first day, not only of the rest of my life, but of my official training for the DL Half and WDW Marathon. I just realized that means I will be "in training" from now until January. :scared1: I actually jumped the gun a bit and did my long run, a whopping 4 miles, last night instead of this morning. I did my 5:1 run/walk ratio, stretched for a while after 2 miles, kept a consistent (slow) speed, and am proud to say it was relatively painless when all was said and done. (Take THAT, you stupid IT band!)

Two miles are on tap for tonight, and DD might join me for one. We're doing a mother/daughter 1-mile fun run for Mother's Day, and she wants to practice. I can't tell you how much it warms my heart that she wants to do this with me.

Have a great weekend, Goofs!

Kim WTG on your training run. Wow--that is going to be a long training stretch. Well, Come to the Goofs if you need motivation!

Cecilia Kudos to your daughter. SHe must feel good.

I did nothing today--except for my hour long dog walk. Well, I did fix my oven (with the second part they sent) and found some bargains at Nordstrom Rack. Does that count? Tomorrow I will double up and swim/bike.

Maura

How was your Half Beth? Hope it went well!

Congrats Cecilia! Your daughter sounds like a super star! :woohoo:

My oldest had a good sport weekend, too. She did great at her swim meet. :yay:

Today I have to work on switching out winter and summer clothes. I've been pulling out of the box. :sad2:

Tomorrow I think I'm switching over to another 10K program. Things just aren't happening for me. My legs still feel like jello. :confused3

Goofs rock in May! :rockband:

Any AP holders?

In the new Mickey Monitor there is a card to pass along to someone so they can get 10% off their APs. We are about to buy four new APs in three weeks. You would get $25 per pass we buy – so $100 in your pocket! If any of you got the card I’d be very happy and thankful, plus you’d get some extra cash! Anyone?

Hey Super Goofs! Just a quick drive by to say that I am still here! Just been super busy, and unfortunately not feeling well earlier in the week, when my allergies were OUT OF CONTROL!!

I ran a 1/2 marathon today, and posted a race report on the race report thread. The short version of it is that it rained the whole race, and the conditions were just not good. I finished in 2:23...not nearly as fast as I would have liked to go, but all things considering I am happy.

I am not sure what my next race will be. I may try to do some local 5ks in the summer. I will find out in June if I get into the NYC marathon in November. Then of course, I will be doing Goofy in January!!! :cool1:
At least these will keep my into my training! I promise to update the spreadsheet and TRY to check in more often!

I will try to catch up with everyone this week, I want to read the reports from CMM from last weekend!! I heard everyone did a great job and had a blast!

Keep up the good work Goofs!!

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

Responses to this week's prompt can be posted on the 'Ohana team thread, and starts here.

Free advice, it's worth what you paid for it. Then again, sometimes the best things in life are free. You decide in this week's mixer prompt.

Share with us some memorable advice you've received.

Your advice can be related to training or races. It can focus on healthy habits or be "life" advice. It can be the best advice you've ever received, the worst, or the most profound. It can be helpful tips that helped you as a WISHer and athlete. Or it can be simply the funniest, most useless, or totally inappropriate for a situation. Just so long as it's memorable.

And just like M & Ms, don't feel restricted to just one piece....

Go out of town for a couple of days and you're two pages behind...

This one's going to be all about me since I'm going back to bed...I feel terrible right now with a raging cold since Thursday night.

Saturday: 43 mile bike, 2.5 mile run, abut 4 hours total time.
I took DS 7 to the last Indian guides campout 2.5 hours north in Wisconsin.Got up at 0415 on Saturday, and worked out from 0500 - 0900. Left at 0945 to the campout, where we played frisbee golf, shot BB guns (Red Ryders thank you very much), went for a little rowboat ride and fueled on smoked brisket, smoked pork shoulder, and flank steak...stayed up until 0100 talking and laughing around the campfire.

Sunday: Got up at 0600 with the little guy, had breakfast, another rowboat ride, shot the Red Ryders again, and drove home 2.5 hours.

Got in 8 mile run in 1:20,...felt terrible since i didn't fuel well on Saturday.

Got up today with the best of intentions to swim, but still have a HORRIBLE cold so I went to a 24 hour restaurant and had a yummy breakfast skillet.

Back to bed for Mikey...

Congrats on the Half Laurie!

I'm dressed and ready to go run. Now if the rain would just let up a little! :surfweb:

Shan, I'm an AP holder, but I haven't received my Mickey Monitor yet. If/when I do, I'll be happy to give you the code. What a great promo!

Mike, I think you posted your miles/minutes in my spot. I just moved them over to your column, so we should be squared away. I've never had a 45.4 in the miles column in my life, so that really jumped out at me!

DD (almost 9) and I did our mile run together yesterday morning. We did a 2/1 run:walk ratio, and she was much speedier than I'd expected. Taking out the two times we had to stop and retie her shoe :headache:, we did the mile in well under 13 minutes. Of course, she twisted her knee on the way back to the car, so we may not do Saturday's mother/daughter run after all. Murphy's Law.
