Super Goofs bringing it home for the holidays challenge thread

Morning! I did 40 minutes total today--2.3 miles on TM/stepper and some PT weight training. Another holiday lunch on tap today, so I will more than replace the calories burned!

Hope everyone has a good day.

Maura

Hey everyone--quick drive by for me!

Yesterday: 1.5 hours of ice hockey--we had a game and it was such a good game but we ended up losing 3-1.

Today: 5 miles/56:45

I am feeling really good about my training for the Goofy. Now, I am not exactly a speed demon, but I really feel like I can do this. I already feel like I am in better shape this year that last year at the marathon. I can't wait for the races!!!

Sorry for the post and run....gotta get some stuff done!

Thursday...45 mins bike/8.91 miles

Took tonight off and went to my DD's chorus concert. It was amazing. She is in an all girl chorus made up of about 40 7th and 8th graders. They did 3 songs that were great, lots of harmony where part of the chorus sings one part while the other part of the chorus sings another part at the same time and then they sing the same at the end. Hard to describe but we were blown away, I am so proud!!! There is also an all girl beginning chorus and a boys chorus with about 12 guys. At the end of the concert, all the students (about 80 total) sang 2 songs together.

We were told tonight that DD's middle school is the only middle school in our county that has a full time chorus, band and drama department. All others have one or two but not all three due to funding. Sad. Our principal said we will have all three and will find the money somewhere. Lots of fundraising but well worth it!

Have a great Friday everyone, keep the minutes and miles coming.

35 minutes on the bike trainers, today 35 minutes in the pool.

Going back to bed.

Go BEARS!

Good morning Goofs. Bad weather here. My power is iffy this morning so I will quickly post.

Yesterday afternoon I played hockey with my family on our little pond for an hour and then did some yoga afterward. The hockey game was hilarious with DD13 body checking her dad and knocking him clear off the pond in a heap...:lmao: I was NOT cheering her on.

Today is iffy for me, the kids are home from school and the weather is REALLY bad here. We have about 2 inches of wet heavy snow and it has been pouring rain for hours and in the 20s. Not sure how long the power will be on as the southern end of the state is out already. Fingers crossed. Angie and Joanne, I hope you both are okay too.

I will definitely try some yoga and weights this afternoon. My DS7 likes to get his yoga in every day so that will keep me going. I am very far down in miles this week. I think I have a total of 3 but things should be turning around soon with snow actually coming, I can get out and snowshoe and ski some to fill in my time. I am getting pretty lazy with no race to train for yet....:sad2:

Lisa, you'll appreciate this. We had flurries predicted here in Central Alabama -- FLURRIES, mind you -- so they announced yesterday afternoon that the schools would have a delayed opening this morning. (The real danger here is that we have no salt / sand for the roads, so anything that freezes remains frozen until temperatures climb.) What really happened was that all precipitation stopped around 7 PM, the roads stayed dry, the temp didn't fall below 32... and the schools STILL had a delayed opening! What's wrong with making the announcement in the morning so the kids can wait, breathless, by the radio hoping and praying their district is announced? Heck, it was good enough for me growing up!

Anyway, I finally got a run in last night. First run since Saturday, thanks to my illness  kicking my @#$! Four miles in 50:48. I have 11 on tap for Saturday morning -- longest run ever :scared1: so I'm taking today as one more rest day.

Friday update...30 mins bike/5.98 miles

I know shes not on this team but I met TigerLily03 at work tonight. A fellow server said she had someone at her table who was doing the Goofy in January so I went to say hello. I looked at her and said you look familiar and she said so do you. I asked if she was on the Dis boards and the rest is history. What a nice lady! I guess you just never know who you are going to meet!!!

Hi Goofs!

I have not been able to get back in the groove but I am definately making progress. Dh is finally home so that will help. Most of my Christmas shopping is done so that will help too.

Thursday 8 miles in 1:22. Then Friday 5 miles on the tread mill in 48:38.

And now I am off for a long run.... Wish me luck because this cold is still lingering around zapping my energy.

Cecilia

Morning all.

I did the Jingle Bell 10k today as part of my half training plan. Went pretty well. I finished in 54:50 (8:50 pace!) and finished 4/5 in my age group. I did a full report on the race report thread.

So now I've got my run done for the weekend-woohoo!

Maura

just got back from an easy 9 miler. Kept my pace between 12:30-13 mpm. I think this will be where I stay for the half. Tomorrow will be a big test for me as I will do an 18 miler. We will see how my legs feel.

9 miles/1:53

Sorry for the post and run....gotta get showered, grab a bite to eat, then head into NYC to officiate at a high school track meet.

I will check back in tomorrow!

Hi Goofs!

I ran 12 miles this morning. It wasn't as bad as I had anticipated either. Perhaps I will survive Goofy after all. Total time was 2:09.

Cecilia

LRE for me this morning! 11 miles in 2:20:00. I felt pretty good during the run, but now my knee feels like I twisted something. Wish me luck that it's nothing.

Good morning Goofs. I hope everyone is doing well today! Mostly I hope that Joanne and Angie have power and their families are safe.

I have updated the spreadsheet. If you have hours or miles to add for last week please let me know and I will fix the totals. We have slipped in the standings to 5th in miles and 6th in hours. I am here to apologize for my meager contribution from last week.

Yesterday, my DH turned on a program about the Ironman and I was just half heartedly watching it while the pros came across the line. I figured it was then end of the program but they continued onto the amateurs. After watching the faces crossing the finish line, I started shedding a tear or two. I remember now why I love running. I know how every one of them felt when they crossed the line. I could see it in their eyes. I have decided to renew my vows with running. My sites are aligned on the CMM full and I intend to rock it. I also intend to set a new PR in VA Beach, 13.1 in under 2 hours. Because I want to feel like that again....:guilty: And I want to thank my dad again...:cloud9: And I want my kids to learn that being first is not what makes you a winner...:worship:

So that is my motivational statement for today I guess.... Love to the Goofs!!! :grouphug:

Hey Super Goofs! I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

This morning I went out for my 18 mile LR. And, I never thought I would say this but I felt great!!! I was wondering how my legs would hold up after doing 9 miles yesterday, but it didn't really seem to bother me that much. I am very relieved right now, and I now believe that I really can do the Goofy!! Only 4 weeks to go!!!!

Today's numbers: 18 miles/3 hours 29 min. plus 15 min stretching

I am going to relax for the rest of the day and watch some football.

Cecilia-great job on your 12 miler. You are going to do great in the Goofy.

Beth--Hope you are having fun on vacation..where did you go?

Kim-Sorry to hear about the knee pain. Take care of it, and hopefully it is nothing.

Mike--spinning class!! :scared1: that is my idea of torture...I just can't do it!

Lisa-I was watching the Ironman C-ships yesterday too...and I was in tears also. Those people are so inspiring to me! I could believe that there were 60 and 70 year old doing Ironmans!!! That is awesome! It sounds like you have a great plan for next year and your races.

To everyone else: Hope you had a great weekend!

Keep up the good work Goofs!!! We are almost there!

I am doing my best with my time and miles on vacation in Puerto Rico!

Sunday:

Time: 75 min
Miles: 5.5
