Super Goofs bringing it home for the holidays challenge thread

Lisa: Vacation was nice, coming home was not! Hard to get back to it, with all the holiday stuff to do. I had to clean up the house today, so we can get a tree! UGH.....

Thursday totals

Time: 70 min
Miles: 6

Beth

I am still here..just been really busy this week! Luckily, we have a snow day today from school, so I have been getting some stuff done around the house!

Here are my numbers for the week:

Tuesday: 1.5 hours of ice hockey

Wednesday: 3 miles/32:30

Thursday: 5 miles/56:00

The plan is to run this weekend, hopefully, this snow will stop and the roads will be cleared so I can venture out tomorrow to run!

Sorry for the post and run...gotta get some stuff done!

Yup work is still crazy. But it is 6pm on Friday and I am home already. Woohoo! I'm going to try to get a work out in tonight if I don't fall asleep first. No work this weekend except for the holiday party so I will get some workouts in then too. The new people that are starting on Monday will have another group of trainers. That will be great for me. I've had new hires every two weeks for the past two months. I actually get to follow my people through to their first assignments this time.

Hi Goofs!

18 miles today. one word: "ouch" 3:15:18 and thats with walking the final 2 miles (which was harder than running)

I am too tired to type more.

Cecilia

Well, I got my act together this morning and ran a local 10K race. It was looking good until the end....... 2 ginormous hills........even after walking one still made it to the 5 mile mark in 53:00!!!! The rest was uphill........finished in 1:09:00. I am still happy with it!

Saturday totals

Time: 1:09:00
Miles: 6.2 (double it please!)

Beth

Wow, 2 days of my numbers back to back. Where is everyone? :confused3 Hope everyone is OK with all the crazy weather out there. The pictures we've seen on the news don't look so great.

Sunday...30 mins bike/6.07 miles

Good morning Goofs. Happy snowy Monday!!! We have a fresh blanket of 18-24" and the wind is blowing a gale. Visibility is horrible and there is no school today. My DD-now 14, got her birthday wish!!

Well here we are in the last full week of the challenge. Again, I send my  to the Goofs. We may not be first in the challenge but you all are #1 in my book.

I XC skied on Friday 2 miles, 3 miles on Saturday and then Sunday was filled with field hockey, terrible travel, laundry, wrapping, finishing projects and working up weight routines for my DD14 and 2 friends. I am putting them all on the C25K program so they are running 3 miles by spring. It is mandatory for them to be at 4-5 miles by the fall field hockey season. Needless to say, no workout for me on Sunday. Today is about 3-4 hours of shoveling what the kids don't get done. I will also need to break out the trails for dragging. Yay, I get to take my new sled out!!! :woohoo: Now everyone cross your fingers that I don't get stuck because that will just be :sad2: .

Have a great day Goofs and keep on working hard. The New Year is just around the corner and we have all made such great changes to our health and well being this year that next year can be nothing but wonderful!!! :goodvibes

Hi goofs.

I should really post a few hours after my runs so I have more energy to respond to everyone....

today we had to cut our run short. It was 20 degrees out and WINDY. The first 4 miles were fine but once we got hot enough to sweat, it quickly became miserable. We were about to turn off the trail onto a road and one step into the wind told us we would be crazy to do it.

6 miles in 1:00:02

Cecilia

Hello Super Goofs!! I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays so far! Only a half day of work for me tomorrow then I am off until January!!! :cool1: :cool1:

I hope everyone in the Northeast is staying warm and out of all this snow. Hang in there!

I haven't posted in a few days, because I am just burned out from training. I just wish the race would get here, I feel ready and I just want to do it! this weekend was rough with the weather, I was supposed to do 20 miles, but the weather was not cooperating and I didn't want to risk doing 20 on the TM because the last time I did a LR of 16 on the TM my shins were killing me for a couple of weeks, so I decided against that. That being said, it put me back one 20 mile run. After a lot of thinking, I am just going to skip that run and start my taper. Being that my goal is to just finish this thing, I know I will be OK without the last 20 miler. I am a little disappointed about this, but I am pretty sure it is the right thing to do. That being said, I am in TAPER mode!!!!!

Here are my numbers from the last few days:

Saturday: 5 miles/59:00 15 min stretching

Sunday: 1.5 hours ice hockey

Monday: 5 miles/58:00 15 min stretching

Normally, Monday is a rest day for me, but I adjusted my schedule this week to avoid working out on xmas day.

Sorry not more time to catch up with everyone...keep up the good work!!! I will check in tomorrow!

MERRY CHRISTMAS GOOFS!!

I have to say it today as I will be off for a few days doing the mommy Christmas thing. I wish you all Happy Holidays and hope you have the best of the best time whatever you may have planned.

There is a thread for team captains and teams asking how the experience was for everyone and if you wish to continue. I know that Suzanne has been on the thread and voiced her opinion and I think Beth too (??). As for the rest of you, how do you feel about continuing into next year? If you don't want to please don't think you will offend me as captain, it is a big committment and it requires the time to post your miles etcetera. I completely understand that fact. There are also ideas out there such as rotating weeks for each member to be responsible for miles/minutes posting and such to consider.

I, for one, have enjoyed this challenge. It has given me reason to go on when I could not come up with one myself. It has given me friends that I will cherish forever. It has also given me a shoulder to cry on here and there (thank you Mike). I feel I have come away from this with a better sense of self and I also feel that I have been part of something bigger. Yes, the weekly thread took a hit with some people only finding time to post in one place or the other, but as an experience on the whole, I feel it has been a good thing for everyone. So, let me know how you all feel!!

Love to the Goofs this Holiday Season!! :santa:

Hi team! Remember me? :o

Steve and I haven't fallen off the earth but darn near close to it. My training has gone to pot ever since the San Antonio Rock 'n Roll half-marathon and really, before that. I hurt my knee during that race and re-hurt it during the Dallas White Rock Marathon Relay last weekend. Oh, and falling up the stairs (twice) and landing on that knee didn't help matters. I think I'm going to have to call off the WDW half and just concentrate on my future races in 2009. I'll cheer for everyone on the sidelines. DH, Steve, is still planning on participating, though. He's actually training for his first full - Country Music Marathon in April.

Lisa, can you still take our hours for November - maybe just roll them into December's numbers?

Hope everyone's training for WDW is going well. I'm looking forward to seeing and meeting many of you in January.

Hope you all have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!.

Joyeux Noel and bonne année!

Hi Susie! :wave2:

Went to the mall tonight, it was dead in there. Parked with no problem, walked in the mall with no problem, longest wait in line was about 5 minutes at Bath and Body Works. The WHOLE mall was on sale. Crazy. Went to eat after at a favorite of mine, TooJays Deli, we were one of about 5 or 6 tables in there at 6pm. You would never know it was the day before Christmas eve.

Tuesday updates...50 min walk/3.12 miles
and 30 mins bike/6.17 miles

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

I asked for a boxing bag and I think I got it!! :woohoo:

Holiday greetings from OKW. I've let my weekday runs slide since checking in on Saturday, but I got most of my LR done. 6.25 miles in 1:26:00. I think I'll head out for a short run this morning. I'm letting the family sleep in, but DH's snoring is preventing me from joining them. Besides, now that I finally learned where the OKW-SSR trail is, I'm eager to run it again!

Merry Christmas Eve, all!

I am afraid I have no training to report other than shoveling some snow and taking the dog for walks/romps in the snow. I will try to get a 4 miler in today--inbetween picking up my DH at the airport and cooking the prime rib for dinner--and then probably nothing til Sunday. If I was REALLY a runner, I wouldn't make excuses, so I guess I'm not!

Kim I love OKW--my sister and family are there now! First Christmas they've been away from the extended family in a long time (or ever)

Lisa I am still evaluating my plans for 2009 re:races and so I don't know as if I'd be a good, steady contributor. I think 2009 will be the "Year of the triathlon" or the "Year of doing faster, shorter races". I'm playing it by ear (or ears--Mickey ears?!)

Maura

Hey Super Goofs!! Just wanted to drop in a say Merry Christmas to all those celebrating over the next two days!! Enjoy the time with family and friends!

I did get a workout in last night, and may try to get there this afternoon before heading out for xmas eve dinner.

Tuesday: 6 miles/1:10 plus 10 min stretching

Susie--Welcome back! I posted on the weekly thread but I will say it again here....sorry to hear about your injury..take care of yourself! See you in a few weeks!

Suzanne--an empty mall!!!!!! I couldn't even get close to mall here in NJ, it was CRAZY yesterday!!!! I opted for the local stores instead but there weren't much better. I guess that is what I get for waiting until the last minute!

Kim--Hope you are having fun at OKW! Glad to hear you found the running trail.

Maura--You are really a runner!!!! We all have things that come up and this weather has taken alot out of all of us in the Northeast. Sometimes life just takes over, I can totally relate to that!! Hang in there.

To all the other Super Goofs...Enjoy the Holidays!!
