Super Goofs bringing it home for the holidays challenge thread

Wow! No kidding. Mike, all I've got to say about fantasy football it @*$(&#$ Romo. Grr! I was first in my league and stupud !)(#*)( Romo had to have his worst game of the season this week. GRRR!!!

As for my run today...

2.17 mi/40:02. Not bad, not great either.

Tomorrow is a cross training day per MFM. Maybe I'll go to the gym and bike for a while. And bring the book with me to read about what I should know before I started the training plan. :)

Good morning Super Goofs. Happy Tuesday to all!!!

Mike, hang in. Sending some PD your way for things to turn around. :wizard: Just remember that we love you here when no one else does!!!

Kim, you hang in too. Tis the season unfortunately... My kids can always find a flu that the shot does not cover for me to have during the season of joy! Get well soon.

Megan, I have no miles for you last week. Is that correct or do you have some that you would like me to add in?

Beth,

Angie, keep up the great work. Yay for DD!!

Maura, nice job on the TM run!

As for me, I ran outside yesterday. It was 14 degrees with an unknown wind chill factor. I have the layering system pretty much down pat. I was warm and toasty. The sides of the road were still very icy so I had to walk when I met a car but otherwise, it was a great refreshing run. I got 3.2 miles with an average pace of 13:07 mpm including nearly wiping out once. It was closer than I want to truly admit. Also, my FIL went by me and said I did not get credit for running because he could not tell it was me. All he could see was my eyes!! :upsidedow Today is up in the air as it is going to snow and DD13 has a hair appointment. Did I mention she will be DD14 in 2 short weeks!! :scared1: Time does fly. Tomorrow is rain and Thursday is snow again. Guess I better get some of those sheet metal screws they mentioned in Runners World this month....:sad2:

Thanks for the positive thoughts folks...didn't mean to come in, puke everywhere, and leave.

Mike...

Hi all,
35 minutes for me today since I had PT. (15 minutes on TM as warm up and 15 minutes after on stepper and5 for leg exercises) Total of 2.3 miles.

Lisa I just hate not having good footing outdoors. Fortunately it is raining here today, so I'm hoping the roads will clear out and stay that way for the weekend.

Mike No problem with the venting. Who else will listen and understand?

Maura

WOW! People here need a big :grouphug:

Sending PD to all who are sick! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Mike: Sending you extra PD to help you out of the hole called life!!! I know what you are saying, and totally support ya! We all need a few extra hammers for the stupid people surrounding us! Great idea! We'll come to OH and help you hit some of them!

So, the Super Goofs spurred me on last night. I didn't feel like working out, missed the gym oppurtunity b/c my kids are idiots ((((sorry I shouldn't say that about my lovies, but there it is!))))), but I got myself on my TM and cranked out 5 miles in 65 minutes. I hate my treadmill, but I didn't have to go outside in the cold, and I get to watch what I want to!!! ((((last night it was NCIS!))))) I couldn't let the team down, now could I?

Beth

Hi goofs!

another 8 miles in 1:20 today. Too bad my legs ache from what used to be a "simple" 8 miler.

Mike - Congrats on the deer. I have caught two, one with a truck and one with a minivan. I think it would be awesome to actually MEAN to kill one!
I can't wait to tell Dh about the hammer - he will definately appreciate that! They have reminded him more than once that it is against company policy to carry a gun on company property. He laughs. If he brings his gun, he isn't going to be worrying about company policy....
Dh and I are asking for Lowes gift certificates for Christmas because we have to replace the washer and dryer and the vacuum cleaner.

My knees ache. I am going to go soak them in epsom salts. Perhaps Christmas shopping after my run wasn't such a good idea.

Cecilia

Hey Hey Super Goofs!!! Sounds like some people are having a rough go of it lately. Just keep your heads up and keep on moving...things will get better!

Lisa--Good for you for getting out in that weather! I am so not ready for snow yet here, we have only had a dusting here and there, no accumulations.

Maura--Great job getting that 9 miles done indoors. LR's are no fun inside on the TM. I have read that same quote by Hal Higdon! I actually use his training plans and love them. I just have to get in my head that the run/walk interval is ok during the race!

Mike-Hang in there buddy! I love how you say that you spent 140 hours in a tree for 110 lbs of meat...you sound like my BIL who complains all the time how he sits in the tree for hours and gets NOTHING...although he got a deer a few weeks ago and was very happy!

Kim--Hope you are feeling better soon!

Ok--gotta run...Biggest loser is on and i want to watch!

Keep up the good work!

Tuesday...78 min walk/4.40 miles
and 40 mins bike/7.92 miles

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Anyone on Facebook?

Today...I got some things straightened out at work, and others are still status quo.

Anywho, I got in 1400 yards swimming today...boy did I lose ground with a few months off.

Ironman training starts in earnest in the next 10 days.

I know its early, but Happy chrismahanukwanzakah to all!

Hi Goofs--happy Wednesday. Well, my conf call just got canceled and it's Christmas lunch day here at work so I'm happy right now. Also happy cause I did 4.5 miles (41 minutes) and felt good. Add on another 20 for stretches etc and so I'm at 1 hour even today.

Beth WTG on the 5 miles. You would have to poke me with a cattle prod (Lisa, is that something you have?) to get me to workout at night. I can't imagine how you do it. And Suzanne--crazy!

Cecilia You really rack up the miles. I'm sure I will see your tail lights during the half! If I can find you, I may use you as my "runner to keep in my sights". At least for the first mile anwyay!

Laurie Yeah, it' taken me so long to get to the point where I can run any kind of longer distance that run/walk seems like I'm not "winning". I know it's stupid and I think I've made peace with that for the half.

Suzanne When do you sleep? :upsidedow

Mike Glad things are looking up somewhat.

Gotta go get some work done.

Maura

Mike: Doesn't look like you need my hammer skills yet......let me know if that changes!

WTG with the time and miles, guys!!!

Tuesday totals

Time: 50 min
Miles: 5.25

I did the cross trainer......more bang for the buck! I had a late b-ball game for ds#2, so I only had 45 minutes......which I stretched to 50 min........and went to the game sweat soaked and NOT looking like a fashion model!

Beth

I am also on facebook--- Laurie Petersen (in NJ--you will see my picture from last year's marathon!)

Don't forget to check out the W.I.S.H team group on facebook as well.

I didn't realize there was another Kim Oehrlein on FB. I'm the Alabama one, although still a Jersey Girl at heart!

no miles for me last week. 66 hours at work though. Ugh!

30 minutes of pilates today.

Question for everyone:

is a first generation 30 gig video ipod, 3rd generation ipod nano, and an iphone too many ipods? DBF seems to think so. I don't see a problem with it. The first one is for all my podcasts to listen to at work, and it has almost all my music library on it. The nano is for running, and the phone is for, well, a phone. Each has its purpose. I wouldn't have the iphone if verizon had service at my house. I was very happy with verizon, but could only use it during the day.

Good Morning Everyone-
Sorry I was MIA- LTO but nothing too horrible- just the crazy holiday, school, volunteer activities that pop up.

Just to recap:
Last Thursday (sorry Lisa)- one hour Fitness yoga (love it!)
Monday: rode for 1 hour in 15 degrees (!), 1/2 hour on the elipitcal for 3 miles the 1/2 hour with personal trainer

Tuesday- riding lessons were canceled due to the cold weather (wimps!) so I did 75 minutes of power yoga (super fun!) and went shopping for the girls- can't believe the sales!

Wednesday- rode for 2 hours and had a blast. We had an exciting jump lesson! The rainy, warm and humid weather makes the beast extra nutty and I had some definite wet my pants kind of moments (I didn't really pee my pants but it was scary!) but it was a blast! I meant to go to the gym after but my facial ran late. I haven't had one in years and she convinced me to go more often. It was very relaxing.

I have a busy weekend planned. I am not working so I have a bunch of classes I'm taking at the gym. Have fun everyone!

Good morning Joanne and everyone else too!!

Miles/minutes from last week are no problem because (no shock here) I have not updated the spreadsheet yet!!

Unfortunately, I am not on Facebook. I have certain computer rules for my kids (especially DD13) and I have to live by them also. I feel it is only fair.

I have not been running much at all. I have been doing lots of yoga with my DS7 who is a hoot doing yoga. And, he LOVES it. He things it is great and wants to do it every night so that is what we have been doing. You will have to forgive you captain for being down in miles but I am up in laughs which I think counts for more sometimes. :cloud9: And my DD13 will be DD14 on the 22nd which makes me :sad1: so any laughs are welcome! I will get some miles tonight somehow. We are due for super bad weather. There was mention of an ice storm happening again. Fingers crossed that it does not or you won't be hearing from me for awhile!! We were out of power for a week the last time and we were one of the lucky ones!!!

Keep moving Goofs, this challenge is not over yet....but soon...
