2 miles in (I'm not making this up) 23:23. I wanted to do 3 miles but between the scary trail erosion and near total darkness, I didn't want to take the risk.

Our coaches warned that we are the biggest danger to ourselves while in taper mode and not just from trying to overtrain. So now I'm terrified of a fall down the stairs and the myriad of other stupid ways to hurt myself. Bear in mind, I cracked my patella last fall while sitting at my desk. Obviously I have a "special" talent for injuring myself, so I'm extra nervous!

Hi everyone! I've discovered the way to get my workouts in... take a day off from work! Well, this was a planned day off. We get our sick and vacation days by accrual and we max out at 90 hours (stop accruing). Well, as of my last pay period, I was at 90 hours, so I called in sick today.

We went to Atlantic City yesterday and spent the night so I got a run in this morning on the Boardwalk.

1.51 miles in 22:51.

I wish I had gone further but I'm still glad I got something in!

Monday...30 mins bike/6.08 miles

Had a crazy marathon dream last night. Overslept, the alarm didn't go off so I ran like crazy to the start line but the race already started. So I just start running down the road trying to catch up with the walkers while trying to pin my number on my shirt. Crazy.

That is why I take a nap the day before the marathon - you don't sleep much at night but you will sleep during your nap _ no worries about waking up in time. Then if I lay awake all night before the marathon I am not too worried about lack of sleep.

40 minutes for me today--20 on PT exercises (I think I've exhausted the one they can give me) and another 20 on the stepper (1.75 miles, I think).

Not much else to say.......

Yesterday I ran for 2 miles on the treadmill and had to stop due to knee pain. I did another mile on the eliptical.

1/2 with trainer (no planks! three days in a row was too hard!) I am not loosing any weight and it's so frustrating since I am eating better (no meat, dairy, sugar- no fun either) Trainer says I'm getting stronger and building up muscle but I don't see it.

Good news- I found someone to give my goofy entry to (not a transfer but a gift) Cecilia has kindly offered to mail my shirts- can I still use you as a backup in case this does not work?

Off to ride tonight- had to work today. I am trying to earn money to go to South Carolina again and attend adult riding camp. So fun- I'll be more careful this time.

groovygirls--Glad to hear you found somebody to take that Goofy entry, I am surprised there is someone brave enough to take that on so close to the race and give up the shirts! All I want is the three shirts and the three medals!!!

Just back from the gym and wanted to post my miles:

4 miles/46:10 plus 10 min stretching.

Sorry for the quick drive by...time to hop in the shower and get dinner ready!

Me too but I figure getting a free entry to goofy, sending the shirts is a small price to pay. These will be the most expensive shirts I own!
I will be back for Goofy 2010!

Yes you can still use me as back up. And yes at $70 a shirt, they will be very expensive shirts!

6 miles in 59:20 today wearing my NEW shoes. Ascics Gel Kinsei's - They are expensive (even for running shoes) but they are wonderful. Happy Feet.

Decided for the week before the 1/2 I needed to get on the treadmill again so...60 mins/2.76 miles. It felt like 100 miles though.

Weather looks like its going to turn cold right before the 1/2. Not what I was hoping for.

35 minute swim...call it 1400 yards.

how does michael phelps swim 10,000 yard workouts...good lord!

6 miles in 1:08 today. Nice and Easy.
hmmm I love taper.
I wonder if I will be saying that next week?!

Happy New Year Goofs!

HAPPY ALMOST NEW YEAR FELLOW GOOFS!!!

Got my treadmill time in early tonight...I know its a shock as I usually post at 2am! 30 mins/1.42 miles Watching the 10 day forcast for next weekend, bought a long sleeve tech shirt to wear under my Wish shirt and bought a mesh type jacket that can be tied around my waist but I think instead I'm going to go through my closet and find an old sweatshirt that I can toss after the start. Hey...a couple of less ounces to carry over the finish line.

Wednesday totals:

Time: 22:00
Miles: 2 (double it please!)

Running into the New Year ROCKED! The race was really cold, but it was cool seeing the fireworks and all the people there to watch the cigar drop!

My friend won a 'special' hat in the raffle at the end. If she runs next year's race, she will win $100 if she wears her hat!

It was a fitting end to 2008.

Happy New Year Goofs! I did my final long run before next weekends half and it was great. 10.5 miles in 1:45. Cold, windy, and deliberately slow on my part, but it was the best 10 miles I have ever done (okay, technically it was only the second one I've done, but it was good). I am feeling pretty up right now. Good way to start the new year. Hope everyone else's day is going well.
