Super Goofs are all HEART in February

Snowed in Day 4. Oh look! The Shining is on pay-per-view. We have no phone or Internet until at least Friday and cable is hit or miss, but I can't complain too much because we have power and heat, so we are better off than many.

I road my bike Sat. - I'm guessing 7 miles based on my average time on a real road. Yesterday, I shoveled (the roof!) for 2 hours. How many 'miles' is that? :)

Steve and Angie - congrats on your races!

Suzanne I think I'll just report a monthly total for miles, if you don't mind.
Maura

Sounds good.

M...looks like more snow is on your way.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far. I should be on the bike or treadmill getting ready for the Princess 1/2 but I am just NOT feeling it lately.

Good Morning Goofs,

Suzanne: Sorry you are lacking motivation. Sometimes it just happens. I hope you find some inspiration soon. I'm reporting 24.5 miles for 2/1-2/6.

M: Glad you are surviving being snowed in. At least you have a trainer. That helps a lot.

Maura: Sorry you felt so bad on your run. Hope the next one is better. Tinroof ice cream sounds interesting, what is in it.

Joanne: Good job with the yoga and spin classes. I’m sure that’s a great workout. I like your idea of fun, but not sure what makes a martini dirty.

Steve: Good job on taking 3 minutes off your time. I’m glad the race was fun. I can’t imagine doing a river crossing during a race, but I guess with the rain, you were already wet anyways.

Rich: Good job with the run. It is good to take it easy once in a while. Not that 8 miles is taking it easy necessarily.

Angie: Hope the race went well.

Ashleigh: Good luck with the stroller decision. The only thing I have to add is to decide how important it is to have a compact folding stroller. I had a Baby Jogger brand when I had my son and a Baby Trends for my twins. I loved the Baby Jogger, it was so light and easy to control, went off road nicely and can hold up to 75 lbs. Most of my runs were from home so I rarely had to pack the stroller in the car which was a good thing, because even folded, I could barely fit it in the back of my Outback. The Baby Trends folds up much nicer, but didn’t have the same easy handling as the Baby Jogger.

Kim: How nice of you to volunteer at the water stop. It is a great way to pay it forward.

AFM: I got all three of my scheduled runs in last week. I think I’m finally feeling recovered from Goofy. Yesterday I ran 14 miles. My pace was a bit faster than when I did that same course 2 weeks ago. This morning was some swimming. I’m going to try to fit in a Jillian Michael’s DVD this evening some time, but it may have to wait until tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Hi Goofs! I'm baaaack!

I know it's been a long time. A Loooong time. I was keeping up (more or less) with the spreadsheet last year, but kinda fell off of the group thread. I'll go back and read all of the messages posted so far and hopefully have time to respond to everyone. (Especially since it looks like I'll be stuck at home tomorrow). I'll give a full intro tomorrow for those of you who don't remember me and for the newbies.

Tonight will be the 30-day shread and then the treadmill during the Biggest Loser.

Megan Glad you're back. We need each and every one of our SuperGoofs.

Cindy Tin Roof ice cream is vanilla with fudge ripple and chocoalte covered peanuts. The recipe is from the book "The Perfect Scoop", by David Lebovitz. Looks like it will be a good book to cook my way through, and his blog is entertaining as well, given that he lives in Paris and basically cooks and eats and writes!

I started a new trainingplan today and so I did speed work. This plan is for a 10k. Last year, I took the winter/early spring and focused on running a short race faster (5k). This time, it's the 10k, although I'm not sure I can top the 10k I ran last June. BUt I'll try.

Snow is beginning to fall and I would love a blizzard, but it appears we are in for just 4-8. I am hoping I can take my dog down our local park and have him pull me around on my XC skis--it's his workout, not mine! Anything to tire him out. He's 3-1/2 but still very energetic.

Maura

Glad to see you back Megan! I will add you to the list.

Proud to report that I just got off the treadmill, did 30 mins while blasting itunes since no one else is home. Raining out again, its been a very wet winter for us but very happy its not the feet of snow others are getting. I think the whole state of Florida would shut down. :rotfl:

Hi everyone! I've just been assigned here and wanted to stop in. :goodvibes

I did the Donald and DH and I are signed up for DL 1/2 in Sept for the Coast to Coast. I REALLY want to do the Wine and Dine, but I don't think we can swing it this year.

Todd: I can't believe I missed you cheering at the Donald this year! Did you have your tiara on because that would have been a dead give away??!

M. I just wanted to let you know that you saved me and DH's bacon this year!! I kept chaning my mind on what to wear to the Donald with not wanting to buy and wear new clothes on race day. Then the day came that you changed what you were going to wear and I turned around to my DH and said, Honey, the lady from Alaska is changing what she's wearing, these little thin blooded southerners better do it too! We would have died without you! Or at least probably not finished, which is almost just as bad!

Suzannewes: I did the Princess last year and LOVED IT! I wish we could do it again this year, but it was between the Donald the Princess and we hadn't yet done the Donald. Have a great time!

It's 301 miles from my door to VWL, our Home Away From Home. I did two hours of yard work/bush whacking yesterday!

Welcome to our group Lauren!

I did the Princess 5K last year because I didn't want to do the same boring course as the January 1/2 but decided this year just to suck it up and do it to get my medal. This year was my 2nd Donald and will probably do it again in 2011 to make it 3 in a row but I am actually starting to look at non Disney 1/2 marathons in Florida. I never thought I would say that but the different scenery, different medals and much lower fees are calling me.

I was bundled up in my up north snow mobile clothes and northern moose hunting hat. I was rather sedate on Saturday, late night of traveling on Friday. BUt on Sunday I was more in tune with what was going on and 'out there'.:goodvibes:goodvibes

I hope you can swing the Wine and Dine.:goodvibes:cheer2:

...and it is snowing AGAIN! We walked about 2.5 miles this morning with the dog. Running was out of the question. Luckily, our rink opened at noon, so both my boys had practice. Since it was 'optional' because of the weather, we played kids vs parents for about an hour, so I got in a pretty decent work out. It's funny - they keep getting bigger and better, but I don't!

Lauren - happy to be of service! I really did plan to run in shorts until about Tuesday before the race. I'm glad I didn't! Although, I must say I hate hot and I was wearing a lot less than just about everyone I saw.

Got our 6-8" of snow--enough to be nice, not enought to be too nasty.

Just got back from a nice little XC ski session at the local park. I think shoveling is more of a workout for me, since my XC ski skills don't get a lot of practice. Plus, I'm on the same skis I got 20 years ago!

Booked my ticket to LAX last night and signed up--I'm officially in for the DLR half. I haven't been to DL for 37 years, so I figure it's time to head to California. Plus the lure of an extra medal added to it.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Maura

Well, it's a good thing we have a treadmill in the basement. We got close to 12", and they won't plow our street until sometime later this week. Or maybe next week. Or, they may just wait until it melts on its own.

Anyway, snow day for DS, which means he and DD have been fighting, whining and arguing, and I won't be getting my run in until after dinner tonight.

That's so great. We'll see you there!

Fun, isn't it?! :cool1:

5 miles yesterday!

Hi all,

Tempo run (meh) and yoga today. Trying to stop stressing over U of M not accepting my smart son into their school. They have "deferred" his decision. I mean, isn't a 35 on his ACT, captain of XC team, AP classes and good grades enough? Don't get me started on the teacher who submitted his recommendation late, causing him to be thrown into a later--and less assured-pool of candidates.

Sorry to vent, but sometimes there doesn't seem to be any logic to admissions decisions.

As someone who was 'deferred' at U of M, I can understand your frustration, although I was not nearly as qualified as your son.

Happy Valentine's Day to all my Super Goofs! Hope you day is filled with love!

Thanks, Angie! Same back to to you!

Hope anyone who did the virtual 5k/10k had a good run. I did 10k today--the longest I have run since the marathon--seems like forever ago. But it felt pretty good, so I am pleased.

Time to go watch the Olympics. I dearly wish CBC had the Canadian broadcast rights, since they are far superior in their coverage than NBC. Painful to watch so many hours and see so little coverage--and hardly any live. But I'm still in.

Maura

Thanks, Angie! I hope yours is as well!

Great job, Maura! I agree with you about NBC's olympic coverage!

I finished up week 2 of C25K this week. It has been going better now that I am over having a cold! I think the first 5K I am going to do is a local one on Mother's Day! The weather should be decent by that time of year...hopefully! The snow should be gone anyways...

Thanks Angie!!

Hope everyone had a good Valentines Day.

Lots of sinus problems for me this past week so no treadmill or bike, I barely crawled around the house and at work so I am more nervous about the Princess 1/2 than I should be. I will finish just not feeling great about it. Hoping for much warmer weather also, we've been below average like everyone else and its been brutal here.
