Super Goofs are all HEART in February

Good afternoon Goofs! Congrats to everyone on their races and workouts. Hope those who are hurting are healing nicely.

Is Spring ever going to show? We have been normal warm for the last few days and are expecting another cold front tonight/tomorrow with more rain in the next couple of days. Was hoping to get an outside walk today but my daughter is home sick, first time this school year, and I don't want to leave her so I'll be getting on the treadmill.

One of the chefs that I work with did a 1/2 marathon up in Jacksonville for Breast Cancer Awareness this past weekend and the medal is awesome! The middle part is like a stain glass window. Very cool, I would love one of those for my collection!

Good mornin' Goofs. I need for the Olympics to end so I can get back to my regularly scheduled life.

Yesterday I registered for the SheRox Philadelphia Tri in August (.8K/15.5 miles/5K) and The Nation's Tri in Sept. (1.5K/40K/10K), so I need to get my butt off the couch!

Wow M, out of school since the 3rd?!! Will your kids have to make up the days or will they be excused? Thats alot of days to make up!

They are still deciding exactly how we will make up the 6 snow days (in addition to the 3 they budgeted for). I'm nervous because we are supposed to leave for WDW the day after school was originally going to end.

Hello everyone!!! I am so excited to be joining the Super Goofs!

Welcome Jeanette!

The 5.3-mile went pretty well. I actually finished strong and passed 11 people in the last mile. I beat last year's time by 1:39 so I was happy about that. My arch-nemesis finished 8 minutes ahead of me as I kind of expected.

I checked the race photos and my times online tonight and found my arch-nemesis didn't even sign up for the 2-miler! I checked the photos and he wasn't in the first lap. He was apparently just out jogging around the block to warm up and here I thought I had beaten him. The only way I can barely beat him is if he isn't even racing! Ugggggh. I give up. :confused3

LOL! It is good to have goals, even if they are a little stalker-ish. :)

DH and I are excited to watch the USA against Canada today in hockey! We are huge Pens fans, so it will be tough to cheer against Sidney Crosby...I have to say I probably would be happy with either team winning! It should be a great game, though!

That was an awesome game! Umm, we'll all have to just agree to get along during the NHL season. I'm a Caps fan. I also grew up in Cleveland with Browns season tickets, so if you are a Steelers fan, this could be difficult. :upsidedow

Ashleigh - Congrats on doing the C25K and planning to run a Disney half next year.

Angie - Great job on half #9! It sounded like a nice course and perfect temps.

Maura - I can play nicely with a Caps or Penguins fan but I have to draw the line with a Red Wings fan! :stir: Thornton, Marleau, Heatley and Boyle from my beloved San Jose Sharks are on Team Canada's roster so I was kind of hoping they would win. Then again, it's a Bay Area law to boo Chris Pronger so I felt obligated for root for the U.S.

Jeanette - How cool that you work with Nicole. I enjoyed the women's curling a lot more than men's so I followed it more closely. It's too bad they didn't do better but they were still a lot of fun to watch.

And when, not if, you cross the finish line, any thoughts on what your tattoo will be? It's going in to get it that you'll need the drink! :drinking1

Suzanne - A stained glass medal would look great on your wall. Lately I find I'm checking the pictures of the medals before I look at the course maps. That's probably not the best way to choose my races! I'm seriously considering running a marathon in October to get the medal because the half I'd normally run doesn't give out a medal. I think I need help! :rotfl2:

AFM - I had to keep my daughter home from preschool today because she woke up with pink eye. We went a little stir crazy being stuck in the house so I decided to load her up in the jogger and take a run to the video store two miles away. We got her a few movies and then went to the coffee shop next door so she could get a cookie. Wouldn't you know it started pouring rain and we were stuck out there! I didn't see an end to the rain in sight so I covered her as best as I could and made killer time running home. I got quite a few dirty looks from people driving by! :rolleyes1

My wife decided to run the Disneyland Half with me this year so I just registered her this week. I'm really happy for her. She's not a runner but did a few 5K's the last two years. She wants a good goal to work toward and is excited about it. My MIL who lives about an hour from DL will watch our daughter while we run. I used some DVC points and booked three nights at the Grand Californian starting Tuesday after the race so we can enjoy the parks after some of the crowds leave.

Good Morning Goofs.

Steve: Too bad you got stuck out in the rain with your DD. Great way to get some speed work in though. She probably had a blast. Congrats to your DW for signing up for the DL half. It will be a nice thing to share. Loved the story about you “beating” your arch-nemesis. Better luck next time.

M: Are you finally shoveled out? Hopefully you are all done with the snow down there for this year. Congrats on signing up for the 2 tri’s. That should help motivate you to get up off the couch.

Suzanne: Sorry your DD was sick. Hope you were able to get on the TM. Hope your weather warms up too. The stain glass medal sounds very nice.

Jeanette: Welcome. I had to look up GoWear Fit to see what it was. I’m glad you like it. A 28 week C25K program sounds like you’ll ramp up nice and slowly. A great approach. Good luck with it.

Maura: Glad you got your run in Sunday before the snow. Hope you didn’t get too much this week, although it’s great that you x-country ski.

Angie: Congrats on your half marathon. Sorry about the blisters. Do you use body glide on your feet?

Ashleigh: Hope the snow is melting for you and you don’t get more so you can run outside. Glad C25K is going well. I have to put my laptop right in front of me as a distraction to run on the TM. I watch episodes of Chuck. It’s a pretty good diversion. Glad you are enjoying the Olympics. I am looking forward to watching the Women’s hockey game tonight.

I skipped my run yesterday at lunchtime since it was pouring out and only 38 degrees. Somehow I managed to convince myself to get on the TM last night at 8:30 so I got the run in. I'm usually headed to bed at that time, so it took a lot of talking myself into it. I didn't manage to get to the gym for a swim this morning, but I'm sure I needed the extra sleep.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Hi all,

Cindy Hope you stay dry through the nasty weather I see in your area. I was checking out conditions in my hometown and it looked like really high winds and rain. I think of all the weather elements, it's the wind that tends to make me nervous. Just the creaking and rattling.

Steve Good for your DW! I hope to be able to meet you live at the race. Seems like forever away. Neat about the Grand Californian. I looked at the point chart thinking I might look into renting points....Yikes! It's way more expensive than the WDW resorts, so that won't be happening. And you're not the only one who considers race bling when deciding about a race! As for the Wings....not a really good year for them this year. So you and your high-flying Sharks have nothing to worry about.

Jeanette Wow...a tattoo! Any idea what you'll get? Mel (chimera) has gotten race-related ones, I think.

M Yeah for siging up fro your tris. If I hold true to form, I will not sign up for anythign until the last minute.

Suzanne I was wondering...do you go to the parks very often? Or would that just be overkill.

Ran 5.5 today, followed by yoga. Today's run was much better than Tuesday's speedwork, which I cut short. I am playing around with my eating habits now, since I really just seem to run better on an empty stomach. So no morning coffee--I think it's the milk that does me in. Even if I don't run for 2 hours, I can still feel it. Today I just had Shredded Wheat. And I eat it in a way that no one else I know does-- on a plate, pour boiling water over to soften, drain and top with butter. I grew up eating it this way and I still like it.

Maura

Steve-Thanks! I am with you on the Red Wings! Though I am a little better about them since the Pens were able to beat them last year!

Cindy-Yesterday it was beautiful and the sun was shining! But it has been snowing for about an hour now and we are supposed to get about a foot by Saturday morning...part of this 'Snowicane' or whatever they are calling the big snow this time! Not a huge deal for us, but it will keep my running inside...I do have a TV in front of the TM, though, so tonight I will be watching the women's game as I run. Should be a good one!

M-Yes, I think we can all get along during the hockey and foodball season. We are Steelers fans here, but not obnoxious ones. I can play nice!

Maura-Yes, I can play nice as well! Good friends of ours are origionally from Windsor, so they are Red Wings fans and we manage to still be friends! I've never cross country skiied before, but I love downhill! We get so much snow, I should give cross country a try!

Things are going well here. We are getting another round of snow, but no big deal for us here. I will be finishing week 3 of C25K tonight while watching the Women's hockey game. I will be cheering for USA of course, but Meghan Agosta of Canada goes to college here in Erie. It has been neat watching her do so well, also! Stay warm everyone!

Cindy - Yeah, we're shoveled out. We still don't know how they will make up six school days, but we're shoveled out. You should have gone for your run in 38 degree rainy weather. It would have been great training for this year's WDW marathon weekend!

Jeanette - I ran my first race of any kind (sprint tri), got my first (and only, so far) tattoo, and bought a sports car...all in the six months before I turned 35. Yeah, go ahead and judge me.

DisneyMomma - well...as long as you can put up with an obnoxious Browns fan, it will be all good. ;)

Hi there, Goofs. Long time, no post, but I wanted to give you my February mileage. I've been injured and feeling kind of down about the Princess Half next weekend. I'm still going to start the race, just don't know if I can finish before the sweeper bus. Not much to report due to all the RICE I've been doing lately: 55.28 miles for February.

Ashleigh I just noticed your little Pooh icon in your siggie...Pooh is one of my favorite characters, and my icon for Windows XP login is Pooh. Glad your C25K is going well.

Kim Sorry you've been injured. I hope you enjoy the Princess race next weekend--sending pixie dust your way. pixiedust:

Did my 8 mile run outdoors today--was all prepared to go to the gym, but DH went on a short run and said the roads weren't bad so I ended up outdoors. Much better--8 miles is really more than I want to do on the TM, although I have done it before.

My total for February (including XT miles from biking and swimming) is 105 miles. Not a ton, but a reasonable amount.

Now let's go Team USA hockey!

Maura

Hey Goofs,
Need to read a lot of posts, but just checking in with my Feb mileage.

Total miles (mostly running, some biking): 143.73. A little low, but next month should be better, as I am (belatedly) starting my long runs in preparation for my next marathon.

Hey Goofs, I had 171.3 miles this month, 70 of which was biking. I took advantage of a break in the rain yesterday and took a nice 7 mile run. Today was a rest day but I still swam some laps. I'll be doing 45 minutes of hills tomorrow along with another swim. Less than three weeks until my first tri!

Good morning Goofs!

WOW, its today is March 1st! Time is flying. I am starting the March thread so continue to post over there. Keep the miles coming!

I got in 33 miles. It appears to be a very small number to what some of you have posted, but I'm just starting up, so please bare with me.

My miles for Feb are 41.1 (gotta count that .1 ya know!)

Hi Goofs! I am just poking my head in the door for a message on today's Monday Mixer.

Since Corinna is traveling today, I have volunteered to host the Mixer for a day.

So have a drink, relax a bit and join in the Monday Mixer with us…..
In honor of those who ran the Princess Half as their favorite princess (and other Disney races as their favorite characters), tell us all a bit about your favorite Disney characters.

I'm back from Princess weekend. I'll come back with a race report later.

Doh! I didn't look at the title of the thread...
