Super Goofs 2012

Liz Goodto see you & Patrick, albeit briefly, this year. And looks like your cycling will bekeeping you busy this year. I haven't done a century yet, but I'm sure if I wanted to my DH could find one that he and I could do together. He's the cyclist in the family (cyclocross competitor, wrench and owner of 6 bikes)

Lisa My New Year's resolutions usually sound something like "be a nicer person". Which then ends up being tossed out the window the first time someone does something I don't like (the list is long!). As for fitness/health resolutions--I would like to see 115 lbs (and really 110), but I like food too much to really make the required effort.

Shouldn't have run today--need to give my leg time to heal apparently. So now I guess I'll try this new workout they had on Runner's World called "Iron Strength" or something to that effect.

Don't be playing all innocent on me missy....:upsidedow You know how easily corrupted I am. Promise me a race, food, and Disney and yeah, I'm gone.

Maura: Take care of yourself!!! I have some thoughts of be a nicer person but yeah, I deal with injured people on a daily basis and that just is NEVER going to happen for me. Besides, I am a very nice person, just ask me. :lmao:

So it looks like this is it for now. We can be a tight knit little group. I will let this thread ride through January and we will start a new one in February. First come first serve, BTW, whoever gets on first on the first is tagged it to start the new thread.

Hi everyone!! :wave2:

I don't get onto these boards much but saw this post today and wanted to reply!!

It was great to see some of you at Marathon weekend and I had a blast cheering for the full outside the Studios on Sunday. Not sure what my plans are for the weekend next year as I greatly dislike the 1/2 course and am tired of giving Disney way too much of my money so maybe I'll be out there again cheering and handing out cookies!

I did Warrior Dash on Sunday and that was a huge step out of my comfort zone. I am not a get dirty in the mud kinda girl. My friend and racing partner wanted to do it and never questions me when I tell her which race I am signing up for next and she should sign up too! So...I got a discount code from a friend for registration and signed us both up as her Christmas present. Let's just say this was a ONE and DONE race for me! Her boyfriend was a spectator and took an awesome picture of me jumping the fire pits. I will try and post it on here soon.

I will check back soon and hopefully we can keep the thread going this time around!!

I definitely need to be kept accountable for my resolutions. They are really no-brainers, but for some reason I always find myself slipping. This year I would like to focus on organizing the house, cooking at home more, and getting into better shape. Now is the perfect time for organization since we just moved from Chicago to Atlanta. So far, so good on cooking more at home. Time will tell with getting into better shape. I'm not in terrible shape to begin with, but it would be nice to lose 20 pounds. However, I think I love food and wine too much to get it done. Hence, running...

Tomorrow I have plans for an 11-miler. I'm actually kinda looking forward to it. Once I get to the 10+ mile range on my half marathon training plans, I feel like a mental hurdle has been crossed. It's been much nicer to train this year, too. By this time last year I was doing pretty much all of my training on the treadmill. This year I've done every run outdoors except for one. Now if only I could get used to the hills! I'm hoping that training on the hillier (is that even a word?) terrain will be helpful when it comes time to run the Princess half. Anyone have any experience with that?

Thanks for listening! I think my husband was getting really sick of hearing me ramble on about my training plans, running outfits, needing new shoes, hydration, nutrition...!

Good Morning everyone!
It was an amazing spring day in New Hampshire. I managed to get in a 3 mile walk at lunch around a pond near work. I provide primary care to the homeless and all my patients are welcome to join me. I have one die hard who comes every time! Granted I am a bit of a princess- I don't go it it is rainging or too cold!

GG#1 does competitive cheerleading. Her gym is 45 minutes from home and her practices are 2.5-3 hours long. Not worth it for me to drive home and back to get her so I joined Planet Fitness. $20 a month and I can go to any in the country- not a bad deal. I went last night and ran for 3 miles (first time after goofy!) and worked on legs. My upper body is still not at baseline. My pecs were clipped/reclipped and other stuff done for the surgery. I am not supposed to be lifting more than 10 pounds and it just feels weird- hard to explain.

When are the sign-ups for Goofy 2013? Can't wait for #3!

I am in!!! I was wondering what happened to the Goofs! I kind of fell off the radar when I got pregnant...oops.. But I am back.

I had my little guy Austin in April and I am slowly getting back into shape! I did the second half of the marathon relay a few weeks ago and had some serious foot pain and struggled towards the end..but all the awesome WISHers on the course carried me through! I rested the foot since WDW and now I am back at it.

I just signed up yesterday for the NJ Marathon on May 6, and I will be running for a charity. I will be raising money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. My 8 year old niece was recently diagnosed with diabetes so I really wanted to do this. I am excited about it and hope to keep on track with my training.

I have a few other halfs in mind in March and April, so I will be on here to keep myself motivated!

Gotta go feed my little man, but I will be back to catch up later on. So excited that the Goofs are back!!!

Welcome back Laurie. I'm posting from school so I'll keep it brief.

Yoga and a short lift for me this morning. Shoveling what my kids walked over last night. Hoping for a run or ski this weekend. Somehow I need to rehab this calf. :sad2:

@Joanne - for the record, you are toughness personified! :worship:

The only real resolution I made was to try and get in the habit of doing something other than just run for the year. (I also have a mileage goal - I'd love to hit 1750 for the year, but anything over 1600 is good, really.) So, starting last week, I am in a kettlebell class twice a week at the Y. Let me say, trying to split my run into a "before class" and "after class" is just a Bad Idea.

Gah I hate this commute! I had a plan all nicely laid out to start this past Monday so you'd think traffic would cooperate but nooooooooo.

We're expecting snow tonight so tomorrow morning's run may be moved to Sunday and tmrw changed to a bike. I really hate the dreadmill.

How's everyone doing?

Got my new trail shoes today from Amazon.....Brooks Trailblade. I have scoped out a little trail race series I could do. NOw I just need to go find some trails to go run on!

Still waiting for my hip flexor to heal, so I got in a quick swim, and did part of the "Iron Strength" workout that's on RUnner's World. But only part....I am more like lead (both very soft and very heavy) than iron, so I only did part of it with way fewer reps.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Maura

My FAVORITE picture from Warrior Dash!

hey Goofs! Not much going on for me today, rest day for me, after doing yoga yesterday. I have an 8 miler on tap for tomorrow, and I am actually really
Looking forward to it.

Suzanne-the warrior dash looks like so much fun!! I want to do one of those so bad. The closest one to me is on PA in June so I have to check it out!!

maura-we have a big trail race series in the area and I would love to a race or two if I can fit it into my marathon training this spring.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

We did a Warrior Dash over the summer and had a blast. I was trying to change my avatar picture to one from the race but I am not clever enough. I have never been so muddy!

Finished my 8 miler this morning. Starting to train for the NJ Marathon which is May 6th. Really want to try to get a PR, so I am shooting for just under 12 min miles to do it. I did OK today, my pace was 12:07. The first 5 miles were great then I kind of fell apart for 2 miles and the last mile was great. Not a bad start though.

We are just relaxing tonight here and watching the NHL all star game festivities. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Why do weekends go so fast??? Had my second Yoga class yesterday. This is my first adventure into Yoga. Thought I'd end up giggling the whole class as it has seemed that some of the breathing techniques and the seriousness of some of it didn't fit my irreverent personality. However I'm finding alot of enjoyment in this class (even if the breathing thing still makes me grin). The stretching is great, something I should do more of.

Only had time for one run this week, today the sun was out and it was 35 degrees. It was actually a beautiful run day even if the wind was whipping around. So a grand total of 4.5 miles for the week, seems pitiful. A couple more weeks before the musical and then I'll be able to get back to normal runs 4 or 5 days a week. I finished up the some of the enchanted object costumes (the napkins, the oriental rug). Next weekend is creating the forks, spoons and knives...oh and the whisk. I'm better with the sewing part of costumes creating than the 'crafty' part, so I'm not looking forward to the utensils too much.

They are calling for it to be almost 50 here again this Wednesday. This winter has been not really winter, just a prolonged fall or really really early spring. I'm really not complaining but am worried that we'll get a couple of huge snowstorms late in March to make up for little to no snow so far this winter.

Hope everyone has a great week ahead. :goodvibes to all!!

Jeanne

Checking in. Tired and sore - ran 10 last night (as in, started running about 8:30, did not finish until close to 10), and then ran a most unpleasant 5 miles this morning. Bleh. Hoping the foam roller does some good, anyway.

I love yoga! I try to do a Sunday morning class every week (right after spin class)
I love hot yoga (not Bikram) I can take this class every other Friday- $5 at 5 PM- DH gets every other Friday off so on his off Fridays he can be there with the groovygirls and I can take a power yoga class

Spent the weekend with the gangs' activities. GG#3 is in a competitive gymnastics team. She was first place all around! This was #4 first place all around for her this year- I am one proud mama.

GG#2 is in a competitive cheer squad. She loves it and those cheerleaders work so hard. There is lots of stunting, tumbling, and lifting involved. Her practices are three hours long so I go to Planet Fitness and work out for 90 minutes then sit and knit for the remainder of the time. It drives me nuts when I hear the other moms complaining that they have no time to do these things and they sit for 3 hours! I end up healthier and with a lovely hand knit sweater!
