Super Bowl Menu

Nothing too exciting but I just discovered how to make chicken wings in the air fryer. So that’s what I’m having!!! Covered in old bay with blue cheese on the side

We are having friends over for the weekend (not for the SB) and I am doing this too!
Got my air fryer for Christmas, wings were the first thing I tried and the best thing I did so far.

So everyone I know that has an air fryer tells me you can only cook 3-5 wings at a time. How do you do that for a party?

I would love to try an air fryer, but I bulk cook and it doesn't look like you can cook for a family in any of them. I'd be making 50 batches (note, just a number for example, not expecting to cook exactly 50 batches for those that take numbers to make a point as exact statistical data lately...) just for my girls, LOL. They go crazy over hot wings, especially mine from the grill.

I don't have an air fryer and use my over. After making sure my wings are dry and ready, I throw them in a Ziploc bag that has baking powder and seasonings and lightly shake to coat. I put them on single layer on a baking rack on top of a cookie sheet and let them cook for about an hour on 350 then if using sauce, I sauce and turn the oven up to 400 for about 20 mins.

Here is a basic recipe version broke down from my above instructions.

We are going to a kids 1st birthday/Superbowl party. I have been asked to make my "famous" chicken salad.

Since I am low carb, vegetarian all the people there DEFINITELY are not, I will need to find a few other things to make. Last time I just mixed up a salad at home in my own personal sized container and ate that while they all had hot dagos :rotfl2:

I have no idea what will be on the menu as we always go to my son's house. It's usually a combined Super Bowl/Birthday party for my grandson. This year it is actually his 16th Birthday. The year he was born my son kept telling his wife to wait until after the Super Bowl was over to have the baby. She was in the hospital with premature labor the entire week before so we knew it was a matter of time. My grandson held in there for his dad and came 6 weeks early instead of seven and was born the day after the Super Bowl.

I do know there will probably be pizza and his taco dip. I try and get my husband a ride home so I can leave by halftime.

I literally JUST ordered our wings from Buffalo Wild Wings  Our local (maybe everywhere?) has 50 wings for $30, and I was able to place the order today for pick up Sunday, but half to call back on Sunday to confirm my order or they won't make it.
Last year we had to pick up to go orders by a certain time mid-afternoon, however this year they have waived that requirement, so you can pick them up whenever you want to.

So what is everyone making for the Super Bowl? Looking for inspiration. PS I don’t care who wins. I’m just interested in the food! 😬

I think I'm going to ask DH to make his chili. We haven't had it in a few years, and I am jonesing for it.

Not caring about the game so much (as long as the Chiefs lose). But it's tradition to watch.

Nothing. Working an 11 hour day with an hour+ commute on either end. I will have a light supper and go to bed early - probably just as the game gets going. I catch up on the commercials afterwards.

I prefer boneless chicken to wings when throwing a party, as there are no bones filling up the trash bags. I also like to do a nacho bar, with chips and various toppings.

I dunno. Maybe I'll go out. I've seen the Super Bowl several places including once on a business trip where I found a local sports bar. Been to a few home parties too, including one where our host got this killer (pre-HDTV) signal straight from the unencrypted feed via a large satellite dish in his backyard. It went dark when it was time for local commercials to air.

I got a message from Six Flags Discovery Kingdom suggesting that their onsite sports bar would be a good place to watch the game. I don't know about paying for $12 beers, but their wings are pretty good and I get them with my regular dining pass. The park hours are going to be 11 AM to 6 PM, which is before the end of the game, but that message noted that they'll keep the sport bar open until the conclusion of the Super Bowl. I have been there when other events were going on (like the NBA Finals) and I remember they shut down the TVs promptly at park closing time.

BTW - since I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, I've noticed a lot of brand new 49ers gear. I suppose it's bringing out the bandwaggoners. Even in the East Bay where I live.

There are "boneless wings" although they're really more like chicken nugget with a wing style texture. They're also cheaper because wings and drumettes are actually at a premium these days because of the popularity of wings.

We are going to the local taproom's "Mug Club Members Super Bowl Pot-Luck Party." I was thinking about making buffalo chicken dip but then putting it over noodles, like a casserole, but I had a "cooking tragedy" this weekend. I made a jambalaya-like soup, a big pot with enough for a couple of dinners, a couple of lunches, and half to go in the freezer. What's the oops? The chicken andouille from Trader Joe's is far too spicy for either DH or me to eat! The default plan is to make a pot of rice, put it in the crockpot, and ladle the jambalaya soup over it. It'll be fine for the beer-boys- they love their wings with "atomic" sauce and I'll actually probably bring the Tabasco for them to add to their bowls. It's a win-win for me: My cooking for the party is done, and we don't have to waste food!

I WAS going to make brownie batter cheesecake bars, but I might skip on bringing the food to the family party with the flu being in our house... Might skip the whole event.

Even if my son is quarantined.

I love chicken salad and always looking to try new recipes.
