How is the walk from the Super 8 on Katella to DLR? DH and I often walk to the parking garage from DLR instead of taking the tram and the walk to the Super 8 doesn't look like it would be any longer than that. Anyone have experience with this?

Also, can someone tell me what they offer for their free breakfast? I'm not expecting it to be much but just wondering if we should bring our own food or not.

No horror stories please about the hotel since it's a done deal. :) The Super 8 isn't my first choice of a hotel but DH's family is having a little gathering at DLR and my MIL is paying for all the hotel rooms so we wanted to find the cheapest place. Beggers can't be choosers, right? I'm just looking forward to our little mini vacation.

Thanks!

Oh! How fun! When are you going? (Obviously, I don't know the answer to your question. :rolleyes1 )

Hopefully you can come visit us at DLR when we go- at least one day. :)

We're going Sunday April 5 and staying 2 nights. It should be fun but I'm the only one who likes to plan things in the group so it will be hard not doing things the "right" way. I'm just hoping to at least make it to DL when the park opens since i'm sure it will be really busy later in the day. Everyone else is getting the SoCal 2fer passes so we're doing DL on Monday and DCA on Tuesday.

Yes, we'll have to come visit you at DLR when you're there in June.

By the way, I heard your computer died. I guess it's working now?

Yes, it is working now on 1 gig of ram. Had to take out the others to make it work for some reason. So still have to fix that, but at least it is enough for me to get on here. I had to go read my Disneyland books in desperation. :rotfl:

Looking at the map she linked to, it looks borderline. You could enter the address in to google and choose "walking" and they will tell you how long it takes to walk. Don't know if that is acurate or not but should be an idea.

You guys could always get up and get to the park early and tell everyone else to call you when they get there. This is your chance to get there early since you don't have to drive an hour or so!

Also can't wait to hear how the Super 8 is.

I looked on google and chose "walking" but the problem is that it only lets you put the path where there are roads so I can't check from the gate. From the parking garage, I can only put the google path up to where the sidewalk starts for walking towards downtown disney and on the path from the hotel I can only check up to a spot on harbor next to where you walk into the esplanade, not all the way to the gate so I can't get very accurate distances. Not sure if that made any sense.

If it were up to me I would get up and go to DLR when it opens and meet everyone else later whenever they show up but DH says we have to "stay with the group".

Glad your computer is working again.

We have walked from there. It's doable, 15 minutes with kids. That was in 07 there was not a lot of foot traffic, so a little lonely especially at night coming back.
Re: food we never ate the free brekki although that was one of the staying points for us. It didn't look fresh the first morning so we skipped it the entire trip. But again that was 2 summers ago, it might of changed.
All in all it's a place to sleep and we never spend time at the hotels anyway for them to be anything else :)
Have fun!

My BBF stayed there once, she and her DFi. They said it wasn't too bad of a walk in the morning but at night they really dreaded it. They said they would probably not stay there again because of the walk but that the hotel itself was fine. No word of the breakfast so I can't help you there.

Thanks LuLusApple and Pixie! Looking at the map it looks like it wouldn't be any longer than walking to the parking garage (especially if you have to park on the far side of it, which we always seem to end up with) but it's hard to tell for sure so it's nice to hear about people's experiences.

I think we'll bring our own breakfast so I can make sure we have something good.

Anyone else have experience with the Super 8?
