Sunrise Safari and ECV

DH can walk short distances but not long ones. We are scheduled for the Sunrise Safari and I am not sure what will happen with his ECV. Will it stay with him the entire time or what?
Also, I assume that we are on our own for getting out of AK after the breakfast? We rent a car because he hates going on the bus with the scooter. Maybe I will need to leave him at AK, bus it back to AKL to get the car and then pick him up at AK?
TIA for any info you can provide.

I'd like to think that he would be able to stay on the ECV, but I have never done this before so I'm not sure. I also don't know about the transportation, but I think that you have a good idea about just you getting the bus and bringing the car around. I was able to find the number for the Resort Concierge Itinerary Planning Office 407-938-4755. If you haven't tried them already. I'm sure someone on there could answer your questions very well.

Unless the procedure has changed since I last went on Sunrise Safari, Disney collects everyone from Animal Kingdom Lodge with a special bus. (this is the same as all the hotel to park buses that that are used by Disney). It will have a ramp or wheelchair lift. Normal wheelchair/ECV tie down rules apply. They will check you have valid park passes on the bus.

The bus takes you to Animal Kingdom but turns left and goes backstage at the security gate just short of the regular bus drop off/pick up plaza. You ride all the way around backstage ending up just behind the railway station (to Rakikki's Planet Watch), where you are unloaded, then cross the tracks and go to the loading area for the regular safari trucks. You will be loaded onto one of the trucks. and take an extended safari ride with your guide(s). They will have a wheelchair truck for you if you need it.

After the ride you exit for breakfast. On the way to the restaurant you will see the 'rope drop' guests rushing toward you to get fast passes. Don't get flattened!!!

At breakfast you will be given fast pases to return to the safari ride later.

You are then free to spend the rest of your day at Animal Kingdom. You will have to return to Animal Kingdom Lodge by Disney bus or by taxi, as your car will not be at the park.

I assume you are staying Conciege Level. If so, you can also book the mid day safaris (11am or 1pm) which are, in my opinion, better.

Do you mean the Wanyama Safari? I thought they were only late afternoon? Or is there another choice?

Not the Wanyama, which is at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Can't remember their name. They are available to concierge guests at any Disney resort and are at Animal Kingdom Park.

True you don't get a breakfast or a dinner, but you do get to spend a long time on the savanah in a small 8 seater van (with wheelchair/ECV lift) with two or three cast members (all AK park wardens). You start and finish just backstage in the village where the parade comes out and goes back in. For the most part you follow the regular trail, but you also get off the main trail and park up to look at the animals while the regular safari trucks pass by.

Thanks for the info. I have not heard of this before. I will check it out.
