is it best to buy your sun cream in the uk or wait to we get to florida will be taking four year old with us will the sun cream in the uk be ok for the states ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

I would say in the way of expense...buy it at home. Disney prices on that kind of stuff are outrageous!

You'll be able to pick some up at a Walgreens for a comparable price to the UK.
There are loads of them around - a little like Boots.
Be careful in some of the tourist supermarkets though - eg Goodings as it'll be more expensive.
If you have a brand of sun cream you prefer take it but, if you want high factors you'll be spoilt for choice in Florida ;-)

We generally take our own however, I recently checked the rage/prices in Publix and will probably buy them out there next time.

Guess it just depends on whether you want to try cramming them in your suitcase, with After Sun and Suncream for our son it can take up a bit of room.

thanks for the replys we were going to take suncream with us and i read some where that the suncream you get in the uk is not the same as florida as the weather is hotter than in europe

Not sure that is the case, most of the products appear to be of a similar nature.
Banana Boat/Coppertone and Australian Gold I think were what Publix stocked and averaged about $5.99 a bottle.
They do different factors, 6, 12 etc plus After Sun too, we will certainly get ours over there next time.

Hiya :wave2:

I am planning on buying my toiletries including suncream in Orlando. We are staying in a villa so have to go grocery shopping anyway. Plus we get to save some valuable space in our suitcases!!

Well I actually bought some today, only because Boots were having a buy one get one free offer which seemed a good deal.

I had never heard of Banana Boat until tonight but just read that Tesco are selling this off spray for kids factor 48 at £1.99 :cool1:

We used Banana Boat last year for dd and it was great. Will be getting it again for her this year :cheer2:

As for us i will get buy one get one free from boots for myself and DH and end up getting more out there. This way we will have some for the first few days.

www.ultrasun.co.uk

this stuff is magic, looks like water, need only apply once and is fully waterproof/sweatproof. Apply one hour before exposure to sun, we haven't used anything else in 13 years.

It's good a stopping your skin burning but if you want all over skin protection then this stuff should be avoided. Ultrasun (and P20) both filter one type of ray strongly (UVB the one that burns) but lets through much more of the others (UVA+C). The others penetrate your skin deeper. It's these deeper penetrating rays that cause the long term skin damage.
I'm not saying not to use this stuff, just be aware of what it actually does.

I must say I have never heard of Ultrasun- and I think I'd be scared to just apply once per day as I burn very easily...although it does say it's ok for sensitive skin.

I like Banana Boat as they do a high-factor non-greasy formula which doesn't make your skin feel all clogged up even after several applications.

Thanks for your info Daywalker about the different rays- I'd rather be protected from everything I think!

I always use P20 or P30 if I can get it, as it was recommended by a Doctor friend. It does allow a tan without ANY burning at all, and I burn easily. It does however, stain clothing if in contact with perspiration.

Well I have explained what it does in my last post. A tan = skin damage.
Like I say, as long as you're happy to use it that's fine. Personally I use a high factor sun screen that screens ALL UV rays out, I usually use a sports brand as it's sweatproof. I don't burn & I don't tan but I know my skin is safer using this.
