Sun cream

We always buy in the UK before we travel but as we normally go off-peak (Sept-Oct) we pick it up pretty cheap here by waiting until the end of summer.

I have heard that US sun cream is made of a different formula to ours and is not quite as strong (don't know if this is true!) so if you are used to UK sun cream you may want to stick with that, especially if it's for kids too.

If you are wanting to buy when you get to US then you will find it pretty cheap in places like Walmart & Walgreens, much cheaper than it sells at full price here.

I always take it from here too, mainly because I will know that will all be gone when we come home so it's a bit of a weight saving, same with toiletries and stuff..

Tesco had some great offers a few weeks ago, I got 5* nivea and Ambre Solair really cheap.

Always buy it there - I hate the stuff you buy over here.

We buy Coppertone spray on - and you don't have to rub it in. We get the kids factor 50 for DD and 30 and 15 for us. None of us have burnt using it and DH is fair skinned.

We always buy it there too, along with almost all of our other toiletries that will get thrown in the bin if there is any left at the end of the holiday.
We have found Ocean Potion to be very effective, and it comes in a spray so it is really convenient to have in a bag for topping up in less than a minute.
As for an idea of prices check HERE

Use my Boots loyalty points to buy suncream :)

Get factor 50 (why buy different factors for different family members - surely you all want maximum protection :confused3)

We buy in the UK, dont like to use my spending $$$ on boring bits like suncream. Also my DD gets bad eczema so like to take suncreams that I know wont effect this.

Another one who buys out there !!!

We use the coppertone spray on for the kids and its fab!! We have never burnt and we can spray all 4 kids in just a few seconds!!

I buy all toiletries out there as its cheap as chips and saves me worrying about forgetting something this side !!

same here, always buy the sun spray, shampoo and shower gel there!

Another vote for the coppertone spray that you buy over there. It's brilliant and its on within a matter of minutes without having to get all sticky. :goodvibes

We use Target's own brand spray sun tan, I think it's factor 30 or 40 for the kids. So quick to use, one kid, 360 deg spin, all done! When they are bursting to get into the fun at a waterpark, the time saved is worth every cent.

I buy Clarins suncreams here. They're the only ones which don't contribute to my prickly heat! The worst ones btw, are avon. I've also used NO AD sunscreen which I've bought at Walgreens and that's ok too:sunny:

I always buy out there. Even at Walgreens it is cheap ($1.99 for their own brand factor 30). I don't feel like I am really in Orlando until I smell of Walgreens sunscreen!!!

We always buy there. We go for panama jack or banana boat oil usually.

I was told buy a friends mum years ago who was a dermatologist, that the sun cream/oil you buy in the country you are in, is made to be used in that country with their weather so we have always stuck by that advice.

(until we picked up deep tanning oil by mistake which has a spf of 0! so we pay a bit more attention when we buy now)

Here's the questions I'd ask myself:
1) Will I be able to get to a store off park property? The prices on property are higher.
2) Do you want to spend the time shopping for these items instead of enjoying your vacation.

Recommendation:
Instead of carry a large bottle around, my family gets small bottle of lotion along with the large bottle. The large bottle is for the room and the morning coating (or trips to Typhoon Lagoon/Blizzard Beach). We refill the small bottle from the large to carry into the parks.

I just buy it here and leave behind what I don't use. We stay onsite and I just can't be bothered to go running around for sunscreen to save a couple of $$$. I prefer the sprays. Just have to beware of kids applying spray sunscreen to your back when the wind is blowing :rolleyes1

And welcome to the DIS Todd :goodvibes

We always buy all things like that (apart from perfume which is equal or can be dearer) over there. Usually you will find things are the same price in dollars as they are here in pounds and as far sun cream goes I've always found there is much more of a range etc. Isn't that always the case though? Everything in America is bigger, better and more range. I too am a lover of Australian Gold :thumbsup2

We also do this to save case space and weight :goodvibes

I can understand people that are staying on site and not having easy access to transport finding it an issue, but as we stay in a villa and have to grab provisions every now and then anyway it's not a big problem.
