Summer Vacation Time - San Diego, Hotel Del Coronado, Catalina, and of course DL

Very nice pictures of FFI during your visit. I have never stayed at FFI and was considering staying there. But when I look at the prices at FFI and compare to other hotels like BWPPI, BWAI, HOJO, etc. on Harbor Blvd, it just wasn't worth paying more when I could stay at those other hotels at a better price. Sometimes FFI have better prices then the other hotels on certain days and seasons. I also like the location for FFI just as you said that it is close to McDonalds.

I really think its one of the best on harbor blvd. We have done HOJO, FFI, and BWPPI and rate FFI the best of the three.

The Fairfield looks nice! It seems like one of the nicer "motels" on Harbor. Was there freeway noise/shaking like at Hojo? That pretty much drove me away from that place.

No noise for us. We were facing the pool area but we have also faced HOJO before too. Never had an issue.

Mike, the rooms seem pretty good sized at the Fairfield.

Yes for a family of five we were very happy with the room size. We have done a variety of rooms before (Port Orleans Riverside in WDW is too small now for us, Grand Floridian and Californian are our favorite hotels, and for going cheaper we like FFI the best). We did Best Western Park Place Inn but it was just my wife and I for one night. It seemed pretty spacious too but we like the FFI better. We also have stayed at the DLH and it had very spacious rooms too.

Nice! You mentioned that the room has a pull-out, did you get a photo of that? While we are only a family of 3, we all sleep best if we have our own space (and if you really want to get technical, we all sleep best in our own rooms, but that isn't going to happen on vacation).

Side story....

We always end up seeing some kind of celebrity everytime we go to Disneyland. I have to stress some kind of celebrity. This year was no exception. We saw Marlon Wayans, Dave Foley (flik from Bug's Life and Kids in the Hall fame), and these people....(Sister Wives Tv Show)

I don't have one of it pulled out but here is the chair. Pull off the cushion and then it pops out like a sofa bed. It's pretty decent.

Well that would work just fine for us. My kids fight over the pop-over sofa bed in WDW deluxe and DLR hotel rooms. Hey, as long as we all get our own space, it is f.i.n.e. with me!

So now the celebs, wow! I wouldn't know anyone from "Sister Wives". And I tend to totally not notice celebs. Last year we saw some groups with a plaid, but I didn't recognize the group members.

On the other hand, when I was 15, my mom took my BFF and I to WDW. This was a year or two after EPCOT opened, and the Grand Floridian was new and special. On day 1, we overheard that Billy Joel (who we LOVED and while we were visiting my family's house in FL we listened almost exclusively to Billy Joel tapes (yes tapes, CDs were only for rich people back then)) and his wife Christie Brinkley and their young daughter Alexa were staying at the GF. On Day 2 we were on the monorail, and when we stopped at the GF this attractive blonde woman, a cute 3 or 4 year old girl, and a bunch of suited up men got on our monorail car. Yes, we rode the monorail with Christie Brinkley and Alexa, and their bodyguards. I was 15, and this was before cell phones, so I did not get a photo, but the memory will last forever.

I think nowadays if I were to see a celeb I would just not even notice.

"Sister Wives"! You mean the polygamist family? Was he there with all of the wives and all the kids? I wonder if they were going to be filming their DLR visit for their show.

You'll like the location. Will this be your first time?

Second! My husband and I stayed at the HoJo last time. This trip I'm going with my mom though and it IS her first time!

It looked like they were all there. There were no film crews or anything like that. Looks like they were spending their July 4th Holiday at the resort. We had just stepped out of Riverbelle Terrace for breakfast and my wife had spotted them. It was as your walking down to Pirates. Everybody was taking pics and after a snapped a couple I was feeling bad and left them alone. They seemed upset about everyone coming up to them.

Awesome. As you know the FFI is closer to DL. I like saving those extra steps and I think your mom will to. Here is a shot I got from FFI looking out towards HOJO.

Fairfield Inn looks to have a consistent approach to their room layout and decor, which is good! Your room looks identical to a Fairfield Inn I stayed at in Massachusetts, which I really enjoyed. Something can be said for consistency across a brand. :)

Thanks for the great shot!

I knew it was closer, but couldn't remember by how much.

Mike, I enjoyed the FFI, in November. It was actually warm enough to sit by the pool, with a glass of wine, in the afternoon.
The room was very roomy, and modern.
Also love the Marriott reward points!

Can't wait for more pics..... and report!
