Summer - Never Again!

I also refuse to pull my children out of school for vacations. They are only 7 and 9.

We go every summer and the heat in Florida isn't any different than the hot sticky weather we have at home. The big difference is that Florida might have a nice shower to help empty the parks and cool everything down. If we get rain it's usually an all day ordeal. :)

I love going during the summer. I've been a bunch of other times when my kids were younger, and August is really my favorite month to go. Don't have to worry about pulling our kids out of school, crowds are manageable, the rain and air conditioned rides feel awesome, and I never really considered it to be too hot.

People usually look at us like we're crazy for going during the summer, and that's fine with me, because those people staying away mean we'll have fewer crowds to deal with.

Thanks for all of those posting positive summer experiences! I am looking forward to our August 6th-12th trip. We have been twice in March and once in late May previously. This is the only time we could go this year. I have been watching the late night wait times at MK and they look great! We are staying at the CR for the first time so we plan on doing several late nights at MK. So excited!

My wife and I went on our first trip in May of 1999 after she graduated nursing school (my very first trip was in 1972). We both agreed "Never again!", lol. Every trip after that, we have gone during the fall. The older we get, the less we can tolerate the humidity and heat.

Summer is for beaches and water parks. Spring and fall are for Disney/Uni/Seaworld parks. The only exception is a night at MK starting at 6 pm or so after it starts to cool off and staying til midnight.

LOL... Not for everyone. DH and I both view beaches and water parks like you would Disney in the summer. Miserable and not a vacation in any way.

I've also been very nervous about our first summer trip so thanks for all the positive posts. With a school age child June/July is really our only choice so I'm determined to make it work with the heat, humidity, storms and whatever else Mother Nature throws at us.

We were there June 3-11 and there were a couple days where the rain lasted for an extended time. Actually had to take cover in the stave church in Norway for about an hour during an absolute monsoon on one occasion. That being said we always go in early June knowing that there will be some rain. Honestly if it isn't a total washout, the rain is kind of refreshing at times.

The most disgusting six months of my life were the five days I experienced WDW in summer. Or at least that's what it felt like. Never, not ever again. Some people are ok with it. Some people literally can't physically endure it. We're in the latter group. The problem is, it's hard to know which group you'll be in until you get there. I didn't expect it to feel as alarming as it at times did. Next time, spring or fall.
