Summer/Fall 2020 - are you going?

Our May trip was cancelled, we postponed August until April 2021, have early December 2020 with banked points, but we are OK with cancelling and losing the points if the Covid 10 situation does not improve.

We were originally going in August, we rescheduled to December. We are at a wait and see point right now. If we can't go in December, we are hoping on May 2021, if not we'll lose our Seaworld/Busch Gardens tickets.

If we STILL can't do that, we were planning a big family trip in 2021 fall sometime, haven't figured out the dates. Luckily our Universal tickets are good until almost the end of 2021 and will just come down a few days early to use them before the family gets there.

April 2020 WDW was cancelled by Disney.

September 2020 to Disneyland I cancelled, since between not having park tickets, uncertainty on whether the state would allow the parks to open, requirements to quarantine before returning to work/my home state and uncertainty about the national parks it became too much.

November - WDW I'm keeping for the moment, but might be tempted to switch to Aulani if my in person marathon is definitely canceled and Aulani reopens in time.

Beyond that in 2021, it really depends on whether the rundisney events are cancelled.

Scheduled for August but still watching the situation before making a final decision. We would likely lose a few points if I cancelled that late in the game, but I'm more concerned about the health and well being of my family than I am about points. We shall see...

We have a reservation for October booked with points that will expire November 30th if we don't use them.

I'm waiting to see what the numbers look like at the time…a lot can change in three months. If things aren't looking good, we won't go but I'll be darned if I cancel and let my room go back into their system. It will sit empty for a week without us.

Just cancelled a September trip. It was especially hard for me to cancel, because it was a yearly tradition to go then, stay at BCV for the F&W. But this year, I decided it just wasn't worth it.
So right now our first DVC trip is scheduled for November at DHHIR. First WDW trip is scheduled in January. Really hoping for that one-finally got a lake view at VGF.

yup, as long as allowed, we're still going late Aug/Sept, October, & December. We're no rope-dropping, open to close, run-go-run WDW people anyway, so a quieter, less crowded experience will most likely enhance our trip

April cancelled, July cancelled- took a chance and booked November with November 30 expiring points. As long as it's safe to go- we are going. So much can change in 5 months.

We hope to go 🤞for our early Oct trip but waiting to see. Have Christmas too. Can bank all my points but I really would like to go. Not sure about the parks~ not wasting my non~expiring park hoppers! Would be thrilled to just walk around Crescent Lake every morning and have a change of scenery ~ been working from home since March and not going back anytime soon.

We haven’t cancelled our late August trip yet, but it’s not looking good. Even if FL lifted the quarantine for NY travelers, the NY quarantine from FL doesn’t look like it’s going away any time soon. We can’t quarantine for 2 weeks after we return because DH and I have to go in to work. Still hoping the numbers see a turnaround in the next few weeks, but it looks like we will have to cancel, maybe if I say it enough times I’ll be able to do it without feeling too sad about it.

we have 12 points that were banked that will expire 1/31/21. In the general scheme of things, that’s nothing, but I’m just sad that we managed to get all the park and dining reservations we wanted, and I was so excited to experience WDW with low crowds. We were supposed to go with another family and they had to cancel early because one of the parents lost their job and they also had a covid death in their extended family.

What would you do with the expiring points? Let them go, or use them to shoot for a long weekend in January, or rent a dedicated reservation?

We’re right with you. We will rope drop, but not close anything down. Just gonna enjoy lower crowds, eat what we can with no reservations, and enjoy the resort. If my state makes us quarantine when we get home, not a problem. We work from home anyway and it will give my mom a reason to not stop over unannounced!

So far our December trip is still a “go”. Will have to make a final decision once May airfare is posted with Southwest. That’s when our next VGF vacation is scheduled and when I will need to move my airfare to that May. So around October is when we will have to finally decide.

My dad and I are still planning to go in late October. I work in EMS so I have been watching COVID unfold firsthand here in Michigan. I have a healthy respect for what it can do and I take it seriously. That being said, I have also decided that I am not going to live out my days in a bubble. Disney is taking precautions and so will I, just like I do every day at work. I will be careful with what I touch, I will wash my hands frequently, I won't touch my face and I will wear a mask when I am unable to maintain a 6' distance from other people. Other than that, I will enjoy my vacation because I will need it...even if it means simply walking around the parks or sitting by the pool.

Canceled our July trip to BLT when it was announced that only 2 parks would be open for the first 4 days of our trip. Rescheduled to January 3rd. A lot has changed in Florida, and really everywhere else south and west of where I am here in PA. We would've been leaving next Friday to start our trip, but now I'm kind of glad we're not going.

Is anyone still going? If so, what are you planning, if anything, that you would not have normally done before? Would love to hear peoples thoughts on WDW in the current environment.

If you are going, have fun, be safe!
We were at the Yacht Club in November 2019 and usually spend 10 days every other year. I would not feel safe until there is a vaccine. I’m planning late 2021 or 2022 depending on what happens. I think to fully enjoy all that Disney offers I would put any trip off until it’s fully functional and safe for everyone. Life is precious and it’s a lot of money, so I want to make sure we can do everything without any restrictions.

We have Vero this month, Riviera, resort only stay, no parks for us. Have a HHI reservation for August, but won’t go if cases and hospitalizations are still high. We are concerned about restaurants and no mask wearing by patrons. Will watch and wait... If trend continues that way, will cancel. At least in Orange County, masks are required.
