Does anyone know when the itineraries for Summer '27 will come out? We're looking to take a multi-gen cruise but with a pretty specific itinerary. It doesn't seem like longer itineraries are that consistent year to year on Disney so not sure if I can use those to get an idea of what they'll have.

Grandpa wants an itinerary either leaving or arriving in Venice (Ravenna). Currently we're looking at 10 day Ravenna to Rome itinerary that stops in Croatia too. Going to Athens would also be an option (but thats basically it). Any experts have an idea how likely it is that this could even exist? We're ok waiting but if it isn't going to happen I'd like to book sooner rather than later since we need 3 rooms.

Disney Cruise typically announces summer cruises in February or March of the previous year, so summer 2027 will probably be announced within the next 3 or 4 months.

As far as I can tell, DCL has never sailed to or from Ravenna, and hasn't visited Venice since 2014. The Dream is going to Dubrovnik, Croatia, in June 2026, which is the first stop there since 2022 (which was the first since 2014). So a stop in Croatia is possible, but Ravenna is unlikely (but not impossible).

DCL has been stopping Piraeus near Athens several times each summer starting in 2022, so cruises stopping there in 2027 are very likely.

So helpful thanks! It doesn't sound like it's worth waiting since I think Ravenna is the priority here.

He has 3 trips left that he wants to take while he still can and Eastern Med is one of them (and we can't take the kids on a Viking Cruise). I really appreciate you sharing all your knowledge!

The large cruise ships really wreaked havoc on Venice's delicate "arrested state of decay". Lots of protests. No longer allowed. Ravenna is a 2 hour bus ride (90 miles) away from Venice. Maybe you could fly into the Venice airport (or take the train there) before or after your cruise if you really want to see the city. It's pretty amazing. HUGELY crowded in the summer though.

From the Venice Airport you can take a boat (scheduled service) into Venice proper. Takes about 50 minutes but it’s a cool ride! To see Venice from Ravenna would mean 4 hours on a bus round trip.

Also 2027 the Wish is supposedly the ship going to Europe and then she can do her 5 year dry dock. So I don’t know if that would effect the itineraries since Wish runs a different fuel than earlier ships

Were doing a cruise next year on the NCL Viva that starts in Istanbul and ends in Venice with stops in Croatia, Montenegro and several in Greece. They do have some that start or end in Rome. It's a new ship and has laser tag, go carts and virtual game room for kids. I don't know if it's offered in 2027, but it may be worth checking out.
I've done several European Disney cruises. I'm not anti Disney, but I doubt they will do an itinerary that you are describing. It's the reason were not sailing on Disney next Summer.

NCL’s “Venice” port is in Trieste, 95 miles from Venice. No ship big enough to have go carts will be anchoring anywhere near the actual City of Venice.

Dcl cruises start in rome. Why dont you just spend some time before the cruise in italy including ravenna and venice. Venice is only 4 hrs train from rome. In between that is florence (the best city of the three).

Frankly its madness to fly to europe and only do a cruise without any time on land unless you do europe often and have only a very short time. The cruises only give you a very small taste of these places and never at night. Venice, rome and florence are most magical at night. I would spend atleast a week in italy first and then do the cruise.

Not sure how much time you have for the vacation, but Venice is not that far from Rome at all. It’s about 3.5 hours by high speed rail. So, you could easily add it to the start or end of a trip from Rome and just fly into Venice or out of Venice. Considering how far Ravenna is from Venice proper, you would have a lot of transfer time anyway.

What's the over/under on how many pages this thread gets to before the itineraries are released? LOL

We did NCL Vivia this summer :) on a Greece itinerary. Loved the ship as an adult but not too much for kids.

We definitely hope to spend more time than just the cruise, but are limited by vacation time as well. He plans on going to Roma as a separate trip before this one.

Thank you for the advice and ideas everyone! Here's a little more detail:
We're trying to take a family trip--2 families of 4 with girls from 5-12, grandma and her boyfriend (of like 20 years so my kids effective grandpa). Grandma wants to do whatever we are willing to do. Grandpa is 75 and concerned about how long he'll be able to travel (no health or other issues just doesn't know how long he has til he does). He is *very nice* and totally willing to sit out a trip out AND still pay for it; just doesn't want to go if it isn't something he's interested in.

To give you an idea, he has been to every state besides Hawaii, so we suggested Hawaii. He does not have a "burning desire" to see Hawaii so said he would still help pay for everyone else but not attend himself. I adore him and would like him to be there so I want to find something he will not just pay for but attend. That, however, is highly specific, so a "that's totally similar" is not going to cut it. While I am not as well-travelled, he is and has put careful and specific thought into these preferences. He has 3 trips he wants to take:
at least a week in Rome
A French River Cruise (just booked)
A cruise from Venice to Athens/eastern Med

He likes to cruise on Viking but enjoyed Disney when we did Alaska. I think he wants to start or end in Venice so we can spend extra time there. He was happy with the itinerary we found that went Venice to Rome on Celebrity but his exact trip was to stay in the Eastern Mediterranean. I think it will need to come pretty close to his desired trip to work from him (and again, he's being super nice about, *I* would like him to come.)

Your mid to smaller ships can go to Venice but usually in Fusina which is the industrial port on the mainland about a 20min or so bus ride from the old terminal on Venice island itself. Your river ships are the ones that so long as they are small enough can actually dock in Venice. When we did our cruise in 2023 (the ship had a max of 600 passengers) we were out of Venice with the terminal being Fusina. A Uniworld river cruise ship was docked in Venice proper. We flew into Venice and stayed on the island of Murano. That hotel had a boat that took you from the airport to their hotel.

The cruise line we do Venice is a common start or end destination and our cruise did Venice to Athens with stops in Croatia, Montenegro and several others in Greece. However, it's not one that is suitable for children not because there's a minimum age limit but that there is nothing for children and consequently you don't typically see them on there.

A word of caution about Venice is because it's transportation is boats make sure your grandfather can adequately get in and out of the boats. We used their public boat transportation and they don't wait for no one when they pull up to the docks. We kept saying I don't know what people do when they get elderly here because you don't really see mobility considerations. I'm not talking about the obvious cobblestones and bridges I'm more meaning transport. If that is a big bucket list place for him I would honestly suggest making that the priority trip. For us we flew in 2 days ahead of the cruise and stayed 2 days after the cruise to explore Athens.

Trieste and Ravenna are used for larger ships that cannot dock in the Venice area. Trieste would be much more preferable to Ravenna but Fusina is the best. I know on our 2023 cruise there was an MSC ship also docked there but I can't recall which one. The upper lines (luxury/ultra luxury as well as certain premium lines) are the primary ones to use Fusina as they are mid to smaller ships.

I suspect that it will be a late release like the last one... DCL clearly wants people sailing soon (hence the extra placeholder discount) and not waiting for a later sailing. The Wish is 99% likely to be in Europe for the next release (she was shown listed on some ports and then scrubbed)

Finding that itinerary on a ship that's suitable for kids will be a challenge. The best itineraries are 99% of the time on the older ships. Have you looked at Princess they usually have some nice itinerary's? They do have a Venice to Athens cruise, but the dates might not work with kids.
