Summer 2024 Direct Incentives

Having a small amount of regret that I didn’t buy 200 points at riviera to get to the next level of incentives 🤣🤣🤣

Because adding on 50 direct later on is more expensive without the incentives….

Should I just sit tight and buy a 50 point resale contract in the next few years and get a second home resort like a MK resort so I have two home resorts?

I would diversify and get an MK area resort personally.

We went through this decision during our planning process as well, and decided diversification was a better option. We actually did a BLT contract first and then struggled with adding on Poly or Riv, so sort of the reverse approach. Ultimately landed on Riv because Epcot is my favorite park!

Yes!!
This is the way. (especially if you already have your 150pts/benefits)

Was going to do the same thing with 150 Riviera direct and eventually 150ish resale at BLT. But the recent incentives for Riviera came out and it made more sense buying an extra 100 direct points at Riviera now at 143/pt more than I'd pay for 150 points now. The difference of 100 BLT resale and an extra 100 RIV direct is likely less than $2000. Also it doesn't look to me that BLT rooms are super difficult to book at 7 mo if you are OK with lake view studios or pretty much any 1BR.

Yes, all good points! We went with a small BLT contract first back in February so were already committed, but if you are buying that many points, I can see this working.

My husband also wanted a lower dues property (although we will see over time with BLT) but with your approach, you also get an extra 10 years on the contract, so all things to weigh up.

The main benefit from owning BLT IMO isn't the availability, it's being able to book TPV rooms on special holidays and rooms in general for MNSSHP and MVMCP. The dues are also pretty nice but yeah otherwise lake view is easily booked at 7 months. There also isn't a huge point differential between standard and lake view studios with most cases being like a 10% difference compared to like RIV where the difference between standard and preferred is 20-25% usually.

Any opinion on CCV versus BLT for a MK resort if I decide to buy resale? Not super interested in poly or GF but if there is a good direct poly sale, which I really doubt there will be, that would swing me that way.

I foresee spending weeks at Vero beach when my kids aren’t interested anymore and I worry since it’s a 2042 resort that I won’t be able to use resale points for what comes next there….

CCV if you want theming and holiday decoration, BLT if you value proximity to MK and being on the monorail to avoid taking a bus to Epcot potentially.

Some people love the tranquility that Wilderness Lodge brings and others love being able to walk back to their resort after fireworks. Do you care more about those Christmas decorations and that fireplace going in the lobby or do you care more about watching the fireworks from your room with your family? It’s entirely subjective. Our personal taste is being on the monorail but we prefer the theming at Poly and overall vibe of the resort to VGF/BLT but all of them including CCV are fantastic resorts for different reasons. Feels like I’m trying to pick which color M&M tastes better.

Same line of thought for me, I think buying 50 more riviera points during this cycle is maybe $500 more than buying 50 resale in a year or two……

I think I’m too late at this point though, I had my virtual notary appointment yesterday šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Are you still within your 10-day window? And even if you’re not I feel like that’s something the right guide could get approved with the right manager…

If you are paying cash and spreading the payments out, you can likely still adjust the contract to add points.

It’s the blue m&m’s obviously.

In all serious, I completely agree with @intamin on this. We already owned at Poly and VGF before buying into CCV so we don’t see it as our MK resort, per se. We wanted CCV because we wanted access during the holidays. We toured it last December and absolutely fell in love and knew we needed to own there to have a whisper of a chance of booking the rooms we want in December.

BLT is not my cup of tea but I’ll happily eat my words if the refurb works some magic and makes me want to stay there lol. When I’m at WDW, the atmosphere of the hotel is as important as how quickly I can get to a park so we’re happy to take a quaint boat ride across Seven Seas/Bay Lake to get to Magic Kingdom over a 5 min walk over a busy road because Poly, VGF and CCV give me the Disney feels.

That being said, if you need 5 in a 1bdrm, BLT is the way. The 2 bathrooms and extra bed space are great (Or you could just go up to a 2 bedroom in CCV for just a few more points šŸ˜Ž). Fun choices all around but I’d say maybe take a tour of both before deciding to get a feel of the resorts and see if taking a boat to MK v. walking will annoy you or if the theming of one or the other speaks to you.

I promise you that if you call up The Walt Disney Company and say you want to give them MORE money, they will move heaven and earth to make it happen.

So you're saying I could tell my wife we're buying 200 points and then bump it to 250 2 months later.. 😈
Just note you'll have to sign e docs again. My husband, who whizzed through the DocuSign in less than 30 seconds, definitely noticed the price adjustment when we got the Disney Visa discount. There went that (theoretical) plan. 🤣

We bought at BLT as we found a really good price and we prefer the ability to walk to MK and be on the monorail line (and they are largely going to be SAP) but based on pure availability and need for home resort advantage, CCV would be the better option IMO. BLT 7 month lake view availability is fairly easy.

CCV is technically considered the most economical based on average resale prices, years left, etc. but they are both close in price overall.

I'm pretty sure she'll be okay with it if I tell her I'm paying for the extra points.. in our relationship I'm the one who combs through the contracts and reads the POS for fun. She didn't even realize until a few weeks after we had signed that I got us in for 185 for RIV instead of 150 even though we had talked about doing the 185 for the fixed week beforehand :p. If I realllllllly wanted to, I could sign all of her stuff since I have access to all of her stuff but I'd never do that to her (I think). Probably best to not break her trust over 50 points, besides it'll just give me an excuse to whine and say we don't have enough and then instead of 50 direct I can add on another 200 resale down the road :earboy2:
