Hi,
Since I just posted to the thread about when you pack,I do have a question.

How many suitcases are you allowed? Where do you storage them?

There will be 8 of us, and then after the cruise we will be going to WDW for 10 days. So I know I"ll need winter like clothes for the trip at WDW.

When we travel for softball, we some times just pack in this wonderful foldable storage thing. Then I can fold it down and not have alot of luagge around..
Would something like this work for our suitcase on the cruise.

I guess I should mention we are planning on driving from Nebraska.
THanks
Linda

The question is==are you driving or flying? If you are driving you can take as many suitcases with you as you can. Store the suitcases under the beds. See if you can put suitcases inside each other. Also use one suitcase for diry clothes. (saves room.) If flying you can only have 2 pieces.
As far as packing..you be surprised on the stuff you didnt even wear...lol
Another space saver I have used is one of those over the door shoe holders...it holds maybe 10-15 pairs of shoes...on a cruise it holds all your tolietries. @soap, shampoo, sunscreen, etc etc works like a charm and no cluttered counter space.

We will be driving.
How much room is under the bed?? Our suitcases tent to be big.

There is some room under the bed but not too much height. Smaller suitcases, duffles, etc could fit under the bed. You may even have to lift the bed frame a bit to fit suitcases under bed, but it will not accommodate larger suitcases.

We also use the closet to store the larger suitcases and do try to nest them.

We have also found that packing in duffles saves a ton of space in the cabin. My teens have even packed their formal wear (long gowns) in duffles and they came out fine. Worst case scenario is if formal wear gets wrinkled (or other clothes) you can send them out the for pressing onboard...it costs half the price of having them cleaned/pressed. There will be a price chart in your closet.

Thanks for the suggestion on the duffles.. THat might be the way to go. I just hate to fill cramp with luggage every where.

Thanks again

Umm, according to the Passporter (page 54), Disney limits each guest to TWO suitcases and one carry on (carry on --22"x14").

In your cruise package, you'll find two luggage tags for each individual, I think that maybe Disney's first hint, that you should only bring two pieces of luggage per person.

Don't forget that you can leave the clothes that you won't need on the cruise in your car. We have left extra things in the car and have never had a problem with parking at the port.
I tend to wear some clothes twice on the cruise since you aren't in them for long periods of time. (1 casual skirt and 1 pair of capris with a couple of different tops can get me thru 4 dinners)
Also, shoes can take up a lot of room. I take a nice pair of black sandals to wear to dinner every night, water shoes or flip flops, and sandals for everyday use.
Our first couple of cruises we way over packed and have decided not to do that again.
We always hand carry our drinks onboard. We put them in a duffle bag and then we have empty bags to store our dirty clothes or souveniers in.
We keep our empty suitcases in the closet, we have found there is plenty of space on the floor or the shelf. BTW, there are 3 people in my family.

when we went on our cruise we saw a family of 3 take some 7-8 bags due to their little on had special diet needs. in the worst case you can call and ask DCL (800) 951-3532. i asked lots of questions on this board and then called DCL to make sure. and like jilljill said you can leave the WDW clothes in the cars. have a great cruise

DCL allows 2 bags per person, plus a carry on. That's WAY MORE than you really need. As for storage...if your suitcases don't fit under the bed, put the lifejackets under the bed and use that shelf for suitcases.

Since you are driving....I pack a "cruise only" suitcase since I will want fancier things on the ship than at WDW. You can easily do this in reverse...pack a Dis World suitcase or 2 (with 8 people, it could easily be 2) of things you don't need on the ship, then leave that locked in your vehicle.

Most of us pack way too much. I also have a folding suitcase that takes next to no room in the luggage. I take it along to use for dirty clothes. Makes it really easy when I get home because I just drop that one in the laundry room.

It's also easy to run a load or 6 of laundry at WDW. The hotels have more laundry facilities than the ship....
