Ok, so DF has a house in Texas (when we get married, I will move in with him), where he is currently working on a project for his job. He will be done with the job in May of 2008, but we are going to keep this house as a 2nd home/beach home, and rent it out when we are not using it. We have been wanting to paint it since he bought it last June, and he finally painted the accent wall a rust color. It looks so much better!

I just cannot get over what a difference the paint makes!!! Ok, so now we want to paint the other wall in the living room, and I am looking for opinions. I think a yellow would look really great (maybe a warmer yellow like a winter wheat or something). What do y'all think? It will have to go with the rust color that is on the accent wall, since the floor plan is open. TIA!:goodvibes

where jealous you have a beach home, so where not posting :lmao:

This is not yellow but I have used Benjamin Moore's Berkshire Beige for my interior. It is a warm beige that goes with a lot of colors. I think that it has a lot of undertones that make it work with a lot of colors.

I would go with a very light goldenrod color, sort of like the color on the background of the Mojito Club plate but several shades lighter. You want it to look neutral, you don't want to walk in and go "Whoa! That's a yellow room!" But not so pale as to be lemony, that would not look right. You have a lot of bold colors going on, which look great, but you don't want the wall color to take away from anything else in the room, especially with the red wall already in there.

I have to say, that is the skinniest door I have ever seen!! What could possibly be in there, and how on earth would you reach it?

I would go with Behrs "Toasted Wheat" it will look great with the other wall.

I think a deep yellow would look nice (like the other poster said, it can't be lemony).

Or something rich in the taupe/brown spectrum would work well with the rust wall and still be neutral enough to make furnishing/decorating simple.

A little color can sure make a lot of difference... those builder-white walls just look unfinished, don't they?

That is great that you suggested Benjamin Moore....that is what we used for the accent wall (Red Oxide). I think warm beige would look great! Thanks for the opinions!:goodvibes I appreciate it!

Thanks so much for your opinion! I agree totally with your thoughts. It can't be "om my gosh....that is YELLOW," but I do think a yellow-based color (even if it is more wheat) would blend in nicely.

You are correct, it IS a skinny door!:rotfl: I think the builder just put it in realizing that a lot of the owners would rent these homes out to vacationers. It is mainly for cleaning supplies, vacuum, etc. When we rent it out, we will put a lock on it, and it will be for the maids that clean in-between rentals for easy access, and it will always be stocked with cleaning supplies we want the house cleaned with, YKWIM?

We painted our entire house in various hues of Behr paint. DH thinks it is the best. Anyway, most of our walls are painted Clair de Lune, a very neutral color with yellow undertones. We painted the ceilings Calm Air which is the color on the card right above it (a tad lighter, makes the room appear bigger). I think you are in the right color group. Good luck deciding.;)

P.S. Love the pix, furniture and decorations are wonderful, makes me want to visit you at your lovely vacation home.:)

We are literally as we speak painting our living room, it's called Bee Pollen from earth elements at Lowes. It's a deep yellow, with a touch of brown to it. I love it!! I'll try to take a pic tomorrow when we are finished. It is similar to the Mojito Plate in your pics.

I would use a yellow with enough brown in it so it won't be too bright. Or go with a beige.

Our TV room has red/gold paint. The red wall is similar to your red (BM color that I can't remember right now) and the other walls are BM's Sandy Valley. It is a deep gold color. I LOVE the way it looks.

I love the colors you have used. I really love the mojito etc, plates!

I used a "family" of Behr colors when I had my house painted - if you click on this link and then on virtual tour, you can see some of the colors (my house is on the market)
http://www.circlepix.com/tour.htm?id=564868&refurl=

The colors were crocodile tears (green), terraza tan (accent wall), pony tail (light tan), Belgium Waffle - yellow - they still have the card at Lowe's - I needed another can of one of the colors and didn't have one number of the label and was able to find it from the chip.

Except for DDs room I used all of those colors throughout the house in various combinations.

I love the idea of a neutral color with golden yellow undertones. I also would consider the palest, palest olive undertones in a neutral almost-white shade.

That sounds awesome. I will have to tell DF to look into Behr.

Thanks for your sweet comments.:goodvibes
