We leave in just 9 short days!! Four of us are going, DS14, DD12 and DS9 and myself. We were planning on doing our trip on a little bit of a tighter budget as far as meals, etc., but my children's father has come thru with some extra spending money for the kids, so now we are thinking of adding one or two really nice or different eating experiences.

We will be there from Wednesday June 1 to Wednesday June 8. The first day we get to Florida, I have made ressies @ HOB and will be using a GC I purchased from Restaurant.com. Thurs will be our actual first day at the parks, and we have ressies at the Rose and Crown that evening. Friday night, my mom, 2 sisters and niece and nephew are flying in, and we have ressies at T-Rex.

Other than those plans, we had decided that we would just be doing counter service meals, ordering pizza, or doing sandwiches back at our room. We are staying at the Holiday Inn WDW Resort just down from DTD. None of my children have the slightest bit of interest in doing a character meal. We have a few Rainforest Cafes in the area where we live, so that wouldn't really be a new or different experience for them. :dance3:

What restaurant or two would you recommend that would impress my preteens and teen children? Any suggestions?

Thanks in Advance!!!

They may enjoy Sci Fi Dine In at Hollywood Studios or 50's Prime Time. My teen girls love both of these restaurant experiences! Also, Beaches n Cream is fun! Hope that helps!

For a single splurge I would suggest Boma or Ohana (if you can get ADRs; don't try that one as a walk-up in June......). Or if the kids really like crab legs, the dinner Cape May seafood buffet is the place to go.

Another alternative is the Biergarten in Germany at Epcot. It's another non-character buffet. Lunch is significantly cheaper than dinner and nearly all the food items are the same at both meals. If you make it a 1:30 or 2 pm ADR it will serve as dinner, too. Fun atmosphere, lots of good food choices, and at buffets the 9 year old gets the same buffet even though they only pay the kids meal price.

Tappan Edo perhaps? Though there is a local hibachi restaurant we don't get there very often so the one in Japan is a fun option for our family.

Boma is a good choice, too. Make sure to allow extra time to wander around AKL and see the animals.

I say Ohana its food that most ppl cant get back home like Chinese, Mexican, Japanesse... The atmosphere is soothing and fun! Otherwise I say San Angel Inn b/c of the atmosphere there is like being at a little Mexican village in the evening by the river..

My 15 year old son would recommend 'Ohana and either Biergarten or Whispering Canyon.

My kids' favorites are Biergarten, Coral Reef, Teppan Edo, Raglan Road, and Brown Derby. We tried Brown Derby on our last tirp, not having very high expectations for the kids, but it wound up being their favorite restaurant. They hated Ohana. It was too noisy, the food was mediocre, service was spotty, they thought the entertainment was dumb, and it cost more than our meal at Brown Derby. Not worth it at all.

Sci Fi is so much fun. I LOVE the theme. Their food is simple yet delish...the ribs are TO DIE FOR! :) Burgers & shakes are great too.

Teppan Edo is SO YUMMY and one of my fave places. I dont go to many hibachi places in town, that was my first. I thought the food & entertainment was excellent.

Biergarten is another great choice.

TRex in DTD is good too!
