Hi, Me again.
As it will be our (me, my wife and 2 girls 6 and 9) first visit to Florida (and the US in fact), the first time we visit MK we are planning to just go for a morning and not really worry about "rides" - just experience the "magic", explore, meet a few characters, etc. Anyway, I was thinking that it would be good to finish the morning with a lunch that the kids will enjoy - somewhere fun.

As we won't have a car that day, it should ideally be somewhere in / accessible to MK or in / near DTD near our resort (Regal Sun Resort).

Things I have thought of (based on research as never been):

Whispering Canyon Cafe - but I have read that lunch is not a "fun" as dinner?
Crystal Palace - but we are already planning a breakfast there later in the week, so is it worth going twice?
Cinderella's Royal Table - but this got an awful review by the DIS podcast which has put me off, given the price (and the fact you have to pay the full amount including gratuity) at time of booking!!)

So, what do you think? Any of the above, or have you got another inspired suggestion?

Thanks,
Matthew :)

Well I am not sure when you are going but if you are going in August or September WDW will be serving lunch at Chef Micky's at the Contemporary Hotel.

February - it will be the Thursday before Presidents weekend if that makes a difference

Well by that time the T-Rex restaurant will be open in downtown disney. Someone on here posted some pics from this same place that is already open in another state, and it seems to be so cool, if I find it I will post!

You might enjoy the Grand Floridian Tea, instead of a lunch. The girls would get a kick out of a grown-up tea :goodvibes

Do you already have Crystal Palace? We went for lunch a few days ago, and liked it better then there breakfast. It was a nice break from the park, the food was good, and the characters were great! If you already have Crystal Palace, then what about my second choice would be Chef Mickey's(if they have it at the time.)

If you are looking for a "fun" restaurant serving lunch right at MK, then Crystal Palace would be a good choice -- very pretty, Winnie the Pooh characters, buffet style so usually everyone can find something they enjoy. The lunch or dinner menu there is quite different than the breakfast menu.

CRT would be a real treat for your girls, and a picture package is included. Lunch there is less expensive than dinner. I've also heard the food isn't fabulous, but it's really all about the experience of eating in the castle. If you do character meals, make sure to have your camera ready, and that the girls have autograph books -- great picture opportunities :goodvibes

If you are looking for something fun for kids in DTD, then RF or TRex would be unique options. TRex, of course, is brand new; and my kids loved RF at DTD in Anaheim.
