suggested reading list

i like debbie macomber. she has a series called cedar grove. each book is an address. the first number in that address is the book number in the series.

I just finished a cute book called The Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearson. It's considered a young adult/teen book, but it was interesting because it's about WDW after-hours. There are middle school aged kids, Disney villans who come to life and backstage WDW stuff that makes it interesting. Definitely fantasy taking place in the real "World". It would make for a good book for your kids to read right before a trip to WDW.

We have this book on CD and listen to it in the car as we're driving to WDW! It really gets the anticipation going!

There is s second one out now, I believe it takes place in AK. It's surprisingly called Kingdom Keepers 2!

First rule about "suggested reading list" club is,,
"Don't talk about suggested reading list, club."

:lmao: :lmao:

get it ??? :lmao:

Currently reading "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown, and "Generation Kill" by Evan Wright.

Ditto!!! I love all of Debbie Macomber's books- I think I have almost all of them actually- well. everything that is available in print right now anyway... she seems to be repriniting alot of her older books as of late though...

Another of my favorite authors is Sherryl Woods- mostly very lighthearted and comforting- though some plots have their sad points- but always happy endings :-) The "Sweet Magnolias" series was great- set in Charleston SC...

One that I read- just cause there was a Basset on the cover- and was laughing outloud the entire book was "One of the Guys" by Kristin Higgens... definitly great for anyone who needs a laugh....

Enjoy!

I was just thinking the exact same thing!!

Oh hey Kelly......

FYI, I recently finished reading HOST by Stephanie Myer

I can't say that it was as good as Twilight, but it was pretty good. Different, interesting. Some of the characters were recognizable. The main female was excruitiatingly self-sacrificing and constantly getting hurt....like Bella; and the two main male characters definitely had Edward and Jacob characteristics.

I'd recommend it...but you don't need to be in a big hurry. In fact, getting away from Twilight for awhile may make the book better. Meija is reading it now. When she finishes it I can send it to you.

Between my new job and a second job teaching evenings at the local community college, I just never seem to get to the camping boards anymore.

I like mindless books. I love Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum series. I have everyone hooked on her. It's the kind of book you read and laugh out loud. :lmao:

I love her books.....they are definately laugh out loud.

"The Shack" was awesome too....very thought provoking. I read it twice to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Soni! I'm so proud of this thread! It's bringing people out of the woodwork!

How you been, girl?

oh, I just started Shack yesterday.

I am ok. I haven't been on much lately, my dad has been having alot of health problems so between running back and forth to his house and taking care of my own it hasn't left much time for anything else. He is doing better now so hopefully I'll have more time. I've missed the boards and everyone here!

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad! Glad that he's doing better, though! Hopefully you'll have time to check in more often now!

Last summer I started reading the Alphabet/ Kinsey Millhone series by Sue Grafton. Just finished reading T is for Trespass today during our Spring Break. Good detective mystery which can be carried in your purse and read while waiting for your kids, DH, appointments , etc.:goodvibes

I just finished a cute book called The Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearson.
This was a most awesome & imaginative book!!

Also - Ridley Pearson & Dave Barry co-authored "Peter & the Starcatchers" and "Peter & the Shadow Thieves". They are both young teen stories, but excellent never the less. The first one is about Peter Pan before he became Peter Pan. The second one is Peter coming back from Neverland to help Wendy and her father capture the Shadow Thief. Both stories are very entertaining.

ETA: "I am currently reading The Cat Who series by Lillian Jackson Braun. I really like this series. I love books with/about animals. Koko and Yum Yum are siamese kitties. They are good mystery books." I've read all of these. The poor dear (LJB) should have quit about 7 books ago. They have become dated prattling's by an old lady out of tune with the world. The last "fairly" good one was "The Cat Went Up the Creek.

My family have really enjoyed theses books. I don't believe I'll ever ride IASW without remembering The Kingdom Keepers.:scared1:

I am reading this series now. I had read a few of the books and liked them so much I decided to start from the beginning of the series. I just got done with The Cat Who Went Up the Creek now I am on The Cat Who Brought Down the House. I love Koko and Yum Yum. Maybe by the time I am done with all the books in this series so far her new one The Cat Who Smelled Smoke will be out.
Some are better than others but they are all pretty good.

"The Cat Who Had 60 Whiskers" was so bad, I couldn't finish it. I didn't know another one had come out. Her first "Cat Who" book came out in 1966. Koko & Yum-Yum have had quite long lives!!!:rotfl2: LJB has also written about 6 or 8 cat anthologies. I've not read any of those.

For the sake of entertainment, you should try to get the "Cat Who" series on audio book. George Guidall (the reader) does an excellent job! Dick Van Patten did a couple - but he wasn't near as good as Guidall. I can't imagine Qwilleran with a Jersey accent!!

I am planning on checking out the other "Cat Who" related books when I am done with this series.

It was that bad huh? Well I have a few more books before I get to that one.

I wish my kitties lived as long as Koko and Yum Yum have. :)

She has been writing these a long time. I was suprised how old the first books were when I got a list and started trying to get them.
