Sugar-Free Snow Cones - Yummy

I just had to share my latest discovery! You may have noticed that snow cone makers are all the rage this summer. Well, I bought one early in the summer but didn’t get around to trying it until this past weekend. I shaved the ice in the machine and topped it with sugar-free syrup (I used black cherry flavor) and it was delicious! The syrups come in all kinds of flavors and the brands I’ve seen are Atkins, DaVinci, Torani. What a fantastic treat that would fit into any weight loss plan.

What kind of sugar do they make the Torani syrups with?
I went to their website, but I didn't see an ingredient list.
Do they use Splenda or Nutrasweet or other?

My wonderful dh bought me a snow cone/shave ice maker this past weekend! I've been making mine with SF Raspberry syrup! Yummy!!

You can also freeze sugar free Koolaid in ice cube trays and fresh squeezed OJ and then use those in the ice shavers! Pretty darn good that way! (I've also used SF iced tea and SF tang too)

DaVinci, Torani and Atkins are all made with sucralose (pure Splenda, no fillers).

There are also other sugar-free "coffee" syrups on the market, but you have to watch, some are made with aspartame (Nutrasweet). OK if it doesn't bother you, but you can't cook with them.

Older Torani bottles may also include glycerin(e).

Yep, dizneegirl's right -- I checked the bottle last night and it's Splenda. BTW, I got the Torani at World Market and the DaVinci at Ross or Marshalls. And you can get Atkins and DaVinci on netrition. com

Zoe, I know, there are lots of great ideas! I froze decaf coffee w/Splenda to use to make granita. I added cream to mine since I'm on low carb (she's says as she munches on a whole wheat bagel )
