"SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP! It Builds Character and Strength!" A July 2011 TR-COMPLETE 4/5

Yum that looks delish!
I really like that tshirt too!:thumbsup2

Haha I always pick the exact same future in SE....despite telling myself I will pick differently every time. It gets to crunch time and I can’t lie. It’s like my brain forbids me to lie when I am on a Disney ride...Walt will know! haha
Love the sleeping faces! The future will be full of sleep...hooray

Ahhh I love the smell of the land too! I am sure it’s coming from living with the land as that ride smells amazing!:goodvibes
I haven’t really just stood there smelling the air for large chunks of time but next time I will make sure I do that...

Single-rider line is such a great way to go on rides without a long wait!

I love that t-shirt. I'm so sad it was too big for me when I tried it on.

Soarin is such a relaxing attraction, perfect way to end a perfect day!

I know! It is such a time-saver!

Thanks! I love it. (:

Agreed. :thumbsup2

Exciting that you got to see allie and ana that night! I can totally picture what you guys would be like together. Both of you have super fun personalities it seems like it goes hand in hand.

Yay for the germany carmel shop! I went to that place many times on my january trip! My personal favorite treats were the chocolat carmel cupcake and the strawberries but each the things you got looked great as well (especially the fudge *deer face*).

I love the illuminations show! Everything about it is soooo amazing! no epcot day is complete without it! I agree with allie about the we go on song! Such strong memories of hearing it. my favorite time being my one trip where i got to see the christmas illuminations! it all went perfectly together!

Love that you went right to soarin! That is one of my all time favorite rides in disney now!

Haha we have some fun times, me and Allie. :P Unfortunately, Ana lives in Boston so I only got to hang out with her in Disney, but hopefully she'll come visit or something!

They were! I could really go for one of those strawberries right about now though...MMMM. <3

I TOTALLY agree! It's beautiful! That is such a great song! :thumbsup2 Oh my gosh I want to see Christmas Illuminations! I bet it's awesome.

I never thought I would wait in the stand-by line for Soarin'! But it was actually not bad at all! The interactive games on the wall were going on so they kept us busy. (:

How could you and Allie forget to take a picture!? OH WELL!
:rotfl:

Haha I like the sleeping picture cause your head doesn't fit on the body

MMMM that chocolate made me hungry :P

I KNOW!? We're frumps, what can I say?

HAHAHA I know. FAIL. Oh well, it's the concept that counts. That ride makes me verryyy sleeepyyy.

YUM. I'm hungry too. SURPRISEEE.

Mmmm, caramel. Sounds really good right now.

I thought that sniffing around the Land was normal?! I never got that memo....

Don't worry about just figuring out that the four seasons are represented. I had a DUH moment when I looked at the tables and said "ooooohhhhhhh". And I eat there almost EVERY TRIP.

Yeah, don't I know it!

Oh, well then maybe it is? I always get weird looks...but it's probably just the newbies. :sad2:

Yum that looks delish!

It was! And thanks!!

I know! Same with me! That's why I let Mike pick it that time. Yeah I could go for some sleep right about now...:cloud9:

YAY! I'm so glad people know what I'm talking about! It probably is.

You really should. It's therapeutic.

Chapter 20- Rainforests, Running, and Something Else That May or May Not Start With "R"

July 27th, 2011

Jambo everybody! As you can tell by the obnoxious new ticker in my signature, we officially have a trip booked!! We're going for 13 nights in August 2012 at Kidani Village!!! I am SOOOO excited I can't wait! WHEN will next summer be here!?!?!?!? We might do a split stay between Kidani and the Boardwalk, but we're not sure yet. I'll keep you all updated though!

So, as you can see, I couldn't think of a third thing for this morning that started with "R." So, you'll just have to use your imaaaginaattiooonn. :figment:

This morning our wake-up call came at 7, but we sorta slept a little past it...wait...did I say we?? I meant THEY slept past it. I probably shot up like a caffeinated squirrel.

We got ready and ran to the bus stop, where we waited about 5 or 10 minutes for a bus to show up. It took us to our destination at promptly 8:45. This was a bit annoying because we had a breakfast ADR for 8:30. WHY oh why couldn't those boys get out of bed?? Shame, shame. DON'T THEY KNOW THAT THERE IS NOOOO SLEEPING IN DISNEY??? Apparently not. They were slightly grouchy and morning-y. WELL SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP!

Here's Mike on board the motor coach, being encouraged to use the handrails above and to the sides, since he is standing:

dsc02061s.jpg

Wait a minute? I didn't tell you where we were going!

dsc02062f.jpg

There we go! We were headed to Animal Kingdom! You could probably tell by the way I said "Jambo" before, but for those of you who didn't pick up on that, we're going to Animal Kingdom.

Got it?

Good.

See the Lodge in the background there? Ahhh how I missed that place. So heavenly. :cloud9:

Once we got to Animal Kingdom we booked it through the bag check and veered to our left to get to...

dsc02064y.jpg

Rainforest Cafe! Ya'al probably thought we were goin' to Tusker House didn't ya? WELL WHY DON'T YOU READ THE TITLE NEXT TIME!?

Hehe I'm kidding. Do what ya want. :P

We walked in and checked in, and I only had time to say hello to my favorite elephant...

dsc02065bz.jpg

And that giant pole of fruit...

dsc02066d.jpg

Before they seated us!

Here is our table location:

dsc02067rh.jpg

dsc02071n.jpg

We were by the elephants and near the front of the restaurant, so we could see the aquariums too. I had sat at that very same table the summer before with my Mom, Stepdad and little sister. What a coincidence. (This is not irony for those of you who, unlike me, do not have the difference drilled into your head by your neurotic English teacher. Hehehe.)

Now, lemme tell ya, we SOOO did NOT need an ADR for this breakfast. The place was dead. Mainly because it was early and the AK location had only been serving breakfast for a month or two. Still, I thought we'd check it out!

Our server's name was Amanda, and she came over to take our drink orders.

I got the Key Wester:

dsc02074d.jpg

It's like strawberries, bananas and something else. So yummy and actually went really well with my entree!

Mike got the Raspberry Lemonade Freeze:

dsc02072h.jpg

This was tart and super refreshing!

Dave got orange juice I think, but I don't have a pic.

Amanda took our entree orders down, and left us to sip our smoothies and contemplate the plan for the day. I also noticed that I really love the music in there! I wish I could find it!

Pretty soon our food came out!

I got Cha Cha's Wild Waffle, which is a Belgian waffle with fresh strawberries and bananas, (just like my drink!) REAL maple syrup, and sausage.

dsc02078ty.jpg

This was super delicious! I loved that Cha Cha's face was on it too! The waffle was warm and basically melted in my mouth, and the fact that there was REAL maple syrup absolutely made the meal. Love that stuff. Love it, love it. <3

Mike got Ozzie's Omelette, with sausage and cheese inside. It came with toast and potatoes.

dsc02077pb.jpg

Dave got the Benedict Bamba, which is traditional eggs benedict with toast and LOTS of fresh fruit.

dsc02079ih.jpg

Another thing we were all impressed by was the quality of the fruit. Seriously, it was all perfect! And when Dave ordered his meal, he had banked on it coming with a little cup of "mostly honeydew" on the side. But just look at his plate! It's laden with awesomely scrumptious fruit! We were so excited.

So after we finished and paid for our wonderful breakfast, we headed out and entered the park!

dsc02083ad.jpg

dsc02084r.jpg

Our first stop was here:

dsc02085e.jpg

Because of course I had to do some shopping at one of my favorite stores!!

I ended up buying a travel mug that I had had my eye on since the Frump trip in January, as well as a Mickey head decal for my mom for her car.

dsc02088oz.jpg

I love all the 40th Anniversary merchandise!

dsc02089p.jpg

We also went into Disney Outfitters, where Mike discovered that he really needed a belt. Like REALLY needed one. He, being a rather skinny boy, was having trouble keepin' his trunks up. Having forgotten to PACK a belt, he asked a CM at Disney Outfitters if he new where to find a belt. The CM told him that basically only one store could be guaranteed to have belts, and that was Curl at Downtown Disney. Oh, awesome. So we decided to do a couple more things and then make a detour trip to DTD to go on a wild belt chase.

Those couple things consisted of browsing around Beastly Bazaar and grabbing some FP's for Expedition Everest for later.

So we exited the park and waited about 15 minutes for a bus to DTD.

Our bus stopped at Typhoon Lagoon first, but the longish bus ride was made completely entertaining by one of the best bus drivers EVER! His name was Oscar and he kept making all these wisecracks and playing recordings like "As this is a family environment, we ask that you please refrain from inappropriate language while on board the motor coach. Thank you." They were all so funny, and even better, they were seriously real and legitimate recordings! I was cracking up the whole time.

We got to Downtown Disney at about 11:30 and got off at the first stop, the Marketplace, deciding to take the scenic route to Curl, as it wasn't excruciatingly hot out that day.

Ahhh I can see you are feeling very frumpy tonight, young grasshopper. :hippie:
That Rainforest Cafe breakfast looks FANTASTIC. Major thumbs up for the fruit :thumbsup2 You never know what restaurant is going to have fresh fruit nowadays.
I really want that Belgian Waffle. That just sounds fantastic right now.
Hahaha I think I remember you texting me about Mike needing a belt. Geez, he should have just bought a new pair of shorts so you didn't have to waste all of that time!
Mmm still can't get over that food. I'm hungry.

And YAY for the ticker! I spotted it. And i texted you already. But HOORAY! Hahaha your'e still staying longer than my Christmas trip... you beat me by a night :rotfl: Your family likes to do disney right!

P.S. Very nice combo of Lion King and Mike Waszowski. Very interesting.

Yay on booking your first trip as DVC members! That's so exciting. I love AKL! But I've never stayed in Kidani, only Jambo house.

I read, so I knew you were going to Rainforest. :P

I love Rainforest breakfast! Did they stop serving breakfast there for a long time? I remember eating breakfast there about 10 years ago. :confused3

Oh, skinny boys and their needing belts. I wish I had that problem. :lmao:

soooooo exciting that u have another trip comming up! AKL looks gorgeous!!!!! i'm very jealous!

I can totally picture you just being so annoyed that the guys slept in, especially since we have seen how much you adhere to the no sleeping in disney rule in jess's video.

i didn't know rainforest cafe had breakfest. i think that is just a disney thing because the one that is right by my house doesn't have breakfest yet :(

your waffle looks great! i bet both the fresh fruit and the smoothie complemented it well! speaking of the fruit that is cool that they have the fresh fruit!

Yayyyy for a new obnoxious ticker! I love it! Sooo excitingggg!!!:woohoo:

Oh how I love a good fruit pole! Every pole should be wrapped up in fruit, it makes it looks so much more colourful... and tasty.

I like the travel mug a lot! The 40th anniversary stuff id much nicer than I thought it was going to be :thumbsup2

Of course they don't sell belts in WDW...because most of us just eat non-stop from the moment we arrive, eating courses and courses of delicious Disney food so all our clothes get a little (or a lot) tighter...?:lmao:
Well that's my theory at least....

/
Oh my gosh that food looks scrumptious. I'm hungry just looking at it. Disney food <33 and guess what, we're going to disney :)

:wave2: Hi! I'm joining in WAYYY late, but I love it so far!!! I'm right with you- I am DISNEY OBSESSED!!!! Can't wait t read more!!

Why thank you young kimosabe.

It sounded really good when I did the update too. That's why I made it sound all heavenly.

I know! That's what I said! Boys are not very bright.

COOKIES.

Sarah picked it out. SURPRISE!

Hahaha I live by that rule! If you sleep in Disney... that's not gonna work for me! :rotfl:

Aww it doesn't? Yeah they just started doing that at the disney one! It was great!

All of the fruit was fantastic! It was nice and fresh and very delicious!

Thanks! They make wonderful 40th merchandise! I love it all!

Hahaha don't you love when that happens? :lmao: Those boys... they cause so much trouble.

Yes! That was great!

Chapter 21- Our DTDetour

July 27th, 2011

Hey everyone! Now that Allie has done her Typhoon Lagoon update, I am ready to give you her story of "Suck it Up Buttercup!"

"Your Lime Green Chariot Awaits!" ~ a WDW Family Vacation
Tuesday July 26th, 2011 ~ Chapter 12 ~ "SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP, IT BUILDS CHARACTER AND STRENGTH!!!"

Then we decided to hit the storm slides and such. And we were in line for Humunga Kowabunga (I believe...if it needs a raft- yes!) and there's a mom and a little boy a few people in front of us. The boy tells his mother that he does not want to carry his tube. And what does the mother say in response? -drum roll, please-

....

...

"Suck it up, Buttercup! It builds character and strength!"

...

....

:lmao: Ana and I thought that that saying was beyond fantastic. I texted Kristen to tell her about this awesome phrase. She ended up adopting it for her trip, since her dad and brother were in need of being told to suck it up! Anyways, the phrase has moderately become a phenomenon between me and Kristen...we say it...a lot. So, thank you random lady! Most appreciated! :thumbsup2

Not too crazy of a story, but hilarious nonetheless! Also, like Allie pointed out, this was the PERFECT title for my Trip Report because I spent the better part of the trip telling Mike and Dave to just Suck it Up and go with the plans I had so meticulously made. They were just a little miffed that I didn't factor sleep in there. PSSH, whatever.

Anywhoo, now that we're all back on track and explainified (made that word up!) we can continue on to the next update!

Once we got to the Marketplace, we took our time getting to Curl.

dsc02094ed.jpg

Hey! We were just there!

A CM standing by Goofy's Candy Co. gave me this:

dsc02095e.jpg

A Mickey sticker! YAY! I put it on my trip journal. It matches my nails. Hehe.

Winnie the Pooh was Mike's and my favorite when we were little, so this photo op was a must:

dsc02096g.jpg

Awww. Aren't we so precious?

We stopped in Once Upon a Toy and looked around, and Mike considered making his own light saber, but then decided not to.

dsc02097i.jpg

We continued along and soon enough we were approaching the West Side.

dsc02099j.jpg

dsc02098b.jpg

Ahh beautiful SSR. I really want to stay there someday!

dsc02103a.jpg

dsc02104e.jpg

Pretty soon we were at Curl! This store is AWESOME. There is so much cute stuff that I am still amazed that I left without buying anything. I had to save my money for the Disney merch after all.

dsc02105um.jpg

Mike picked out his belt after much deliberation between the multitudes of styles. He paid for it and that was that!

We headed back out and I noticed that it was getting a tad cloudier out.

dsc02109bd.jpg

dsc02110rf.jpg

We passed by T-Rex Cafe and I thought of Kara (MarieTheCat) when I heard a CM there saying "(last name) party of 4 your prehistoric adventure is about to begin!

She mentioned that in her TR and how funny it was that they say that cheesy line over and over again. So funny.

We headed back to the Marketplace and I snapped pics of a couple of the Lego statues in broad daylight!

dsc02113ey.jpg

DEER!!!

dsc02115h.jpg

I love that one. Toy Story is like my childhood. So cute.

As we made our way over, we noticed that there was this Celtic-jazz type band playing at the Grandstand in the Marketplace. They were really good! We stopped to listen for a few minutes.

dsc02120i.jpg

dsc02118np.jpg

See that guy? I swear he's smiling because he saw me take a picture and thought it was of him. You'd think he'd be creeped out by that? :confused3

I was feeling pretty thirsty, so we stopped at the Forty Thirst Street across from here:

dsc02122q.jpg

And got some of this:

dsc02123n.jpg

Mmmm. Ya'al know how I love sharing water pictures with ya! LOL.

We caught a bus back to POFQ and freshened up for a few minutes and I said hello to Stace, of course! Then we headed down to the bus stop once again and caught a bus back to Animal Kingdom about 5 minutes later!

dsc02128n.jpg

dsc02129r.jpg

I love that new sign! Adorable!

dsc02130ef.jpg

Where will we go? What will we do? Stay tuned to find out!

Love the whole "suck it up buttercup", so cute! I may have to use that on my guys this June. Friday, when DS21 caught me watching a Samantha Brown Disney show for the umpteenth time we had a little discussion on the June plans. He asked me if I had scheduled time to breathe, LOL. I don't think the non-planners really appeciate us.

Yay you updated!
Aww that pictures with you and mike and the winnie the pooh characters is really precious!
LOL that guy looks like he's posing in front of "once upon a toy" for you :rotfl:
I really gotta see those toy story sculptures in person!
Forty Thirst Street HAHAHAHA :rotfl2: I would find that funny.
LOL Roundtrip back to Animal Kingdom!
Can't wait to see what you did next!

Haha you definitely should! It's funny but firm. :P

They definitely do not appreciate the lengths we go to to maximize the Disney time. Ah well. That's why we have our fellow DISers. :goodvibes

sorry, back to the update...

I love those mickey stickers! I think they are adorable and remind me of the parades they had when i was little where they brought kids watching the parade into the fun and we all got to dance w/ the characters :) I had one on the back of my old phone for a long time untill that phone broke :(
