Stupid Rules

Does anyone else work have rules so ridiculas they are funny where do they think them up. I work in a rather cheap department store which i have since last july. Yesterday my supervisor informed me that my blouse wasn't suitable for work as it didn't have a collar its just a black blouse with a stand up collar which i was told to get black blouse black trousers and black shoes. I wouldn't mind but i have been wearing these blouses since i started and only now do we have to have proper collars on them. The fact that half the younger staff have face piercings or tatoos for all to see and they get away with it. We have so many imortant issues like people going home because they have had arguments with boyfriends or taking 2 weeks off for a cold or it is too hot in the shop i feel ill and need to go home to deal with but they seem to go unlooked. I was slowly seething today but i have said i am not going to buy any more when mine are perfectly desent. If i have to i will phone in sick and get it in their time not mine.

At DH's place if you are caught driving into a parking space (as opposed to reversing) it is a disciplinary matter. Even if you are the only person in the car park you can't drive through a space to park in the one in front.

I totally agree with both of these statements & I thought the place I worked was bad.

Ward Manager/hospital does not like :-

- Bright colours including red (I have black hair, so can only have red)
- Have to wear black or brown hair clips. No golds or silver ones
- No coloured socks. Black or blue socks. No characters or anything

I cant think of anymore, but there were a few others.

When my daughter worked in a reasonably posh clothes shop she was told she could wear anything as long as it was black. They then said she had to wear the uniform because her clothes were attracting to much attention

I have spoken to the personel manager and she said she have never noticed because i always look smart!!!!! i asked my manager if he had a problem with it and he said he had never noticed it and hadn't got a problem. I will have to wait to see what the big boss man says

I work for a place like that, but hopefully not for much longer, got an interview next Friday (9th) and the perks with this one are great, SEVEN free flights a year. With being members of DVC and free flights it's not going to cost hardly anything to go on holiday.
