So, we've used DME before. But this time, our flight lands at 12:20 pm, right at lunch. When we get off the plane, is it ok if we stop & eat a quick bite first in MCO before heading down to DME? I have a 3 year old DS who will be hungry. I figured this wouldn't be a big deal, since the buses run all day. But, when talking to someone @ Disney about something else on my reservation and I mentioned this, she told me I needed to not eat in the airport and take the food on the bus because DME would be looking for us. Why? My DS would not do well with eating on the bus. If we stop & eat real quick, they should still let us on right? I just thought it was weird that she told me this & wanted to double-check that I'll be okay doing this my way. Thanks! :goodvibes

Yes, you can eat at the airport. [Maybe the CM misunderstood you. They don't want you eating on the buses (although that's frequently ignored).] Take as much time as you need to eat, use the restroom, whatever. Then head down to ME to check in and board your bus.

Have a great trip.

They probably have your name but they don't put arrival times b/c so many flights get changed. So any time you show up you'll get on the bus. It works the same way when going back to MCO. We waited for 45 minutes for a bus to take us back to Key West and missed our ME bus. Saw it at the stop, but by the time we rode the bus all over the place at OKW, it was gone. We allowed an hour travel time but turns out that wasn't enough. :confused3 No problems, we were able to just get on the next bus. It was a little tight making our flight after terrible security lines, but we made it. ME is fabulous! Enjoy your lunch!:thumbsup2 And your trip!

You can definately take your time before heading to DME- sometimes the reservation CM's don't understand the DME process.

I have stopped for lunch, waited for friends arriving a few hours after us and DH has even taken DME the day after us without issues.

We have also had a flight cancelled and arrived at MCO 5 hours after our scheduled arrival - no problem.

On the other hand if your son will eat early maybe you can pack a lunch to enjoy in flight. This will give him something to extra to pass the time and you can get to the resort quicker. Just a thought...

Thanks everyone for the reassurance. I figured it would be fine, but that lady @ Disney made me worry about it!

Actually DME does not work this way on the return trip to the airport -you got very luckY!!

Sometimes their will be another DME bus along in an hour but other times there may not be another bus for several hours. Unlike on the inbound, outbound back to MCO you do have a reservation. If there are no passengers scheduled to depart from the resort a DME bus won't be sent to that resort. In short, many times if you miss your assigned DME bus you will be responsible for finding other transportation at your cost.

For the return trip you will get a confirmation slipped under your door the day before you leave. This will have your DME bus pick up time - and it is the only bus you have a reservation for. The instructions say to be at the stop ready to board at least 15 minutes prior to the departure time. This means you should have already checked in via RAC or retreived your bags from bell services if necessary.

I'm glad you highlighted this because you are absolutely correct. Also, sometimes the ME bus that might be doing a pick up at your resort is already completely full and won't have room to add passengers who missed their scheduled ME departure bus.
