Ok, I have flown a bunch, but for some reason I am having brain freeze.

Are you only allowed 3 - 3.4 oz items in your 1 qt.bag? Or is it as many 3.4 oz items as will fit in your 1 qt. bag? and does regular solid deodorant count?

My brain just will not work! Help! :goodvibes

It's what u can fit in your 1 qt bag and still get it closed. no solid d doesn't count

and I think it's 3oz...not 3.4oz....might want to check your airline's website to double check!

I got that from JetBlue's site, but I will go to the "official" govt. site and double check. Thanks all! Can't believe my brain wouldn't work on that!

Its a TSA requirement not an airline requirement and its as much as can "comfortably fit" into a 1 quart size ziplock.

Here is the quote right from the TSA website:

"3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3.4 ounce (100ml) bottle or less (by volume) ; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3.4 ounce (100ml) container size is a security measure."

I highly recommend checking the latest info and restrictions before any flight at the TSA website here:

http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm

Hope this helps!

It's definitely 3.4.

And you can keep the solid deodorant out of the baggie. If it's the weird squeezes-out-of-holes liquid gel deodorant then no, but solid is fine.

It's 3.4oz simply because it matched the metric 100ml.
You can have as many containers as you want in the baggie...they just have to fit comfortably. So, I wouldn't overstuff it...the baggie does have to zip closed.

The way to figure out if it had to be in the baggie is to decide if the material will keep it's shape if removed from the container. Solid deoderant will hold it's shape, gel deod won't..so has to be 3.4 or less. Toothpaste won't hold it's shape, neither will peanut butter and so on and so on.

neither will peanut butter
I was gonna be a wise-guy and say "PB comes in 3.4 oz packages?", but then I remembered it does come in little to-go cups :goodvibes

3.4 oz, and as many as will fit.

I keep in mine: liquid base makeup, mascara, travel size toothpaste, antibiotic ointment, eyedrops, hand lotion, small perfume, another small topical medicine, tiger balm ointment, small sunscreen....
and there is room for more, if needed.

Or, some of the 'natural' peanut butters come in a little pouch. I carry those sometimes, too. Or if I'm going to a race (running or triathlon), I carry my gels in the 3-1-1 bag if I need to carry them on.

If you ever do run out of room, the antibiotic ointment and eye drops can be exempted from the rule (medical exemptions).

Additionally, we are continuing to permit prescription liquid medications and other liquids needed by persons with disabilities and medical conditions. This includes:

All prescription and over-the-counter medications (liquids, gels, and aerosols) including petroleum jelly, eye drops, and saline solution for medical purposes;
