Stuffing Our Faces On Land and Sea - A Wedding & Honeymoon at WDW/DCL

Oh my goodness, your wedding and reception looks stunning! That mac and cheese... those cronuts... :worship:

Congratulations on what looks like an absolutely beautiful day!

Thank you so much!! It really was amazing :)

Fabulous! What a beautiful setting and everything looks wonderful!

It was! I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

What an amazing end to your wedding day. You had me at nachos and sundaes, but dear lord Cronuts too. And a pyramid of them. Think they would have had to roll me out of there.

You only get one wedding! Why not go all out! ;)

Your wedding and all the food look fabulous - thank you so much for posting.

However I've got to ask what exactly is a cronut? I've never heard of them before but try certainly look yummy- we are coming to wdw and will look out for them . ;)

A Cronut is a cross between a donut and a croissant - the inside is all flaky like a croissant but the outside (at least in Disney's version) is fried and covered in cinnamon sugar like a donut. A bakery in NYC invented them and they've somewhat taken over the world since then; Dunkin Donuts even has their own now (though I prefer Disney's version!) You can get full-sized cronuts at the Refreshment Port in Epcot by Canada (I believe they also serve them with ice cream on top).

I love the afternoon brunch wedding and dessert party idea!! Your wedding looks amazing. My daughter would love to get married at WDW.

Did you have to pay for all the guest to have access to the park for the dessert party or did they get park admission as part of your wedding package?

You should definitely encourage your daughter to have a Disney wedding, but then again, I'll be encouraging everyone I know to have one from now till the end of time ;) We adored the morning wedding because my DH and I got to spend the entire day together (instead of not seeing each other till 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon) and having the dessert party that night made it really an all day event.

No one was charged any admission for our ceremony in Italy (since it was before World Showcase opened) but we did pay a nominal fee for all guests who did not have a park ticket/annual pass for the dessert party at night. It was incredibly worth it though, especially because a large chunk of our guests did not purchase park tickets at all for the weekend, so this way they still got to experience a little bit of Disney magic.

Just found and read your report. I cannot wait to read the rest of it!!!

Everything so far sounds and looks amazing--you, the hubby, the food, everything!!!

Waiting patiently.....

Thank you so much, both for reading and for reminding me to update!!:lmao:

The morning after the wedding we were pretty dead to the world and exhausted - well I was anyway (nasty cold!!) Kevin offered to get dressed and go grab something from the Marketplace, but I put my foot down and said we should get room service; it was day one of our honeymoon, and if you're not going to get room service on your honeymoon then WHEN are you going to get it?!

We ordered 2 Mickey Waffle plates, and juice for me and a milk for Kevin. It took maybe 30 minutes, but probably less before we heard a knock on our door and our food was delivered. The CM arranged everything for us on the coffee table of our villa, and then one by one place all 24 Vinylmations that Kevin had just bought surrounding the table in funny poses - we were so confused but it was so funny once we realized what he was doing. Kevin was less than amused about people touching his vinyls  so as soon as the CM left he put all of them back before we ate breakfast in bed.

Sadly we were back to super thin limp bacon, but otherwise you really can't go wrong with Mickey waffles. It was a nice way to honor the wedding meal from the day before!

What was not nice was the price - it was $45 for the meal :scared1: Now that I've finally found our receipts, I can tell you that's almost as much as our Crystal Palace brunch cost with the TIW discount. Nuts!! Still, if you don't do it on your honeymoon, when do you do it, and I wouldn't have spent that morning any other way.

After an afternoon of enjoying Stormalong Bay and napping (a post-wedding essential) we got dressed up in our costumes and headed to Magic Kingdom for a couple of FP+ reservations and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party - but not before dinner at Be Our Guest!

When I had originally planned BOG for this day I had been hoping to make it for 4 people, as we gifted my best friend MNSSHP tickets for her birthday and I didn't want to abandon her for a few hours for dinner. However, a table for 2 was all that was open 180 days out, and I wasn't about to turn up a BOG reservation on the day I had planned. As it turns out, she was super late getting to MK and didn't even arrive till we were almost done with our meal, so let's chalk that up to everything works out in the end!

We got our little Lumiere and were led to the Rose Gallery, which really was a blessing in disguise as it was so quiet and peaceful and I had completely lost my voice from being sick at that point.

Now, being that we were at Be Our Guest, of course we had to order alcohol! Kevin had the Chimay Red, and I had the Michel Redde Sancerre because white wine and it was the pairing for my food dish.

For our meals, I of course went with the Sauteed Shrimp and Scallop deliciousness that I had picked out months before. Kevin considered getting the steak but since we were going to be at Yachtsman later that week decided to go with the (now gone from the menu?) Chicken Breast Provencal.

Now, in terms of my dish I really feel like a repeat visit is necessary. I honestly don't remember it having much taste but I attribute that to being sick. At least for me in the early days of a cold my taste buds go all wacky, so I would definitely like to attempt a healthy visit to Be Our Guest to give the shrimp & scallops another try. It was definitely a huge portion for the price and worth the money in size though, for sure.

Kevin was not a fan of his dish, as he won't eat skin on his chicken but when he pulled off the skin all the seasoning came with it. He said it left the chicken rather bland, but the potatoes and accompaniments were good. Needless to say, he was pleased when I told him the chicken as he ordered it is now off the menu :)

We passed on the cupcakes as I knew they were cheaper during lunch for the exact same dessert, but we still got a celebratory Grey Stuff for our Just Married pins!

It didn't actually taste super chocolate-y too me, so I enjoyed it! Kevin didn't want to tempt fate with his chocolate allergy so it was all for me. We paid up and took some exploratory pictures of the restaurant before heading out to enjoy the party.

We were Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible - we'll bring these back as more accurate costumes in the future!

I also used the party to sample my favorite Halloween party dessert - the pumpkin waffle sundae! I don't have a photo because I shared it with my best friend and she had mostly demolished it by the time I got to it. So let's share in the glory of a picture from Google shall we?

Mmmmm. Yummy. I could go for one of those right about now!

Loving your DR! Everything looks so amazing! I miss Disney food. Dang being stuck eating normal, real-world food.

looks like a great trip! I'll be following along :)

Thank you!! It really was the trip of a lifetime - now I'm so spoiled, I don't know when we'll get another long trip like it!

wonderful review - following along and congrats!

Thank you so much! Glad to have you following!

Isn't it the pits? The pixie dust makes Disney food so much more magical :goodvibes

This is great! Congratulations. Everything looks beautiful. (And enjoying the dining review too)

I can't believe breakfast cost $45!!!! That is crazy, but I guess worth getting to stay in the room.

Sorry your BoG meal wasn't all that. We did dinner there once when I had a cold too. Between the loss of taste buds, stuffed up nose, and the low lights I called it a sensory deprivation chamber ; ) Think its probably worth another visit, if nothing else for the alcohol in MK.

Thank you so much! There's more food a-coming ;)

I should have mentioned the $45 included 18% gratuity, but it was still a pretty expensive meal. At least with a buffet like CP we ate so much we didn't really need lunch, which makes the meal even more worth it. I still stand by the fact that the day after your wedding when you feel like you're on death's door it's perfectly reasonable to have some $45 Mickey waffles, but I don't think we'll be doing this ever again ;)

The Rose Gallery was pretty well lit too, at least compared to the West Wing! I definitely want to try dinner again as well as lunch, but it might be awhile before we make it back there if only because there's so many places we want to try that we haven't been to yet.

Tuesday October 14th

Tuesday was my best friend/maid of honor's birthday! (aka my MOH) We had a big day planned for her - Animal Kingdom rope drop (as she had never been to AK and loves animals), a surprise-to-her lunch at Sci-Fi Dine in, and concluding the day at Epcot or Magic Kingdom depending on her preference. Kevin and I started the day off with the breakfast of champions: leftover cronuts and bananas!

Fun fact: cronuts are just a messy and just as delicious 2 days later.

We got to Animal Kingdom right around rope drop to make full use of our one park day, but MOH and her boyfriend were running late and once they arrived at AK, demanded some kind of fuel for powering through the park. Thanks to the Internet, I found that Pizzafari did a CS breakfast (which was news to me :confused3) so they each ordered a Bounty Platter.

Also an orange juice, depicted here on it's side in defeat

I'm told the bacon was lame and they both found the sausage questionable, but that the eggs and french toast sticks were decent. I sampled the potato casserole when it turned out to be too much food for my MOH and I found it to be surprisingly not awful, for potatoes that come in a fixed shape (though I'm fairly unpicky about my potatoes!)

Once breakfast was downed we powered through a highlight reel of Animal Kingdom, hitting the safari, Everest twice, and Dinosaur before MOH made the call to hop over to Hollywood Studios. As it had been some time since our in-room breakfast, I decided we couldn't leave until I had sampled something from the top of my must-try snack list....

The fabled Jalapeno Cheese Pretzel!!

I'm pretty sure this has appeared in other parks - or is it still an AK exclusive? Anywhoo, we had to go all over creation to find this dang pretzel, thanks to the AK construction. We finally found them at a little kiosk near the path to Asia.

And was it worth it? For me, a resounding YES!! It was warm and delicious, definitely not as spicy as I thought it would be for having Jalapeno in the name, but enough spice so that it wasn't boring and bland. I consider this a must-do snack for sure - 8.5/10 (I just remembered I was doing ratings on these!)

Over at Hollywood Studios I had made us a 3:10pm reservation at Sci-Fi, as I knew the atmosphere couldn't be beat and you can't go wrong with a fantastic burger. For the record, MOH was definitely impressed!

Because I think I said "They have great burgers here" about 8 times, everyone in our group was boring and we ordered 4 build-your-own burgers - I did spice up mine by adding mushrooms. I had initially planned on getting a milkshake as well, but the Chest Cold from Hades killed that plan for me.

Would you believe that's all we got for fries? As someone who practically worships the potato, I was a teensy bit miffed. Otherwise though, the burger was predictably fantastic and the fries good. 8/10, because we all know when you go to Sci-Fi you're paying for the atmosphere but the burger was still great - I just dock it points for a lack of french fries.

The great thing about a late lunch is it also served as our dinner - we didn't eat anything for the rest of the evening! Since we had spent the previous night at MK, after hitting the headliners at Hollywood Studios we hopped over to close the night out at Epcot. We only had about an hour and a half in the park before it closed and being that we had all seen Illuminations on the wedding day we steered clear of World Showcase and just stuck to Future World attractions.

I can tell you with confidence though that we did make a pit stop at the Canada popcorn & beer cart :thumbsup2 I miss you St. Ambroise Apricot Wheat!

Your cronut breakfast looks much than the pizzafari one. Of course I'd eat a cronut no matter how old ; )

Haven't tried the jalapeño pretzel, but believe the lunching pad at MK has it. Or at least they have the regular cream cheese one, which we love.

Can't believe that is all the fries you got at SciFi, but the burger looks great

Sounds like your MoH had a great birthday

I still have never had a cronut. One of these days I will.

I know the pretzel is also available in WS at Epcot because my uncle got one.

We did sci-fi in July and also got all burgers I did get a milkshake the Oreo one to be exact and it was great.

I know Lunching Pad has the cream cheese one but not the cheese (parking strollers next to the place for 7 months will lead to memorizing the menu!) I feel like it's also available at a cart in Studios somewhere.....maybe in Streets of America?

Such a fry-tastrophy! All in all though, it was a pretty great day and the meal did TASTE fantastic (and like I said, you can't beat that atmosphere).

Ugh, I wanted a milkshake so bad!! We're hoping to visit 50s Prime Time in the near future so I'll have to try one of their milkshakes instead.

You'll have to get yourself a cronut, they're delicious!

I'm in!

Where can u get a cronut in wdw ? I need to try one lol

You can find cronuts in Epcot at the Refreshment Port (one of the little buildings next to Canada on the side closest to World Showcase, by the bathrooms in the area - NOT on the UK side!)
