Anybody else get stuck on the monorail (resort loop) on Saturday afternoon 3/20? It took us 37 minutes to get from GF to the TTC.

We lost all power at the MK stop for about 10 minutes and were stuck inside the "car". You would think that a CM would come by each car and explain what was happening - but none were to be seen - my 8 year old began to panic...

We were heading back to the POLY, but got off at the TTC and walked to our car. (We had a 6PM flight out of Tampa to catch) That goodness my daughter insisted we get off and walk when we had the chance.

It looked like it broke down again right after we got off at the TTC as the pink monorail was "stuck" at the Poly.

...same thing happened at the EPCOT stop on Friday evening - pulled into the station, took about 4 minutes before the doors opened.

not those dates but back in november we were heading to MK and it stopped on the lines to wait for another monorail that had broken down to get of the tracks.. It felt like forever and it was torture. It was my first trip to WDW and i could see MK but couldn't do anything about it.

I dont know if this is the cause, but we learned something very interesting when riding up front last month. A CM came in the cab and sprayed something on the carpet around the controls and on the operator's pants. Im thinking-bug control???? Turns out, as we were told, it was Downy Fabric softener. They had been having problems with the uniforms and static electricity for years and had been trying to find a solution. It was causing the monorails to run at 40% below normal. By accident they discovered that Downy did the trick. It saved them a lot of money and the monorails run fine now as long as the static doesnt build up!

last year we got stuck on the monorail on our way to cinderellas breakfast!!! we got to our reservation about 40 minutes to late and they said it was too late and we couldn't do the breakfast - i was crushed as you know how hard it is to get those reservations. they did let us go upstairs and cinderalla came over and spend about 5 minues with my kids and took some pictures but it was torture watching all the other characters mingle with the families :>(

they didn't even want to issue us a credit on our credit card until we gota manager involved

we were very disappointed on how this was handled - luckily my kids were ok with it and we moved on.

It does happen. Almost two years ago we were not on the one that broke down. We were in the monorail after one that broke down. So that held us up too. It took 45 minutes from MK to Epcot.

On MAR. 19th at EPCOT me and my fiance were riding space ship earth when we got to the very top the ride shut down and we were sitting there for about 10-15 min. I saw them talking to some kids. I was curious what happened but never found out.

We had heard that the computers that control fastpasses are now the same ones that control the monorail and when one system goes down the other one does too, and it takes a while to get the monorail back going. Is this an urban myth or true?

umm I doubt it-

The monorail system is an ancient bone (80s technology) wheras the FP puter system would *hopefully* be more current-

I think the whole monorail problems can be boiled down into- They need ALOT of TLC and although they do a good job maintaining them the amount of wear and tear on the vehicles is tremendous-- Its pretty hard to have even 1 rail out of service during peak season as you really need 3-4 per beam to keep up with demand. Also the barn cant hold them all so when ya have one down for a long rehab you have the cycle the rest outta one less spot for inshop TLC (They get a night check if they stay out)

They need to finish rehabing and updating the rails but Ive been told the $$$ is gone so itll be a day by day maintance effort until Disney coughs up the dough for new rails-

When I drove the 'rails it was amazing some of the issues the 'rails would have- Luckily the worst I had while driving is a hatch issue but Ive been behind some dead rails and as not fun as it is for guests we dont like it either-

Yes I was there Sat. afternoon and saw as I was going in that the resort monorail wasn't running at the TTC and people were sitting inside. They were telling people to get on the express. Then when I left MK that night, the express was down and they were waving everyone to the resort monorail. So yes I think there were some problems going on.

We didnt' get stuck, but saw one being pulled by a special cart. The monorail was empty except for one family in with the captain. This was around 3:15pm.
