stuck on a ride?

We got stuck in the Carousel of Progress on our last trip.

It was my boyfriend's first time to disney, so I told him he had to see it. Well we went into the first section and it played fine and then when the song came on the room didn't move. I thought maybe I remembered it wrong, but sure enough the first segment started again and we hadn't moved an inch. We watched the first part 3 times and then the CM came over the loud speaker telling everyone to remain seated because apparently people kept getting up and leaving triggering the ride to stay put. I think it was the fourth time the song played, the CM turned down the audio, I guess so we didn't get too frustrated but after this time that we actually started to move. So the audio was very very low for the second section and we could hardly hear it. But everyone watching remained quiet and tried to pay attention. About halfway though, the audio came back to the normal level and the rest of the ride was normal. But I had to apologize to my boyfriend because that certainly wasn't the way it was supposed to be!

September 2008-

Splash mountain --close to 40 minutes near the end of the ride. Music didn't go off for at least 30 minutes...heard Zippity Doo Dah over and over and over and over.:scared1: :scared1:

Test track---right by curve before you go out...15 minutes or so before we walked off.

ISAW. for two hours. 120 minutes. in a boat. with that song. and the exit in sight.

But no, we had to be pushed backwards thru the emergency exit while dodging animatronics the entire time!! At least we got in the Lion King show that was brand new at that time ahead of the line! Sigh, it was baaaaaaaaaaad.

I was also stuck on Space Mountain for about 20 minutes in the rocket while we were still at the loading dock. It was my first time on the ride, and that extra anticipation killed me! It's now in my top five, so it was well worth it.

We were stuck on Buzz, twice for about 20 minutes each time. That was fun though, racking up those points. Can't imagine IASW........you must have had some crazy dreams than night.:rotfl2:

So has anyone counted? It seems like Splash Mountain is a big repeat offender. Test Track & Space Mountain seem to have their share of troubles too. Last trip Space Mountain was down more than it was up, so I think that one is due for a major rehab.

The only time I can recall being stopped/stuck on a ride a WDW was on a trip in '98. We were going on Space Mountain for the third/fourth/nineteenth time. We started going up the main lift hill and got stuck about 10 feet from the release point. Although it was only for about 15-20 minutes, it seemed like forever! They turned on the lights during the indecent and I've never ridden it the same since then. Once the issue was resolved, they let us ride through again.

Just last week during our trip we were stuck on POTC for about 20 minutes - we could see the disembarking area but just had to sit there and wait until it was fixed. We also had a problem at TT - we had 6 people in our group - all but one person in our car couldn't lock our seatbelts - we told the CM - he told us we were just sitting on the seat belts - like no way dude- we got to the last CM. He stopped the ride. So sorry to all those who were riding at the time. We had to get out of the car and get in a new one. The one girl who's seat belt was hooked couldn't get out - she had to be cut out of the seat belt by the maintenance CM. The positive side is that the CM let us ride TT twice in a row. It gave us a great story to talk about all week anyway!!!

My sister and I have the worst luck in getting stuck on rides. We have tried riding Dinosaur 4 different times and it got stuck every time. One of the times, we were right by the huge T-Rex head that is about to eat you. It's hilarious on that ride, though, because when you stop the lights come on and you find yourself in a huge warehouse with a few shrubs and dinosaurs that have incomplete bodies. It kind of ruins the effect.

We have also got stuck on Test Track, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Winnie the Pooh, and Buzz Lightyear (I love being stuck there and racking up the points!). The worst rides we have been stuck on were It's a Small World and Finding Nemo.

Thankfully, most of the time the rides have gotten started again after 5-10 minutes. I can't imagine being stuck on a ride for more 40+minutes!

I've been stuck for a few minutes on several rides (probably just for loading/unloading guests who need special assistance).

The only one I've been stuck on for an extended period was Haunted Mansion. We were in the graveyard area for about 30 minutes. We were right next to a ghost who popped up from behind a gravestone and shouted "boo!" It was fun for a few minutes, but got old quickly. We didn't get evacuated though... eventually the ride came back on and we continued to the end. (We were not offered a chance to re-ride, but I wouldn't have wanted to anyway!)

I haven't like HM nearly as much since then. However, I noticed on our last trip that the ghost has been moved/removed during the most recent refurb. (There are still similar popping ghosts, but not in the same place.)

We got stuck on Splash for about 30 minutes because the two logs in front of us were full of Brazilian teenagers who decided it would be fun to switch logs/get out and inspect the scenery.

This was right where the possum pops out and says "FSU!" They ignored all announcements (in English and Portugese) to stop and sit back down-- finally Disney security came in from some hidden door and escorted them all out.

We got to ride again right away because the first trip was interrupted.

Splash Mountain really needs some kind of restraint because way too many stop the ride by deciding to get out of their logs.

Two of my DS suck on Space Mtn. for over an hour. They fianally had to walk down, excet for my youngest DS (22 at the time) he had a broken leg and was csrried down by firefighters from RC. They were given FP for riding later. Good thing he is on the small side.

We've been stopped for prolonged times on lots of rides but the only one we ever had to walk out of was Spaceship Earth before it was renovated--we watched Michelangelo paint the ceiling...over...and over...and over....
After 45 minutes or so they walked us all down the stairs--and it was a long walk down!
Now we hide our faces in the Michelangelo room--can't stand to watch the poor guy paint.

We have been stuck on several rides, but no longer than just a few minutes. We got stuck on Test Track on the hill you down before the truck comes out at you, didn't even know it did that because it didn't happen that time.

We have been stuck on HM twice, POTC got backed up on our trip in Sept, because they had more boats running than people riding and that was also the reason we got stuck on BTMRR....on top of the second hill.....I was about to pee my pants, cause when you look down there is nothing very close, on Dh side there were steps. Nice view of the MK, but I was about to have a panic attack and we were in the very last car.

We have been on TTA when Space Mtn all of a sudden lit up and you could see the ride cars stop, then the next time on a differnet trip, the lights were on and the cars were still moving. That is weird to see.

We got stuck on Nemo last year. And it felt like an ETERNITY, as I was already regretting trying the ride to begin with! We were in the room with the long graphics screen, so 1) it felt like we were moving anyway, which was dizzying, and 2) if I looked away I got to stare at the quite visible speakers that highlight the overall mediocrity of the ride's design.
Other than that, nothing actually ON a ride, though we sat outside of Test Track for a long time (30-45 minutes, I'd say), and they eventually closed the ride. We were given fastpasses, though, so it wasn't a complete loss. And the monorail stopped over Future World for about 20 minutes once, but I actually enjoyed that!

Oh, and there are a few places I'd love to break down!
1) On Splash Mountain's open air section while Wishes is going off.
2) On the People-Mover, inside Space Mountain.
3) On the Safari.... anywhere, really, but in front of the lions would be great.
4) On the monorail to the airport terminal..... who doesn't secretly fantasize about missing their flight home and being forced to back to Disney? :goodvibes

Wow-lots of experiences with Splash, it seems. My parents were stuck with my DD2 at Ellen's Energy Adventure for about 30 minutes in the dinosaur room. My poor daughter decided that she was not liking that room and they were the last to be evcuated. My DH and I came back from Test Track with DS6 to find the building being roped off and my not too thrilled parents escorting my daughter. It will probally be a while before she will ride that one again!

Actually, I think I'd rather ride Dinosaur with the lights on.

I've been stuck plenty of times, almost always less than 5 minutes. I think they should start walking you out before 45 minutes. I can't imagine being the poor people who were stuck for two hours.

The only one I've ever been stuck on is Ellen. Wasn't very long, we were the front car. We all had to evacuate, but luckily it wasn't during the dino part (FREAKY!), it was at the end during the little movie thing.

That happened to us in June in the same exact part! When did it happen to you?

Were you there on November 13th? Because that is exactly what happened to us, I think that was the right date. I had loved this ride as a kid, and convinced my two kiddos to ride it with me... they laugh and say, "Never again!" By the third time that first segment started AGAIN I think we were all ready to lose our mind. I think breaking into, "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow..." will always crack us up, though! :rotfl:

I've been stuck on Splash twice - once for about 35 minutes and the other for about 20 minutes. During the 35 minute delay, we were inside in a level area listening to music that was VERY annoying after the first couple minutes. During the 20 minute delay, we were on the way up to the big drop, nearly at the top. Not a comfy position. I was more annoyed at the wasted time and thinking about the growing lines throughout the park than anything else. I've also been stuck on Spaceship Earth (before the refurb). We were at the top, and after about 15 minutes of sitting there they had us walk down. That was a highlight - you got to see the exhibits really close up - it was worth the delay. I was stuck on Snow White for about 5 minutes late one night. We had hopped on while waiting for Wishes and as we sat there I was getting worried about missing it, but the ride started back up and we made it. Oh, and I didn't consider it being stuck, but we did have to watch one segment of Carousel of Progress twice - I suspect because someone opened the door.
