I was one of those people in the Tampa area bracing for Charley. We did not evacuate thank god, but my family in Orlando lost power and some "roofing material". I agree with the poster above. Storms do funny things. Charley was suppose to hit Tampa dead on, but took a sharp right into Port Charlotte. No one expected that.
I was watching the weather channel and if you watch it 10 to the hour, every hour, they show a tropical update. They really have no idea as to where Frnaces is heading. They have a projected track with a cone of error. Well, the cone of error covers the entire state. They say that if it takes a southerly track it will hit Miami, Ft. Lauderdale area. If it heads northernly it will hit Daytona, Melbourne, etc. Right now the storm was heading west at 15 mph. so no direction has been changed. It could also go has north as Georgia and S. Carolina
I would call the airline company and see what they have planned for thier flights because you will start to see cancellations go across the board come closer to Friday/ Saturday.
I don't know if this helped you or not, but this Hurricane is a monster and could grow to a Cat. 4. God bless the area it hits, it will do some major damage. Poor Florida is getting hammered with hurricanes this year, first Bonnie, then Charley, now maybe Frnaces!
Best of luck!
