Alrighty i'm getting married in November and so me and my soon to be wife will be staying at disney from nov. 18 through 26. Were really excited because last time we took a trip to orlando it was great. This is our first time staying at disney though. Anyways i'm stuck in between the two resorts port orleans french quarters and port orleans riverside. Now theres no price difference but what i read is that the french quarters is much smaller and quieter than riverside. I'm not sure which one i will pick but any input would help me out. Which one suits me better being on my honeymoon and everything. thanks alot.

Wecome to the DIS and congratulations!

I think Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ) is very romantic and the perfect setting for a honeymoon. Everything is very close to the main building, the food court and the pool. Port Orleans - Riverside (POR) is also very nice, but bigger. Since it's your honeyhoon, I would spend extra for a King size bed over the standard 2 doubles.

Here are some pictures to help you out:
Port Orleans French Quarter
Port Orleans - Riverside

We have stayed at the POFQ twice. It is beautiful, calm and relaxing. There was live jazz music at the little bar and it was fun to end the day that way. I don't think you could go wrong with either choice for the price and location! Congratulations, and have an awesome time! :earsboy:

Some of the pluses you will find at POR is their full service restaurant Boatwrights, Carriage rides, easy access to boats to DTD and evening campfires complete with Smores. Plus my DH and I love to just walk around the complex, the landscaping in wonderful! PORFQ is nice because of the size but POR is more complete. Best wishes!

My vote is for the French Quarter. It's a smaller resort, so no matter what room you are in, it's a quick walk everywhere. I've stayed at both the FQ & River and absolutely LOVE the FQ.

I actually think POR is quieter due to the larger size and abundant landscaping. For a romantic honeymoon, DW and I would choose Riverside.

I stayed at Riverside in one of the Mansions with my husband for our anniversary. I actually think this is a quieter area than POFQ. FQ is small and compact, which means all the guests are packed into a smaller space (think Burbon Street in New Orleans). It seems to me this would actually be the louder of the two. Riverside is sprawling and sread out (without being too big) with lots of shady trees and private nooks.

I've only stayed at POFQ, and we loved it! We were originally going to stay at POR, but changed our dates and had to move to POFQ. It was a wonderful stay and I highly recommend it. Very quiet, very beautiful, very short walks to and from buses, Guest Services, food court, boat dock, pool, etc.

From what I've heard about POR, I don't think you can go wrong with either resort. Good luck choosing and congratulations on the upcoming wedding.

We honeymooned at Dixie Landings in the mansion part requesting a king bed.
It is now POR.

I highly, highly recommend it.

My wife and I have stayed at both Riverside & French Quarter. While we enjoyed both, we preferred Riverside. The paths through the larger Riverside are a great place to escape the crowds and enjoy some alone time.
