Strollers

I just recently got back from Disney on Monday. I was there during most of the countries February vacation week and there were a lot of kids there. And I noticed that a lot of older kids were using strollers, like 9 and 10 year olds. Yes, I saw that there were families with 2 kids and the younger one had the stroller but wasn't using it and so the older one was in the stroller, but I just think it's odd that older, only childern are using strollers. I only used it one during my first trip when I was 5, and then on my next trip, when I was 8, I walked.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I've noticed that too. I think some parents want the strollers too because it's easier than whining kids, and they want somewhere to store their stuff.

I've probably seen it a few times.
Strollers are Satan reincarnated into an evil mode of transportation for tykes that HURT MY HEELS!

You see it, but does it really matter? If they want a stroller it's their business. They will have an easy way to transport their stuff, but they will still have to find a place to leave it at every ride. There are pros and cons, so whatever works for the people goes.

Mickey1122, I see where you are coming from, but strollers take up a lot of space and because WDW can get very crowded at times, it becomes very selfish for kids able to walk to use a stroller. Strollers are there for the children that actually need it, otherwise, the parks are over populating with strollers. I don't mind strollers when they aren't a problem, but when they are ramming into my heels, my legs, and when people think they rule the park because they have a stroller, I get very annoyed. If the child is capable of walking on his/her own, don't use a stroller for the curtosy of others.

If they made them big enough,I'd still have a stroller in DW!!!!
By seven or six I didn't have one anymore.
The only way to have the true Disney experience is if you walk five miles each day.Goodness,the parents must have been newbies,taking away the joy of exaustion from the poor children!

my last trip, i calculated and stuff, and i walked about 31 miles!

i think after a certain age, kids should stop using strollers.
10 years old is way to old to be using a stroller.

On our last trip my brother who was seven used a stroller. I find it very rude for you to say this. After a long day of walking he would get tired and need a rest. It was also good to carry and store things.

I don't think it's rude to say it was annoying to see people capable of walking sitting in a stroller. I understand that kids get tired, but a lot of people get tired. My sister, who is 16, got tired at WDW this year during the day but that didn't constitue her sitting in a stroller. If people used strollers just because they were tired, does that mean that everyone has the option to use carts and other mobil devices in WDW just because their feet get tired? It's WDW...there will be a lot of walking. lol.

WDW isn't built for all it's guests to be riding around in mobil devices. I can understand older children using strollers if they have a more difficult time walking or if they are in dire need of it...but I have seen perfectly capable children ridding in strollers and it became VERY difficult to even walk anywhere because there were so many strollers.

I am not saying your brother was totally wrong in using a stroller, but I also know where the OP is coming from.

I think 7 is an acceptable age to use a stroller. But the kids I saw were about 10 years old. They are certinaly capable of walking.

I get tired everyday that I'm at Disney World. I guess I'll go steal a stroller from a baby and sit in it. Heck, I'll have my dad push it for me!

My point is. Those children are capable of walking, there is no reason they should be using a stroller.

This is one of my biggest, if not the biggest, pet peeve of mine at WDW.

Nope not really.I dont notice that much lol.Havent been for two monthes.Anyways,maybe the kids just cant walk the whole park and thats a way of resting instead of having to leave to rest at there hotel

I agree that there is an acceptable age and an unacceptable age to be riding in a stroller. Younger kids I can understand, but when the kids are 10, 11, even 12, I think they are capable of walking unless they absolutely need it because they have problems walking or something.

When I was there in may, I saw a girl that was about 12 sitting in a wheel chair. She didn't look like she had any problems, but you never know. But she was sitting with her feet crossed indian style in the stroller, so I figured there was nothing wrong and she was just using the wheelchair. Why would you rent a wheelchair for no particular reason when there are other people who actually need them??
