Strollers for non-stroller age kids?

My DD is 5 years old and she doesn't use a stroller anymore. I'm going to bring it though so I can lug the cooler around and all the junk. If she wants to get a ride at the end of the day she's more than welcomed to jump on. :)

The need for a stroller is a personal decision. Our youngest is now 8, but we didn't need a stroller when we went for his 4th birthday. We usually spend 12-14 hours per day at the parks, but we do not have any complaining about being tired even with the walk back to HoJo at the end of the day. Every child is different, some have no problems with long days of walking, with others it can turn the trip into a nightmare if the walking expectations are too high. My advice see how it goes, if your kids are no longer having fun because they are exhausted then get a stroller.

:thumbsup2 The suppose the same can also be said for the choice to use a wheelchair. On the flip side/ just playing devil's advocate here... perhaps we shouldn't push ourselves past the point of exhaustion. I have a bad knee that requires surgery and I know I pushed myself too hard when we went on Father's Day. Its easy to get wrapped up in the magic!

Hmm. DD will be just turned 3 when we go, and I hadn't planned on hiring a stroller for her. Now I'm wondering if I should. How expensive is it? We'll be there for 5 days, so we won't have to race around... but there'll be lots of walking still, I'm sure... but she is a pretty good walker....

Hmm.

None of my kids could have done full days at Disneyland without a stroller when they had barely turned 3. All kids are different, but mine definitely needed a stroller in the parks at that age. Now, by 5, they would absolutely SCOFF at the mere notion that they should sit in a "baby" stroller, but at 3, they were still taking naps in the stroller while we were in the parks.

I've never rented a stroller in the parks, but it would probably be much cheaper to just buy an inexpensive one at a nearby Target or something (Toys R Us usually has a cheap umbrella stroller for $20) when you get to Anaheim, as opposed to renting one each of your 5 days (I believe it's somewhere in the ballpark of $10-$12 per day).

We went with my nephews when they were ages 1 1/2 and almost 4. Obviously the little one used a stroller, but the older one wouldn't go anywhere near it. He was no longer using a stroller at home and we could not even get him to sit in it (he wanted to push the empty stroller, it was very frustrating). Now he is six and I know there is NO way he would get in a stroller.

We went back to the hotel for naps, so they never got to the point of total exhaustion.
