Stroller @ the parks: help!

We are travelling w/ our 2 DS: ages 1 & 4. The 4 yr. old is a healthy 45 pounds, right @ or above the weight on most strollers. I was going to just rent, but he gets tired easily, and would then need to be carried to the bus, on the bus, and to the hotel room. I just can't carry him that much!!! Does anyone know of a stroller that would hold a larger child? We've considered a double jogger, but the weight and bulk of it mean my husband would have to manage that on the busses, and I would have to carry both children-not gonna work! Any other ideas? TIA!

They are pretty pricey though. The Inglesina twin jet will hold 45lbs (can hold more). I got it for my kids. Its also not too light. You could try a mountain buggy, those come highly recommended. The Combi Twin Savvy's will hold up to 45lbs but ppl have used them for more weight but its probably too small for an older child... Good luck, I would just rent one... The doubles that can hold him are going to be over 20lbs...Steph due with #4

Maclarens can hold that weight, even if they aren't actually rated that high. They're nice too!

I've been shopping for a double stroller & must have considered every one out there! I think 2 smaller strollers make more sense for you, but do check out some of the side by side doubles to see if there is one that might work.

you have to be careful on some of the new ones. The 2002 had trouble with the seats only being 9" instead of 11" (not all, but some) and then some of the new ones don't seem too deep or too wide. You have to try and see. My 4 y/o is 41lbs but some of the strollers are just too narrow for her. But, I agree, Macs are nice doubles! Steph

We have two ages 3 and 6. We have traditionally done the two individual strollers. However on the last trip we rented a double stroller at the park. It worked out well because the kids thought it was neat (because it was different than their old ones) and we didn't have to lug it between parks, on buses, etc. If you park hop you can simply take your name tag off of the back of the buggy and present it at the next park for a stroller there. Can get a little pricey but it saved our backs and made the overall experience even better.

My youngest is 5 and 46lbs and I've never given a second thought to putting her in our regular stroller (we only use it for Disney) and this past trip she sat in a regular umbrella stroller without and problem....

I don't think I'd worry to much about trying to get a special stroller

If you are already bringing a stroller for the 1y/o I would suggest either a "Buggy Board" which we used for our 3 1/2 y/o last year while our 1 1/2 y/o rode and it was great. Its about $50. through most baby catalogs. The bigger child just stands and rides along the back. Kind of like a skateboard, its wonderful, everyone asked me where we got that. It folds up along with the stroller too.

Theres also this newer one I saw at the mall sold at Zainy-Brainy. Its like a Buggy Board, but the child can sit OR stand if he likes. the only thing is that I'm not sure if its for bigger kids. It looked pretty small, like for a 2 y/o. My now almost 5 y/o certainly would not fit in the seat portion. She's about 40 pounds.

I would check them both out to see which is best, but I really liked the Buggy Board. They have 2 different types, but I can't remember what the difference was.

We used a Saturn InStep for our DD who was a little over 50 lbs. It has pneumatic tires like a jogger, but weren't the huge size. The one feature that was a big seller for us was the swivel front wheel. We bought it at target. Here's a link to the InStep website.
