Anyone know if this has ever happened before? I was just looking on Amazon for a new lock to use on my Maclaren and was wondering if anyone had ever had theirs taken despite the lock being on it.

I don't know, but I do know that if the CM's can't wheel your stroller to rearrange it, they've been known to cut the locks off.

We just got a new Maclaren and I'm trying to figure out how I could even attach a cable lock to it. I know people say DO NOT lock it attached to anything else, and instead run the cable through 2 wheels, but this thing has solid wheels. At a loss?

The only thing that we have figured out to do is have my husband drill a small hole in each back wheel with his Dremel.

true story about cutting the lock off. CM's have to be able to move strollers

Very few people have had their stroller "stolen" period so the number that had their stroller "stolen" with a lock would be quite small.

The reason why I say "stolen" is that based on the posts I have read here, very few are truly stolen.

More likely moved by a CM when someone parks in a non stroller parking zone or someone mistakenly grabs your stroller instead of theirs.

The next level is someone borrowing it and leaving it somewhere else, OK I guess this is stealing.

Very few are stolen for gain like pickpocketing. Somewhere backstage there are hundreds of these "stolen" strollers.

I'm not saying its not an issue but the chances of it happening to you are slim. Of course for your own well being, locking up your wheels will make the bad guys look elsewhere. But it will not stop a CM from moving it.

I have read that the more in the way your "illegally" parked stroller is the further it will be moved.

I know when we went down I watched the cm's move those strollers like crazy...I cant imagine you can put a lock on it...because the strollers need to be moved to make room..maybe at downtown disney I would use one but thats it....and dont leave ANYTHING valuable in your stroller..just saying

Honestly, I cannot even imagine putting a lock on our stroller. We are DVC members, so we go often with our 4 year old. The amount of time you would waste locking/unlocking the stroller would be way too much. My son is in and out of the stroller all day. And, yes, the CMs move the strollers all the time in order to keep them in an orderly fashion in the stroller parking areas.

We have a Bumbleride, which is a pretty expensive stroller, and have never had any issues with it being missing. I agree with the other poster, the vast majority of the time it is just a case of mistaken stroller identity. The one thing that I did do, was place labels in a few inconspicous spots on the stroller with our name, address and phone number. That way, the labels weren't easily removable if is was "stolen". Obviously, we don't leave our valuables in the stroller when it is parked.

Have a great trip!

I still like the 'Unofficial Guide to WDW' book idea of hanging a clear plastic bag conspicuously on the handle, containing some diaper material soaked in rootbeer. No real mess, no bad smell but it might make a thief, or an accidental taker, go elsewhere.

I'm with the "can't even imagine locking a stroller" bunch. We're headed for our 4th trip to WDW with kids in May, each time with our double Maclaren. We have a ribbon (with a baseball print on it) tied from one handle to the other, with another piece of ribbon dangling in the center. That helps us find our stroller in the parking areas and would definitely signal to another Maclaren owner that they've got the wrong stroller. I am totally not afraid of having my stroller outright stolen at WDW. If I was afraid of it being stolen, I'd take a cheap stroller rather than spend what would probably add up to an hour a day locking and unlocking the stroller every time we park it. I too believe that probably 99.9% of stroller disappearances are accidental and could be avoided by simply doing something to your stroller that makes it different from every other stroller of the same make and model. I just don't think it's worth getting stressed out about, I guess. I do enough stressing about ADRs and making RD....now that's serious!

How many people go to a WDW park every day?

How many of them have their stroller stolen?

:confused3

And as others have said, CM's will cut locks to move strollers.

my hubby said this is the best advice we have received on these boards so far :lmao:

Check out the BuggyGuard locks on Amazon. We used one of these for our stroller earlier in the month, worked flawlessly all week long! :thumbsup2

We lock up our stroller. It only takes a moment to do, so why not?

The cable lock stays in the basket with one twist around the stroller frame. To lock up the stroller, I just pull the two ends through the back wheels and lock them together. If it takes more than a few seconds, I'd be shocked.

We left all of our stuff in the stroller all day and were frequently running it to the drop off and leaving it while we did the rides in Fantasyland. No one ever touched it or anything stored in it.

We carried a small cross-body bag of valuables and left everything else to chance. While I'm sure it's happened a few times, I think most people are too preoccupied with their own belongings and families to want to steal someone's stroller. I would bet that stroller theft is a rare occurrence.

I have used our still-new-looking MacLaren Major numerous times in the parks - although not often we park it (my son is usually IN it for special needs). All our strollers have been moved by a CM at one time or another even when we put it in the alloted area, they fill up the empty spaces as people come and go.
We never left anything of value in our stroller and always had an obvious tag/ribbon etc. attached. Perhaps you could add a lock-tyype device that will NOT be removable except by you?
Honestly, I don't think you have to worry though!

i was there the first week of dec and i have a bugaboo i used a flex cable bike lock and locked the back wheels together and i had no problems except some ticked cast members because if you wanted to move my stroller you had to pick the whole thing up......but i felt safe

Just a word of advice from a CM... do not use a lock to attach your stroller to something. As a CM, if we see that, we are supppsed to call security.

Been there many times and stroller never stolen... or lost... then again, I only have normal strollers...
