We are going to the world for the 2nd time this fall with my two boys DS3 and DS5. My boyfriend will also be going. My quetstion is do I take a stroller or do I go without one? I think we should take on and BF thinks we would be better w/o that it will just be a pain in the you know what. ANd I think that it would help to even carrry our backpacks if the kids dont wanna ride. We are going September 8-12 and I t hink by the end of the day the kids are going to be too worn out to walk. Then the next question is do we take one or two stollers? HELP!! Need mothers/fathers oppinions. :confused3

You will need a stroller for your 3 year old for sure and possibly for your 5 year old. Disney is huge and like no other place you have been. It is exhausting. There is just no way a 3 year old can make it through a day at the park without a stroller. My dd was 4.5 in January when we went and she rode in the stroller a ton. No way she would have made it without our stroller either.

Don't listen to your bf. Plan on bringing a stroller or two or renting. The rental strollers would likely work really well for your kids.

As you know, it is a lot of walking. The 3 year old will have to be in a stroller, no doubt about it. As for my experience (10 times in 9 years with kids) when DS was 6 he did some walking but he would get tired and used a stroller. He was too big for a conventional stroller, so we rented one at the park. DS was 7 the first time he went completely without a stroller. I've been 2 times in September and it is hot, and having a stroller with shade for the child is nice as well. You have the option of bringing your own stroller or renting one from wdw. I think a double stroller would be great for you. WDW recently increased the price on the daily rental, but I would think it would be less of a hassle to have one doublestroller than two singles.

DS3 will absolutely need a stroller, DS5 will not want one in the beginning, but I guarantee you he'll want one because his legs will get tired. Take 2 singles or rent (pricey) a double. You'll be glad you did.

Take one! I would get a double, because even though the 5yo doesn't normally use a stroller, he will get tired with all the walking. My DH totally balked at using stroller for our 4yo twins...until he saw one just give up walking a couple of weeks ago at the zoo! I told him if she could handle walking around the zoo, no WAY could she handle all the walking at Disney.

I know I dont want a double stoller! Just too darn heavy to push and too hard to turn! I have used on for 3 years now And I dont htink I wanna rent one as the dont look very comfy and I wanna save some $$$ ;) Thanks for the input. I thought I would be right, :snooty: Ill tell BF he doesnt know what he is talking about, lol

The 3 year old will definitely need one. Our kids are 5 and needed one last trip as well. Not for riding all day long, of course, but for long walks from back of park to front of park, etc. They needed the stroller at night too. Depending on where you stay, you can get to parks by rolling your stroller right on some boats and all the monorails (without having to unload it and fold it...). Or, in some cases, you can walk to various parks from your resort, so the strollers really come in handy in that case. Also, you are going in early Sept, so it will still be hot and your kids will probably want to rest from the sun from time to time. When my kids were 3, they actually napped right in the stroller. They didn't nap at home, but in disney it was a different story. One more thing ~ it tends to rain during your time frame, so the stroller is handy to put the kids in and cover with a rain cover so the kids and stroller stay dry as you walk around the parks (or in this case, run!).

I was reading on another thread about the average amount a person walks at Disney it was an amazing amount - something like 9-12 miles of walking a day! I don't know about your children but mine couldn't have walked that much at 3 & 5 years old. We are taking our double Graco side by side stroller for our kids when we will be there in Sept. They will be 4 & 7. My ds7 is small for his age so he will fit just fine!

What about a single stroller with the attachment where your 5 yr old can stand & still hitch a ride????

You know your kids, they're all different. Last Feb my DD who will be four next month went without one and we didn't have much of a problem, we've never used one after three. Even when my DD13 was 2.75 she didn't sit in one, though she was carried a lot.

Since I'm guessing you've never been to WDW with preschoolers before it might be a good idea to bring one. The price has gone way up, but in your case it may be the best idea to rent. We've been lots of times so we're never compelled to dart right through, we like to soak it up so we don't go very fast, sometimes we leave before completely "making the rounds" because we already know the place so well. I would reccomend seeing how they do the first day and then renting one the second (if you're not bringing one) if they need it so you don't waste moeny. I believe you can even rent one inside the park as well. You can also save money by not renting one in smaller parks such as MGM or if you're going to DTD (if they even rent them there).

Have a great trip!

no, we were there last year at the same time! And I would have died w/o the strollers!

Oh yeah, I forgot about those kind! Thats a great idea. Now I would just have to find one thats not toooo expensive, lol

Have one, the joovy caboose, would not reccomend it for disney. I find it difficult to push and manuveur. We went in April of this year and we didn't take it. It doesn't fold up that small either. I would reccomend simple umbrella strollers, either a single or a double. You will be in and out of them so much. Love the Joovy for short mall trips, but not for all day at disney

Take one. A healthy five year old is capable of walking and might prefer the dignity of being a Big Kid.

we live in uk and will probably buy a cheap stroller from walmart when we get to Florida. our kids are 8 and nearly 6. Cheaper than the excess baggage of taking one and cheaper than stroller rental! We tried that last time we went two years ago and boy did it eat into our budget!

We just got back last Friday and our boys are almost 5, they both needed a stroller. Thankfully, I brought two from home. IMO it is just too much walking for their little legs to handle.

Definitely take a double stroller (or you can rent one for $31 a day:scared1: ). The 3 year old will need it and the 5 year old can hop in and out at will. WDW requires too much walking for many adults. Really little kids will do much better in a stoller at least part of the time.
