We are going on our first Disney Cruise in August - 7 days - and will have a newly 3 year old (9 and 11 year old)....should we bring an umbrella stroller? My mom has gone on several cruises and said there is a lot of walking (to the ship, at ports, etc) but i'm worried our room will be really crowded. We have a Veranda b/c there is 5 of us but i know space is a premium. Thoughts?

If you want an umbrella stroller for port days it will easily fold up and fit under your bed. You should not need to use it on the ship.

Our daughter had just turned 3 when we went on our last cruise in 2014. We didn't bring a stroller and we were fine! However, we didn't do any excursions. If you are doing excursions with a lot of walking, I would recommend a stroller.

We traveled with a 3 year old and didn't use a stroller. A few of the excursions we did had a little bit of walking but she was fine for most of it and got a ride from Dad a few times. The groups move pretty slow to accommodate everyone. We also took the tram in Castaway Cay to avoid the long walk. We didn't miss the stroller at all. I wouldn't recommend using a stroller on board unless you really needed to. The hallways are pretty narrow and it would be a pain to find somewhere to park it. That being said, a small umbrella stroller could have easily fit under the bed or in the closet if you are really concerned.

Thanks everyone! My son is "Mr Independent"(3 going on 5 - hehe)...so i don't think he will like a stroller anyway.... thanks for the feedback. Traveling with 5 ppl, i'm sure we'll have enough to lug around, if i can avoid a stroller, i would prefer that!

One more thing to consider. Even if your son doesn't nap at home, he might find himself getting tuckered out from the excitement of traveling. We liked having an umbrella stroller with us as a portable napping spot for our son when he started to get tired and crabby while we were in port. It allowed my husband and I to keep exploring while the little dude was passed out.

It really depends on your child. Every child is different! For instance, my daughter is almost 3 and we most definitely still need a stroller to get her to nap (napping in her room? NO WAY!) and if she doesn't nap, she's a monster by 6pm. So we will definitely bring our stroller on the ship (she'll be 3.5 by then but probably still need naps everyday). Last time we were onboard, she was 2 years old, and we basically circled on deck 4 everyday to get her to sleep.

Good points! I'm not sure this kid will sleep in the stroller... i have a feeling we'll have some early nights with him...i guess we'll have to play it by ear... still have 6 months before it's time and he's already trying to "not" nap...we're about 50/50 with naps right now anyway...by August, likely we'll be at no naps!
