no flames- i already know I am planning on using a stroller, we do it everytime and it works the best for our family. Normally I bring my maclarent for my dd2 and we rent a stroller for ds6. This time I am thinking it would just be cheaper to bring an umbrella for ds rather than rent one. IS there a cheap umbrella out there that will hold a heavier child's weight? He weighs a little over 50 lbs. I want him in the umbrella rather than the mac since my dd will still nap in hers.

I am wondering the same thing- my ds will be 6 but is still just under 40lbs- I was hoping to find a cheapish umbrella type that maybe even reclines- I will be watching to see if you find anything or anyone has any suggestions- Jen:goodvibes

Watching, too. As of now I am bringing my old Graco for my almost 5yo. I actually had him it it the other day and it was kinda hard to push & steer. I don't think he'll be in it much so it should be ok. But maybe there is a better alternative.....

This has been asked before and if I recall correctly, the answer is no. You will have a tough time manuevering an umbrella stroller with a kid that heavy. I've come to terms with the fact that I'll have to purchase a 100 dollar Macleran Volo for my five year old, we're trying for baby #2 so maybe it will see some use after Disney!

Sounds like it might make more sense to just rent one again then! Less to travel with although you have nothing to show for it at the end of the journey. But this should be the last time this is an issue so 100 for the volo vs the rental fee of 5 days seems better. Thankyou

Another option might be to buy the Volo, have something really nice while you're there, and then sell it on craigslist when you get home for $20 less than you bought it for (since it will still be practically new)! :thumbsup2

I would have done rental, but we're going Christmas week and I don't want to deal with the lines for getting a stroller, returning the stroller, them running out of strollers to rent, figuring out which one is mine, etc. It's going to be hectic as it is and I want one less thing to worry about. :)

I helped my sister do a lot of research on this and she ended up buying a Maclaran for both her 4 year old and 6 year old. I believe the weight limit is very high, maybe 60 or 75 pounds, and she said it pushes her 6 year old like a dream and he's also very comfortable in it. I believe if you take 2 trips with the stroller, it already pays for itself when you consider the renting cost versus a new stroller.

buy the Mac, I've never spent more worthy stroller money. My 2 volos made our trip with toddlers excellent. My now almost 5 year old still ask for it at the mall. I hunted endlessly for a good deal or a craigslisted or ebay one but never found one, if I had I would have snapped it up. Bought a "last year" model on line and only paid 89 for it. look around.

Renting leaves you carrying or fussing at a tired child come end of day.

just my 2 cents.

have a great trip.

I agree with you all about how great Mac's are. I have the Triumph for my dd so this will never be an issue when she gets to this age. I'm just having a hard time justifying the cost of another Mac for what surely will be the last time I will need to have two strollers. Anyone else who is reading this post and doesn't own a MAC- GO OUT AND BUY ONE THEY ARE SO WORTH THEIR MONEY!

Get the Mac! I plan on ordering a Twin Techno for our trip in Decmber for my 9 mo. and 3 yr. old and then selling it when we get back. I may also pick up a Volo for my 5yr old. I have enough strollers at home already that I really don't need to keep them :)

I just bought a Mac for my DS5 for the same reason. I found a new Volo on ebay for $76 including shipping. Mac's will hold up to 55lbs and my DS loves riding in my DD's mac. It's so easy to push him in too.

Go with the Mac and then you can resale it when you get home.

I suggest renting a double from the parks. That is what we always do, well after the first two times when we found out the hard way how hard it is to push and manuever regular strollers with two kids. My 11 year old even rides in it sometimes and no problem pushing the rentals:)

I recently bought the Maclaren Twin Triumph and love it!

I have four year old twin girls who are 30 and 42 pounds and this is the best stroller for older kids. It sits up to 65 pounds per seat and is so easy to push.

I got it as a replacement for my Peg Perego Aria Twin stroller and it is so much better.

Here's our situation:

DS2 will ride in our Maclaren Triumph.

I'm considering renting a double stroller for my DS5 and DD6. Are we going to have too many strollers? Should we leave the Mac at home and rent a double and let the older kids take turns riding? What have others done?

Thanks!

We went to WDW when our DD was 5 (about 42 lbs) and our DS was 7 (about 44 lbs). We used the Mac volo and we attached a Buggy board (this thing you can buy and attach to a stroller so that the older kid can stand and ride) so one person could push around both kids at the same time. I zoom around the park and could manage both kids (although if we were on any inclines, I told them to get up and walk/run). At EPCOT we left the buggy board at the hotel and rented for that one day (since that park is HUGE).

Hope this helps. Oh, this was an excellent way to keep track of both kids and it was waaaaaay more narrow than a double stroller.

Dont count on it surely being the last time your child uses this stroller. You may get more use out of it than you think. We bought a Mac Volo in 2005 for our then age 7DD. She used it on that trip and then again in 2006 at age 8. She is small for her age and can actually still fit in it easily at almost 9. We wont be taking it in Jan., but we got two good years with her in it and it was much cheaper than the rental. It was great for the late evenings when she fell asleep and we wanted to stay and enjoy rides and shows. No one had to carry her- especially to the busses (if we had rented!!). You can find great deals on previous year models. We just bought our newest DD a Mac Quest since it reclines. We will also keep the Volo for future use.

Oh no! Are you telling me I could be carting around a stroller when ds is 9. Say it ain't so!!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

um when you are talking about Dinsey walking I'd much rather sling a lightweight stroller over my sholder then a 50 pound child!

I went without a stroller one year when my two youngest (at the time) were 6 and 9. :sad2: yup, bought a stroller by day 2!

My name is K. and I am a stroller addict. My newest obsession is Maclaren strollers. I bought one off craigslist for $40 yesterday (brand new volo) and I don't even need it!:scared1:

Does anyone possibly have one they would like to sell- I would love to get one second hand- thanks, Jen
