stroller cover for gate checking

I'm interested in other experiences about gate checking strollers. Do you have a special gate check cover for them? They are about $20 with shipping and I just wonder if I really need this.

We have gate checked strollers at least 5 times and have never had a cover. In fact I don't think I've ever seen a gate checked stroller with a cover on it. We've never had a problem with our stroller not being covered.

I have a Maclaran Volo pop up stroller and I do use a bag (I don't remember it being that expensive - just got at BabiesRUs years ago), mostly to keep it from getting hung on anything.

The one caution is to be sure you get a big tag at the gate (like the ones on checked luggage) that indicates it is a gate check item, since as previous poster indicated, it is not common for gate checked strollers to have such a bag. It has only happened once out of numerous trips, but they have confused it with check luggaged and had to retrieve it to bring back to me at the gate.

We have traveled 4 times with out infant and always put our stroller in a gate check bag and never once had a problem with it being on the bags. We use the cheapo red gate check bags. Advice I received is to use the car seat bag for the full sized strollers which is what we did. And we use the umbrella stroller bag for the umbrella stroller. The bags are always a little dirty and sometimes have small rips in them so I am so glad we put it in the bag each time. You am get the bags at diapers.com or amazon.

Nope, no bag. They won't let you check it w/o a big gate check tag, so I don't think it will be an issue.

We have a baby jogger double stroller and we have a bag for check in. In the 1.5 years we've had it we've used it once on a flight to WDW and another on a drive to WDW in the trunk of a full size car. Two times we drove, and just kept it in the back of the car. If we fly again we'll use it, but I doubt that we'll use it if we drive again as we've gotten a bigger car and don't put anything in the back of the car other than the stroller, as everything else was in the cargo carrier. I do think that it helps protect the stroller from incidental damage, however there's nothing keeping it from getting damaged in the parks.

Like the pp, we too have a double baby jogger stroller. We did not use a bag to gate check, but one of the last trips, a wheel fell off (they gave it to us) and our belly bar was broken, so now we have a bag and check it with our luggage, but our kids are walking toddlers, so that works for us.

I think a bag for gate checking is probably just one more thing to carry and juggle through security if your stroller will fold up and no parts come loose.

We use a bag every time. One time the bag ripped, and we were glad it was the $20 bag that got snagged on something and not the expensive stroller. They sell them at Target in the luggage section so maybe you can get one without having to pay shipping if you have a Target nearby.
